Emalahleni already without water amid planned five-day water shutdown

Emalahleni is already experiencing widespread water outages amid a planned five-day water shutdown scheduled from July 21 to July 25. In a water service update issued today, the municipality reported that key reservoirs supplying the city are at low levels. Point A reservoir is at approximately 0%, and Point B is at around 6% capacity. Water is not currently being pumped from Point B to C, which affects downstream zones as well. Point C's reservoir stands at about 51%, Point D at 59%, and Point E at 50%. Due to these low levels, multiple areas are already experiencing low water pressure or no supply at all. Areas affected in the Point A zone include portions of Emalahleni Extension 10, Blancheville, Marelden, Klarinet Extensions, Pine Ridge, portions of Thushanang, Old Coronation, and Emalahleni Correctional Services. Areas in the Point B supply zone facing shortages include Die Heuwel Proper, portions of the Emalahleni CBD, Emalahleni Extensions 1 to 12, Die Heuwel Extension 8, Saveways Crescent Shopping Centre, Del Judor Proper, and Die Heuwel Extension 1. Additional areas served by the B to C reservoir experiencing disruptions are portions of Emalahleni Extensions 16, 18, and 41; Tasbet Park Extensions 2, 3, and 6; Duvha Park Proper; and Duvha Park Extensions 1, 2, 7, and 8. You have an extra week to fill up all your containers as the water shutdown is scheduled to start on July 21 Read more here: #emalahleni #Water #witbank — WitbankNews (@WitbankN) July 14, 2025 Further compounding the crisis, a major leak along the R104 near the diesel depot has caused the municipality to isolate the water supply to KwaGuqa New Extensions (Ezinambeni), KwaMntunzi Vilakazi, Transalloys, and Elandsfontein Mine. Repair teams are currently on-site draining the system in preparation for repairs. Residents are urged to monitor official channels for further updates as the situation develops. This Friday is all about making a difference

This Friday is all about making a difference This Friday South Africans will unite once again to celebrate Mandela Day, a powerful reminder of the values and legacy of the late Nelson Mandela. While it's important to remember that Mandela Day is not a public holiday, it is a national call to action. Mandela Day, celebrated every year, honours the legacy of Nelson Mandela, the first democratically elected president of South Africa and a global icon of peace and reconciliation. The day encourages individuals to dedicate 67 minutes of their time to community service, reflecting the 67 years Mandela spent fighting for social justice. So, while you'll still need to show up at work on Friday, you can honour Nelson Mandela by dedicating 67 minutes to community service. Just don't expect a lie-in. eMalahleni coach found guilty of molesting boys during soccer camps

Soccer coach Sibusiso Gama has been found guilty by the Witbank Magistrate's Court in eMalahleni of molesting minor boys entrusted to his care during soccer camps. Witbank News reports that Gama appeared in court on Tuesday, where legal proceedings surrounding three cases opened two years ago took place. Although he pleaded not guilty to all charges, he was acquitted in the first case, which occurred in September 2023. However, the magistrate found him guilty in the other two cases, which took place in mid-May that year. This follows his arrest in 2024 on charges of molesting three teenage boys during soccer camps. In court, it was revealed that in all three incidents, Gama targeted boys who slept next to him during the camps, using the opportunity to molest them. Gama remains in custody until his sentencing on July 15. Breaking news at your fingertips… Follow Caxton Network News on Facebook and join our WhatsApp channel. Nuus wat saakmaak.
