James Gunn Confirms WONDER WOMAN Is a DCU Priority, but Don't Expect It Anytime Soon — GeekTyrant
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has shared an update on the future of Wonder Woman in the new DCU, and while the Amazon warrior remains a key part of the plan, the project is still in the early stages. When asked about recent reports suggesting the film was being 'fast-tracked' after the huge success of Superman , Gunn told Rolling Stone: 'I don't know what they mean by fast-tracking. I've always had Wonder Woman as a priority. But we got the first few things started, and there's some other things that are really close to green-lighting – like there's a television show that I hope that we're gonna be green-lighting in the next few days.' Gunn explained that while Wonder Woman is crucial to the new DCU, they're taking the time to get it right: 'So now a little time has passed, and we really need Wonder Woman and we really need Batman, because they're so important to us. And so it's become a little bit more like going to everybody at DC and being like, we need to figure this out. 'We have good writers on Wonder Woman and we just have to make sure it's working and they have to not be somebody who's gonna take two years to write a script.' The new Wonder Woman film was confirmed last month, but details remain scarce. Gal Gadot, who portrayed Diana Prince in the DCEU, will not return for this iteration, and the role has yet to be recast. Meanwhile, the DCU is off to a strong start with Superman , the first film in Gunn's DCU plan, now playing in theaters with David Corenswet donning the cape. Gunn has previously teased that Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman will reunite in the new universe, but fans will need to be patient. The Caped Crusader hasn't been recast yet either. For now, we'll just have to wait and see who steps into the boots of the iconic Amazon warrior when Wonder Woman finally arrives in the DCU.

Review – Absolute Wonder Woman #10: Secrets of the Labyrinth
Absolute Wonder Woman #10 cover, via DC Comics. Ray: After a first arc full of kaijus and dark fantasy, Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman have plunged us into one of the best set pieces in all of classic fiction – the minotaur. As Diana makes her way through the massive underground maze, she encounters new enemies – the mad queen Clea and her army of Fish-men who look straight out of the world of Lovecraft. But she also meets some unexpected new allies – the hulking but gentle minotaur Ferdinand, who has been trapped there for eons, and the seemingly mute young siren Petra. The issue opens with a dramatic fight scene, as Clea unleashes her army. As Ferdinand makes an unexpected sacrifice, Diana dedicates herself to protecting the young girl in her care – but then pulls a classic Diana move of her own, getting to the exit but turning back. No man left behind, even if they have a giant bull's head. Monsters of the deep. Via DC Comics. One of my favorite parts about this book has been how well it sews together its present day plot-driven segments with the flashbacks to Diana's youth. This issue finds Diana in her younger years, first beginning her training as a warrior with the secret guidance of the Gods. She doesn't want to hurt anyone, and she sticks to this when a massive demonic cat-monster arrives in hell, refusing to take its bait – until it tries to harm an innocent creature under her protection, and it discovers just how far she's willing to go. That drive is what brings her back to the labyrinth to rescue Ferdinand. As this issue comes to a close, though, Diana might need to be more concerned with her own safety – the Fish-Men have a unique hallucinogenic property that turns the maze into a kaleidoscope of surreal visuals that allow Hayden Sherman's art to really lean into the brilliantly surreal. Another excellent issue of one of the best books on the stands. To find reviews of all the DC issues, visit DC This Week. GeekDad received this comic for review purposes. Liked it? New "Wonder Woman" Movie Finds It "Supergirl" Writer Ana Nogueira
Yara Sameh 'Supergirl' screenwriter Ana Nogueira has been tapped to write DC Studios' new redo of "Wonder Woman". Nogueira is also writing a live-action 'Teen Titans' for the studio. "Wonder Woman" has become a major priority for the studio. On July 16, DC was reported to be fast-tracking the feature project, and DC Studios co-chief James Gunn told Entertainment Weekly in June that a 'Wonder Woman' movie 'is being written right now.' The studio is also developing 'Paradise Island,' a TV series for HBO set on Wonder Woman's home of Themyscira, though Gunn has said progress on that project is 'slow moving.' Nogueira started her career as an actor, including on 'The Michael J. Fox Show,' 'The Vampire Diaries' and most recently the crime series 'Hightown.' 'Supergirl,' directed by Craig Gillespie ('Cruella') and starring Milly Alcock ('House of the Dragon'), will be her first produced screenplay. It is adapted from the graphic novel 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow' by Tom King. The film is scheduled to open on June 26, 2026. The Princess of Themyscira was first played on the big screen by Gal Gadot in 2017's 'Wonder Woman' directed by Patty Jenkins. The film grossed $822 million worldwide, shattering the industry's false presumption that audiences weren't interested in female-led superhero movies. Gadot and Jenkins teamed up again for 'Wonder Woman 1984,' which opened on Christmas in 2020 at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. She also played the character in 2017's 'Justice League,' 2021's 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' and 2023's 'The Flash.' When Gunn and Peter Safran took the reins of DC Studios, however, they effectively rebooted the DC Universe, starting with the streaming series 'Creature Commandos' and Gunn's feature film 'Superman,' which has grossed $406.8 million globally since it opened on July 11. Alcock appeared in a brief cameo at the end of the film, when she picked up her dog Krypto, who'd been staying with the Man of Steel while she was away. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks
