Coronation Street icon rushed to hospital on wedding day after horror collapse
A CORONATION Street resident will be rushed to hospital after collapsing in a medical emergency on their wedding day. There will be dramatic scenes in Weatherfield when Bernie Winter's big day to Dev Alahan does not go to plan. 5 5 5 With the Corrie busybody already lying to Dev from the off by using his money to help Aadi and claiming the funds went on the wedding, things will go from bad to worse for the café worker ahead of the ceremony. Before things impact Bernie, the wedding will be thrown into chaos by FOUR others first. In upcoming scenes, fans will see how all four quads fall ill which means they can't be a part of their granny's special day. Chesney is also forced to miss the big day as he must remain home to look after his children. Joseph is also forced to stay home with the sick family watching the nuptials via a live stream. More turmoil soon strikes when Bernie is forced to defend herself against a burglar just moments before walking down the aisle. The robber attempts to steal a locket with a photo of her son Paul attached. Eventually, amid the ordeals that have already plagued her wedding, Bernie makes it to the aisle and is walked down by her long-lost son, Kit Green. But as she comes face-to-face with Dev, it is clear that something is amiss. Bernie begins to struggle for breath and is soon left collapsing on the floor in front of her shocked wedding guests. Coronation Street stars Claire Sweeney and Alan Halsall have been leaving fans stunned due to the age gap between them in real life, despite playing mother and son on the cobbles Coronation Street fans have been left gobsmacked by the real-life age gap between Claire Sweeney and Alan Halsall, who play mother-son pair Cassie and Tyrone. Alan first graced our screens as Tyrone in the iconic soap back in 1998. Since then, he's become a stalwart of the show, featuring in numerous major storylines. From his romantic entanglements and subsequent marriage to Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine) to enduring domestic abuse from his fiancée Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede), Tyrone's tenure in Weatherfield has been anything but dull. Cassie, on the other hand, made her Weatherfield debut in 2023 as Tyrone's estranged mother and a recovering drug addict. It didn't take long for her to find herself embroiled in some drama. Earlier this year, she was responsible for poisoning Ken Barlow (William Roache) - whom she was looking after - in a shocking attempt to prolong her presence in his life, reports OK!. In a dramatic twist, Ken was rushed to hospital following a heart attack - thankfully, he pulled through. The truth about Cassie's role in Ken's health scare was eventually revealed, leaving the community - Tyrone included - appalled. Despite everything, Ken forgave her, and she has since moved back in with Tyrone. Adding to the intrigue, Cassie has recently rekindled her romance with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and they've gone public with their relationship. However, off-screen, fans have been distracted by the discovery of the age difference between actors Claire and Alan. Claire is 54 and Alan is 42, which means there's a mere 12-year age gap between the two stars. However, their on-screen characters, Cassie and Tyrone, have a larger age difference of nearly 16 years. "Just found out that Claire Sweeney and Corrie son Alan have an 11-year age-gap wth," one person expressed surprise on a Corrie Facebook fan page. Another added: "Another unrealistic age gap." A third was taken aback, commenting on the social media platform: "Oh wow I didn't realise that." Yet another wrote: "I've said from the start she doesn't look old enough to be Tyrone's mum."

The couple's big day is set to be full of drama including stag party shenanigans, a burglary, surprise proposal, shock collapse and a hospital dash midway through the ceremony. The week starts with the stag and hen parties, with Bernie celebrating her wedding with a low-key hen party in The Bistro after saving money by buying cheap suits for Dev and his son Aadi. But suddenly, word reaches the hens that the boys have hired a pole dancer at the Rovers, and a furious Bernie storms into the pub to find the stags cheering on the performer - is all as it seems? In scenes set it air on Wednesday, August 6, as the big day dawns Dev and Bernie's dream wedding goes from bad to worse when the quads fall ill and have to watch with Joseph on live stream. As she gets ready to walk down the aisle in her unconventional wedding dress, Bernie forgets her lucky charm locket containing the photo of Paul, and when she runs home to get it she disturbs a burglar. Meanwhile the restless guests back at the Bistro are entertained by a song from Debbie Webster who surprises Ronnie with a proposal, will he accept? After such an eventful start to the day, the guests take their seats for the main event and a glowing Bernie walks down the aisle towards Dev to make their vows. Speaking about the chaotic build-up to the big day, actress Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie, said: 'The day goes from bad to worse! 'That's what is so brilliant about Coronation Street, you don't know what you're going to get until you open the page of the script and that's what is so fantastic about how it plays out – we've got this woman raving down the aisle and the next minute she's collapsed and an ambulance is on its way!' Jane also revealed that she had a hand in the design of Bernie's unconventional wedding dress. She said: 'I knew that Bernie wouldn't go down the road of wearing a traditional dress. I had seen some old footage of Elkie Brookes on TV and she was wearing a kaftan. 'I am a big fan of Elkie so that was the initial inspiration, but this is for Bernie so it needed to be a bit extra. 'Our fantastic talented costume department came up with the 1970s style white dress that is a bit Elkie Brookes, a bit Demis Roussos and very Bernie Winter.' It comes after it was reported on Sunday that Corrie and its rival Emmerdale could be hit by a massive cast cull, with proposals to 'cut one in ten cast members' as part of sweeping cost-cutting measures. The broadcaster has announced plans to slash £15million from its budget, after revealing profits have plunged by 44 per cent to £99million for the first half of the year. Now, both soaps are reportedly being targeted in a bid to bring spiralling production costs under control. It has been reported that around 10 per cent of the current cast lists - which include 84 regulars on Corrie and 70 on Emmerdale - are expected to be dropped. Scripts and episode structures are also under review, with producers being told to reduce the number of scenes per episode and tighten shooting schedules. A source told The Sun: 'It's brutal. We've known it was on the cards for a while, but they're really cranking it up now and it's across the soaps. 'They're looking to save millions and Corrie and Emmerdale are the obvious places. They're very expensive shows.' Most actors are contracted per episode and guaranteed a set number annually - a system which is thought to have become unsustainable. Some long-serving cast members are reportedly concerned about their job security, particularly those who rely on a steady income from the soaps. The source added: 'Many who have been there for a long time are reliant on their income staying as it is. 'The amount of cast has spiralled out of control and focusing on dialogue, not action, could also save money.' The proposed cuts come as ITV undergoes a wider restructuring across its daytime programming, with major job losses already hitting shows including Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women.

As Coronation Street's Kit divides viewers, is he soap's next huge villain?
It's fair to say that Kit Green has been a complex addition to Coronation Street. Previously known for his role as kindly everyman Damon Kinsella in Hollyoaks, actor Jacob Roberts has made his mark with his compelling performances as the much more reserved, calculating Kit. But just over a year after his first appearance, we're no closer to understanding exactly which direction Kit is going in as a long-term character. As the long-lost son of Bernie Winters (Jane Hazlegrove), Kit's past with killer Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) and the latter's wife Lou (Farrel Hegarty) was explored in a flashback episode, revealing Kit's role in a horrific firework attack which left a woman severely injured. However, although we saw a young Kit threaten Mick so as to protect himself from any consequences, I'm still reluctant to label Kit as an out and out villain. A remorseful Kit trained as a police officer and, somewhere along the way, he became a corrupt cop. We've seen Kit cover up his own act of criminal damage and menace Beth Sutherland (Lisa George) into leaving Weatherfield after taking over her dodgy side hustle. Yet, another incident saw Kit plant evidence in the vehicle of sexual predator Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper), sending the evil man back to prison where he belonged. Kit also used his position to make life easier for late brother Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and sister Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell). There seems to be a constant tug of war between the devil on Kit's shoulder and his conscience, meaning that he's not quite a villain, but also not a salt-of-the-earth good guy. So, where does that leave him? Well, many before Kit have transitioned from miscreant to popular anti-hero. If Corrie chooses not to double down on his dark side and instead delves further into Kit's psyche, perhaps he'll follow in the footsteps of the multi-layered Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and Gary Windass (Mikey North). They have all dabbled in manipulation, murder or both, but ultimately won over the audience. Confirmation that new cobbles regular Brody (Ryan Mulvey), the boy that Mick raised as his own, was actually fathered by Kit, hints that Coronation Street is committed to cementing Kit as a key fixture. After surviving being stabbed by Mick, Kit rejected Brody but made amends with interfering but well-meaning Bernie in a moment of genuine warmth. When we see Kit around Bernie and Gemma, his vulnerable side comes out. Kit's blossoming romance with Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) has softened him, too, and with imprisoned Mick having cut Brody off for good, this change in demeanour paves the way for Kit to get to know his son. Kit has abandonment issues thanks to Bernie giving him up as a child, and this could be why he can't face parenthood. But, with the show making excessive use of its police station set, will Kit get the chance to face these demons as thoroughly as he deserves? After all, it's whenever he's in work mode that Kit's ruthless side resurfaces. While his ambiguity provides constant intrigue, we're increasingly curious as to whether he'll lean further into his nasty streak or listen to his moral compass, and how that could impact his future. It might seem easier for Kit to be billed as a full-time 'bad boy'. All it would take is one outrageous act that crosses the line from scheming to sinister, and an ensuing pattern that prevents him from ever turning back, as with Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) and Richard Hillman (Brian Capron). More Trending A strong path to redemption has created some of soap land's best-loved anti-heroes, from Emmerdale's Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) to Hollyoaks' Sienna Blake (Anna Passey). That journey doesn't ensure an entirely reformed character; merely one who has earned empathy, likeability and, at times, adoration in the eyes of the viewer – something Kit could produce if given the capacity. Slowly but surely, Kit's armour is cracking. Only time will tell whether this is enough to keep his fiendish side at bay, or if he will become Coronation Street's next big villain. Coronation Street sad exit twist 'sealed' with character's final storyline underway
Coronation Street fans think they have worked out how Aadi Alahan will leave the ITV soap in sad scenes amid is final storyline likely already underway following news of his exit There could be a sad Coronation Street exit twist airing very soon judging by new spoilers and recent episodes. Aadi Alahan is leaving the soap, as reported earlier this year, with actor Adam Hussain bowing out after five years. We haven't got an exit date yet for the character, but with his father Dev Alahan returning to Weatherfield after months offscreen, amid two big twists for his son, it seems it could be soon. Aadi was caught up in drama just weeks ago when he planned to take LSD at a party only for someone else to unknowingly take it. That person, Lauren Bolton, nearly died and has yet to find out Aadi was involved. He's been trying to make amends by helping her out, and in upcoming scenes they grow closer - with this no doubt set to end in heartache. Also, Aadi was the victim of theft last week when someone robbed the shop. Of course it soon emerged that Aadi had staged the whole thing, with the help of troubled teen Brody Michaelis. Brody took off with the money, or so it was assumed as Aadi claimed £6,000 was taken. He'd taken the money from the safe to pay off said loan, hoping the robbery would allow them to claim on the insurance. Next week the drama continues when Aadi realises the insurance company won't pay out. With the money gone, surely it's only a matter of time before he's forced to explain all to his father Dev. Aadi is facing big trouble once he's exposed for both the staged robbery and the LSD spiking, not to mention the betrayal towards his family with the theft of their money to fix his mistake, without telling anyone. With it confirmed Aadi is leaving the show soon, will this all lead to him leaving home for good? Could he face prison, or might he be kicked out by his relatives? Viewers certainly think so and that somehow it's all linked. They have wondered if a sad exit is on the cards as he burns bridges with those on the cobbles. One fan posted online: "Aadi is out of his depth with this robbery and love life. Everything is getting on top of him," as another predicted: "I wonder if this will be when Aadi exits the show?" A third viewer commented of the ongoing drama: "Aadi as if you let things get this bad wtf. Dev is going to go mad this is part of his exit storyline I think."
