Fears betrayal ‘hints' put Jackman's public image at risk

For decades they were Australia's golden couple, their story the ultimate fairy tale. But what appeared to be a textbook amicable separation has shattered — and concerns a stellar public image could be at risk. When Hugh Jackman laid eyes on Deborra-Lee Furness while filming ABC TV prison drama Correlli in 1995, it was love at first sight. In fact, Jackman was so confident he knew Furness, who was the 'bigger star' at the time and 13 years his senior, was 'the one' that he asked for her hand in marriage just four months later. Their wedding on April 11, 1996, in Melbourne was splashed across media outlets around the nation, and again when they adopted a son named Oscar in 2000 and five years later, a daughter named Ava. The pair were rarely seen without each other on red carpets, and regularly praised each other in public. In 2016, he called his wife 'the greatest thing that ever happened to [him]'. In 2018, the Wolverine star said: 'I knew two weeks into meeting Deb that we were going to be together for the rest of our lives.' He even serenaded her with a reprise of their wedding song at a Madison Square Garden performance in 2019. Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness at their wedding. Their separation was revealed in a statement: 'We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. 'Our family has been and always will be our highest priority,' it continued. 'We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.' The pair signed off as 'Deb and Hugh Jackman' and concluded: 'This is the sole statement either of us will make.' What appeared to be an amicable split — with relative silence about their heartbreak — shattered last week, when Furness finally filed for divorce. Furness reportedly submitted the paperwork in New York on May 23 after the pair reached an agreement behind the scenes. A settlement was reached that she is pleased with, which includes a handsome spousal support payment,' a source revealed to the Daily Mail. Both are coming out of this financially secure.' The insider added that Furness got the 'closure she needed'. The next step is for the judge to sign off. Another source confirmed there was little drama between the couple while they were agreeing to the terms of the divorce. However, Furness on Tuesday spoke cryptically of 'betrayal' and said she had found 'liberation' after her marriage ended. 'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,' she told the Daily Mail. 'It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us. 'This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. 'I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. 'It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.' While Furness never used the word 'infidelity', the 'betrayal' Furness mentions may allude to cheating allegations. The couple's relationship is believed to have become turbulent during COVID-19, which was around the same time Jackman struck up a friendship with Sutton Foster, his co-star on the hit Broadway revival of The Music Man. With the messy fallout playing out in public and consuming entertainment media, the question of whether their reputations have been damaged has raised its head. 'He has just held this demeanour of a fun, genuine guy who has never been divisive,' she said. 'Obviously, no one really knows what has occurred inside their relationship, but Deborra filing for divorce and using words like betrayal in her statement has inferences into what may have occurred with his new partner. 'Hugh's image is likely to be tainted, but overall, his popularity and fame lean to him. 'If any further information unfolds, this may chip away further, but right now he still folds a favourable image.' Relationships Australia national executive officer Nick Tebbey said dealing with infidelity can be harder to work through in a long-term relationship. 'Infidelity is a really significant breach of trust in that relationship, and that brings with it a whole lot of feelings of hurt and grief and anger over what's happened,' he said. 'When a relationship has been together for for a long period of time, that can be even more acutely felt, because they feel like this bond has been built over a number of years, and people have made a huge investment in that relationship, only to have that happen and to then have to reassess what they thought the relationship was based on.' He said that this situation for a high-profile couple in the public eye added a whole new element to a marriage breakdown. 'Suddenly, all of your private matters are there on the front page of newspapers and all over social media for people to talk about and pore over and analyse,' he said. While their separation was announced more than a year ago, Mr Tebbey said it was common, regardless of the status of the relationship, for feelings to resurface as seen in Furness' recent statement. 'We do research into the sort of impacts of relationships on people, and we see that over a representative sample of the Australian population, the effects of the relationship breakdown can be really lingering, and they can go through ebbs and flows,' he said. 'So it's very normal to sort of have those issues resurface and then have to again, sort of process them.' With some fans thinking Jackman debuting a new relationship soon after his break-up was inconsiderate towards his ex, Furness was reportedly relieved when he went public with his new romance. A source close to Furness revealed she had been suspicious that Jackman was dating Foster but was repeatedly told the pair were just friends. When pictures emerged of Jackman and Foster holding hands, Furness felt a sense of relief that her suspicions had finally been confirmed. The actress admitted in January last year that change was 'frightening', but was looking forward to embracing new opportunities. Speaking amid her return to acting in Force of Nature: The Dry 2 - her first role since 2016 - Furness told the Daily Telegraph: 'It is kind of exciting. 'You know what, change, transition, evolution is a little frightening and we are all a bit scared of it, but I think it is probably our greatest gift.' Jackman was also reportedly dealing with major changes by turning to his children for support. A close friend of Jackman in May last year told Woman's Day: 'Ava and Oscar really rallied around him, and it's made a huge impact. 'He always looks so happy when he's with those two.' The insider said his children had been working to support him in his time of need. 'They know him better than he does and are constantly surprising him,' the source said. 'They've become closer than he could have imagined, and he can confide in them, whereas before he'd turn to Deb.'

EXCLUSIVE Hugh Jackman seen SMILING in public after ex Deborra-Lee Furness' shock divorce statement

Hugh Jackman has been spotted in public for the first time since his ex Deborra-Lee Furness filed for divorce, and he didn't seem bothered as he brushed off the drama. The 56-year-old actor exited his off-Broadway play 'Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes' around 5pm on Friday to greet fans who stood outside New York City 's Minetta Lane Theatre eager to catch a glimpse of him. witnessed the actor in high spirits and was all smiles as he signed his autograph, took photos with adoring fans and even gave some a hug. The Deadpool and Wolverine star, who changed into comfy shorts and a T-shirt, didn't seem bothered by his divorce playing out in the news as he was focused on making the fans happy since they had waited outside over half an hour since the play had ended. He told the crowd, 'Thanks for waiting,' and made sure to thank them for coming, even asking some fans how they were doing. As he made his way to a nearby Citi bike rack, fans continued to approach him and he made sure to give each and every one attention. A few minutes after socializing with fans, he hopped on his Citi bike and rode away. Before Hugh exited the theater, his costar Ella Beatty - Warren Beatty and Annette Bening's 25-year-old daughter - left the theater separately and also took the time to greet fans and sign autographs. When asked about working alongside Hugh, who she has steamy kisses with onstage, she told 'I love Hugh. He's the most wonderful person.' She refused, however, to comment on how he's holding up amid his ex's divorce filing. Instead of responding, she kept quiet and continued to greet fans. revealed earlier this week that the 69-year-old Australian producer had filed a petition for divorce in New York on May 23, nearly two years after they announced their separation. In fact, everything between the couple had been ironed out behind the scenes since multiple court documents on behalf of Furness' attorney were also filed, including the settlement, a proposed judgment of divorce, and certificate of dissolution. All that needs to be done now is for the judge to sign off on the judgment. Furness shocked fans by releasing a statement using the word 'betrayal' when speaking about her 'traumatic journey.' In a statement sent to Deborra-Lee said, 'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal. It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.' She continued, 'This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. 'It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.' She concluded her statement with the 'one thing' that she has learned, which is 'that none of this is personal,' adding, 'We are all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random. 'We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognize and heal the broken parts of ourselves...I remain grateful.' After Furness' shock statement, a source had revealed exclusively to Jackman's 'bitter reaction' to her statement. Jackman was blindsided by her words, the source spilled, as he believed they had an 'understanding' they would not publicly trash one another after having a 'secret agreement.' 'Hugh was extremely disappointed after reading what his ex had said,' the insider explained. 'There was no stipulation that she could not address this but there was an unwritten understanding that she would not trash him to the press. 'She got around this by not naming him - instead focusing on how she felt.' The couple had been married for 27 years and have two adopted children together - their son Oscar, 24, and a daughter Ava, 19. Furness has received a 'handsome spousal support payment,' according to an insider who spoke to which she is 'pleased with.' 'There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement but, in the end, she got what she believed she deserved,' the source added. 'Both are coming out of this financially secure.' A separate source said the divorce is 'non contested,' meaning there was not a major disagreement between the couple divorcing. 'They have worked out the details in advance and everything is ironed out in terms of a settlement, alimony and the expenses for the future of their children,' they said. 'They are amicable and they are both fully committed to being the best parents that they can be.' Jackman, who is dating Sutton Foster and was seen walking hand-in-hand with her days before the filing, is 'looking forward to the future and not looking back.'

Is Hugh Jackman Upset Over Ex-Wife Deborra-Lee Furness' ‘Betrayal' Remarks?

Last Updated: According to reports, Hugh Jackman was upset over his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness breaking their 'unwritten understanding' of not speaking badly about each other in public. Hugh Jackman is 'extremely disappointed" over his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness. The former couple filed for divorce on May 23, nearly two years after announcing their separation. Just a few days later, Furness, an actress and philanthropist, broke her silence on the matter. In a statement to a media portal, she accused the Wolverine actor of 'betraying" her. Furness' words hinted at Jackman's rumoured extramarital affair with his The Music Man co-star Sutton Foster in 2022. Now, Jackman has finally reacted to his ex-partner's public remarks. According to a report by the Daily Mail, an insider revealed that Hugh Jackman was blindsided by Deborra-Lee Furness' statement. It was because the 56-year-old believed that they had an agreement not to publicly trash each other after parting ways. 'Hugh was extremely disappointed after reading what his ex had said. There was no stipulation that she couldn't address this, but there was an unwritten understanding that she wouldn't trash him to the press. She got around this by not naming him, instead focusing on how she felt," said the source, as quoted by the media outlet. Deborra-Lee Furness called her split from Hugh Jackman 'a profound wound that cuts deep." The Australian star, in a conversation with the Daily Mail, shared, 'My heart and compassion go out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal. However, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us. This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage." She added, 'I've gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we're presented with apparent adversity, it's leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. 'It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom." On a concluding note, Deborra-Lee Furness said, 'We're all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random. We're drawn to people, we invite them in, to learn our lessons and to recognise and heal the broken parts of ourselves. I remain grateful." Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness met each other on the sets of an Australian television series in 1995. They got married a year later. The duo is parents to son Oscar and daughter Ava. Hasbro Unveils 'Marvel vs. Capcom' Games-Inspired Marvel Legends Figures

Hasbro has revealed its newest wave of Marvel Legends Gamerverse action figures, featuring ten characters inspired by Capcom's classic fighting game series, Marvel vs. Capcom . These newly announced figures will be released as either individual figures or packs of two, with the full line-up including: Captain America vs. Venom Psylocke vs. Thanos War Machine vs. Omega Red Wolverine vs. Silver Samurai Gargantos Juggernaut These figures will be the latest line-up to Marvel Legends' Gamerverse subline, and will see the debut of Gargantos, alongside updated designs for the remaining characters, with fresh new colour-schemes and body proportions to better suit their appearance in the classic games. These changes include Venom's game-accurate blue colour scheme, War Machine's exaggerated shoulder pads, and various effects parts to simulate the special moves in the game, like Wolverine's Berserker Barrage claw effects and Silver Samurai's Shuriken. Being a Marvel toyline, the collection will understandably omit the Capcom side of the game's roster, so it remains to be seen if Hasbro will announce a separate line featuring iconic characters like Ryu, Chun-Li or Akuma sometime in the future. The line-up also barely scrapes the surface of the entire Marvel roster in the games, but at least for now, fans can make do with existing Marvel Legends releases until the announcement of a potential second wave. In addition, Hasbro has also announced its first wave of Fantastic Four: First Steps toys to coincide with the release of the movie on 25 July, including the titular trio of Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm and The Thing, alongside Johnny in his Human Torch form and the Silver Surfer. Pre-orders for the Marvel Legends Gamerverse action figures will open in June this year, with the figures expected to release in Fall 2025, with the Marvel Legends Fantastic Four First Steps line-up releasing in Summer 2025. Kevin is a reformed PC Master Race gamer with a penchant for franchise 'duds' like Darksiders III and Dead Space 3 . He has made it his life-long mission to play every single major game release – lest his wallet dies trying. action figures Hasbro Marvel Marvel Legends marvel vs capcom
