Al-Ahly wins egyptian league title for 45th Time

Cairo - Saba: Al-Ahly clinched the Egyptian Premier League title for the third consecutive time and the 45th in its history after crushing Farco with a clean six-goal victory in the final round of the league's crowning stage on Wednesday. Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali emerged as the star of the match, scoring a super hat-trick (four goals) in the 10th, 33rd, 61st, and 66th minutes. Hussein El-Shahat added the fifth goal in the 75th minute, while Imam Ashour sealed the sixth in stoppage time. With this win, Al-Ahly raised its tally to 58 points, maintaining the top spot with a two-point lead over its closest rival, Pyramids FC, which had hoped to secure its first-ever league title. Meanwhile, Farco, which failed to secure a victory in the competition for the fourth consecutive match, remained in seventh place with 32 points. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print

Palestinian Abou Ali seals Ahly win over NBE to maintain Egyptian League lead - Egyptian Football

Palestinian forward Wessam Abou Ali scored a stoppage-time winner as Ahly edged NBE Club 2-1 on Saturday to retain their lead in the Egyptian Premier League Playoff stage. Ahly remain top of the table with 55 points, two ahead of second-placed Pyramids FC, who defeated Petrojet 2-0 also on Saturday. Midfielder Emam Ashour opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a powerful strike from outside the area, moving him to the top of the league's scoring chart with 12 goals. Togolese striker Yaw Annor levelled for NBE Club just before halftime, dribbling past defenders in the box before calmly slotting home. Abou Ali, who came on at the start of the second half in place of Nejc Gradisar, netted the decisive goal in the sixth minute of added time, converting from close range after a well-placed assist by defender Yasser Ibrahim. Ahly coach Emad El-Nahhas also introduced Amr El-Sulaya, Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdi and Hussein El-Shahat in the second half to revitalise his side. El-Sulaya came close with a powerful long-range effort that forced a save from NBE goalkeeper Abdel Aziz El Balouti. Both teams had limited chances in the second half, with possession evenly shared, but Ahly's late push proved enough to secure the three points. Ahly will face Pharco FC on Wednesday, 28 May, in the final round of the Playoff stage, where they could celebrate the league title. Preview: Ahly eye extending historic dominance over Zamalek in Cairo derby - Egyptian Football

Egyptian powerhouse Ahly are gearing up to lock horns with Zamalek in the 15th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday, with the Red Devils aiming to reclaim the league's top spot and cement their dominance over their archrivals. The defending champions enter the game intent on reclaiming first place in the league standings, sitting second with 32 points—just one point behind leaders Pyramids FC, who face Talae El-Geish on Sunday. A victory is crucial for Ahly to keep pace at the top and sustain their title charge this season. On Saturday, Ahly, established in 1907, will also be looking to extend its historical dominance over Zamalek, established in 1911. Out of 253 encounters across all competitions over the decades, the Red Devils have emerged victorious in 110 games, with Zamalek winning only 61 times and 82 matches ending in draws. More recently, the Red Devils beat the White Knights to claim the Egyptian Super Cup in October 2024 after the White Knights defeated the Red Devils to claim the CAF Super Cup a few weeks earlier. The Red Devils have been in excellent form this season under Swiss coach Marcel Koller, securing nine wins and three draws, boasting the league's most potent attack - with 26 goals scored - and one of the tightest defences, conceding only eight goals. Ahly head into the match on the back of a 4-0 thrashing of Ismaily last Sunday, extending their unbeaten run to four games. The victory was further boosted by the return of Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali and Moroccan defender Achraf Dari, who made substitute appearances after lengthy injury layoffs. However, the win was marred by an injury to midfielder Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdi, forcing the playmaker to miss Saturday's derby. This setback adds to an already growing injury list that includes Moroccan left-back Yahia Attiat-Allah, defender Yasser Ibrahim, Reda Slim, Karim Fouad, Ali Maaloul, winger Taher Mohamed Taher and defender Omar Kamal, piling further pressure on 64-year-old Koller. However, the match could also mark the debut of Ahly's Moroccan forward Achraf Bencharki, a January signing and former Zamalek player, who has been named in the squad list. The 30-year-old winger joined the Cairo giants on a two-and-a-half-year deal during the winter transfer window from Qatari side Al-Rayyan. On the other hand, Zamalek enter the game on the back of a 1–1 draw against Petrojet, a match that underscored the team's struggles in recent seasons. The White Knights, currently third in the league table with 27 points, will be eager to secure a win to narrow the gap on their rivals and reinvigorate their own title aspirations. However, in his second game in charge, Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro faces selection headaches with key players unavailable. Defender Hamza Mathlouthi, winter signing midfielder Mahmoud Gehad, defender Ahmed Fatouh, Mahmoud 'Shikabala' Abdel-Razik, and Ahmed Hamdi will miss the game through injury, while Nasser Maher serves a suspension. Preview: Ahly welcome back Abou Ali, Dari in Ismaily clash - Egyptian Football

Defending champions Ahly will use the services of Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali and Moroccan defender Achraf Dari when they face Ismaily in the 14th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday. Ahly are seeking to maintain their winning run to pile more pressure on leaders Pyramids FC. A win against the Dervishes will also boost the team's morale before next week's highly anticipated Cairo derby against rivals Zamalek. Currently occupying second place in the league table with 29 points from 13 games, Ahly trails league leaders Pyramids FC by just one point and maintains a three-point lead over third-placed Zamalek. Abou Ali, 26, returns to the squad after a month-long absence due to muscle issues, with his last appearance dating back to the match against Stade d'Abidjan in the CAF Champions League in mid-January. Moreover, 25-year-old Achraf Dari, who has made only four appearances across all competitions for Ahly since joining the team in August 2024 due to a persistent ankle injury, made the squad. Coach Marcel Koller will rely on Emam Ashour's exceptional form and the recent January signing of Nejc Gradisar, who combined for eight goals in the last five league matches. Injury concerns persist for Ahly, with Moroccan left-back Yahia Attiat-Allah, defender Yasser Ibrahim, and winger Taher Mohamed Taher remaining sidelined. Moreover, newly acquired forward Achraf Bencharki, who has yet to debut on the team, continues recovering from a muscular injury. On the Ismaily side, the struggling team seeks to turn their fortunes around after suffering four consecutive league defeats, culminating in the dismissal of coach Hamad Ibrahim following a recent 2-0 loss to Gouna. Ismaily, having secured only three league victories out of 13 games this season, currently languish in 14th place with 12 points. Under the guidance of interim coach Emad Soliman, Ismaily will be without key midfielder Emad Hamdy due to ongoing injury concerns. However, Palestinian striker Khaled Al-Nabris is set to be available after recovering from a muscular injury.
