Seven people arrested in Guelph drug bust

An investigation in Guelph has resulted in seven arrests, as well as the seizure of drugs, guns, knives, brass knuckles, bear spray and a conducted energy weapon. Guelph Police said, this past spring, their Break Enter Auto Theft Unit began looking into a Cambridge man who they believed was trafficking drugs in both cities. Earlier this month, officers carried out search warrants at three properties in Guelph and two in Cambridge. Three vehicles were also searched. (Source: Guelph Police) Police said they found approximately $28,000 worth of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and Oxycodone. Officers also seized various weapons, $5,800 in cash and approximately $20,000 worth of tools, bicycles and home appliances which were believed stolen. (Source: Guelph Police) Guelph Police said tactical units with the Waterloo Regional Police Service and Brantford Police Service assisted in the searches. Four men and three women, from Guelph and Cambridge, face dozens of charges. While police did not share a full list, they included possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of prohibited weapons and possession of stolen property.

Collision shuts down ION service between Kitchener and Waterloo

(Dan Lauckner/CTV News) LRT service was brought to a standstill Wednesday afternoon due to a collision involving an ION train at Grand River Hospital Station in Kitchener. Waterloo Regional Police were on scene investigating, with forensics and collision officers focused on the front bumper of the train. Grand River Transit said ION trains were not running between Willis Way/Waterloo Public Square Station and Market Station. Service between Laurier-Waterloo Park and Willis Way, and Kitchener Market Station and Borden Station, were limited to one track in both directions. Shuttle buses were also deployed to help passengers get between Laurier-Waterloo Park Station and Borden Station.

Kitchener man charged following crash into hydro pole

First responders were called to the area of Ottawa Street North and Montcalm Drive around 4 p.m. Waterloo Regional Police said a Toyota sedan had crashed into the pole and broke it. No one was hurt. The area was closed as hydro crews removed the affected pole. A 51-year-old man was charged. Police did not specify what he was charged with.

Arrest made in Kitchener stabbing

Waterloo Regional Police say a 28-year-old man has been charged for a stabbing in Kitchener. On June 14, officers were called to a home at Madeleine Street and Maitland Street around 9:10 p.m. There they found an injured 21-year-old man from Cambridge. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said they arrested a 28-year-old Kitchener man on Sunday. He's been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, disobeying a court order and failure to comply with probation order.
