Pete Davidson is set to become a dad for the first time, after girlfriend Elsie Hewitt announced her pregnancy. The Saturday Night Live star, 31, has been linked to the Industry actress, 29, since March, with the pair spotted looking cozy in Palm Beach. They moved in together a few months later, and have now confirmed that they are taking the next step in their romance by starting a family. The mom-to-be shared her baby news on Instagram earlier today, posting a string of loved-up photos and videos with her beau – including footage of their hospital scan. Glasgow woman could voice Lidl's new self-checkouts
Alan Cumming has teamed up with Lidl to help find their favourite Scottish voice in honour of the retailer's Scottish self-checkout roll-out. In May, Lidl put out a call to the nation to audition to be the voice of these new self-checkouts through a combination of a touring in-store phone booth and a dedicated WhatsApp audition line. Marco Ivone, regional director of Lidl GB in Scotland, said: "Over 5000 people from every corner of Scotland have stepped up to the mic, which just shows how much pride people take in their local dialects - and how game we are to have a bit of fun with it too. "We can't wait to give the winner their moment on our self-checkouts, adding further Scottish flavour to the Lidl shopping experience." Alan Cumming, known for his roles in popular films and TV programmes such as X-Men and The Good Wife, was given the job of revealing the Scottish finalists, including Glasgow resident Lauren, who were selected from thousands of auditionees. He said: "It's high time our self-checkouts had a bit more character and Scottish flair - and let's be honest, who doesn't want to be told that they've got an unexpected item in the bagging area by someone who sounds like their favourite cousin from Fife or sassy auntie from Glasgow? "I had an utterly delightful time listening to the 10 auditionees give it laldy; some were bold, some were bizarre, others would have me scanning in an instant! "It's a proper rollercoaster of accents, intonations, and glorious Scottishness." Actor Shawn Ashmore and his wife have broken their silence on the horrific 2023 murder of their close friend, who was killed by her husband — the son of a top Hollywood executive. Samuel Bond Haskell IV, who dismembered Mei Li Haskell and her parents two years ago, committed suicide in jail just days before a court hearing related to the case, according to the LA District Attorney's Office. KTLA The day laborers returned the bags and money while Haskell told the crew the bags were filled with Halloween props, according to an interview with KNBC. Haskell IV was arrested at a shopping mall nearby and was charged with his wife's and in-laws' murders on Nov. 8.

X-Men actor Shawn Ashmore shares heartbreaking tribute after murder of friend
Shawn Ashmore has spoken out after the murder of his friend Mei Li Haskell, days after the suspect took his own life. The X-Men star, 45, and his wife Dana, 42, shared a heartbreaking tribute saying their 'hearts are heavy' but they do have some closure. Mei Li, 37, was murdered in her home in Tazana, California, on November 6, 2023, along with her mother Yanxiang Wang, 64, and her stepfather Gaoshan Li, 71. Sam Haskell IV, the son of a prominent Hollywood executive, was accused of the murders and took his own life on Saturday while awaiting trial. 'Our hearts are heavy, but we feel some small sense of peace knowing there is finally a bit of closure,' said Shawn and his wife in a statement. The couple reportedly helped local police with their investigation, so have not been able to address the case publicly until now. They continued: 'We are mourning the loss of an extraordinary mother, someone who poured her entire heart into her three boys and never stopped putting them first.' The Boys actor initially met Mei Li in 2022 through their children, who became friends after going to school in the same area. 'She was so generous, so kind, so loving,' Dana said to TMZ. 'She's someone that never deserved this.' The outlet reports she was discovered after being dismembered and her body brutally disposed of in the bin. Her parents' bodies were not found. Mei Li was a devoted mother as well as an avid pickleball player and loved collecting Pokémon cards, according to the couple. One memory shared was when she brought a children's cooking set from China for their kids as a gift. '[Mei Li] was more than a friend; she went above and beyond for everyone who had the gift of knowing her. Her love, her laughter, her warmth — she's deeply missed, and always will be.' More Trending Haskell was found dead in his cell in the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, with TMZ reporting he left behind a note saying he would miss his 'three best friends', meaning his sons. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said of the suicide: 'Instead of standing before a judge and answering for the crimes he's been charged with, the defendant managed to escape justice. Killed off in X-Men franchise, the Superman actor is now soaring in the DC universe
Marvel Studios definitely have their backs up after the positive reactions received by James Gunn's latest film, Superman. The film's box office collection is also growing exponentially by the day. One of the key takeaways from the film was the introduction of the Justice Gang, and out of the three superheroes, Mister Terrific has left a mark. Played by Edi Gathegi, the character added serious firepower to the film, and it is quite interesting to know that DC's latest winning stead was once in a competing stable and was part of the X-Men. Everyone is wondering, did Marvel lose out on a winner? Back in 2011, the X-Men franchise was owned by 20th Century Studios, and they came out with the film X-Men: First Class, which followed the journey of a young Charles Xavier and Magneto trying to create a mutant super team in order to deal with the repercussions of coming out to the world about their abilities. One of the young recruits was a mutant named Darwin (played by Edi), and anyone who is familiar with the comics knows about the incredible shape-shifting capabilities he possessed. What came as a surprise was that he was killed in the movie by Sebastian Shaw, and fans never got the chance to see the character develop. Interestingly, he had very similar powers to Metamorpho, who appears in Gunn's Superman, but obviously did not have a happy ending. ALSO READ: Superman ending explained: What it means for new DCU movies and Peacemaker season 2 Edi Gathegi recently revealed to THR that he had expressed concerns about the script to his agent and how he felt that killing the only male Black character halfway into X-Men: First Class was a cliche thing to do. He said, 'So I read the script, and I called my agents to say, 'Hey, listen, I have a problem with the fact that this character is the only Black character in the film aside from Zoë Kravitz's character. I am also the only mutant who meets an untimely demise halfway through the film.' It was 2009 at the time, and I was like, 'Killing the Black guy first is so played out. I can't do this.'' Edi added that he was told that the character's untimely death was part of a larger plan and he would return in the later films in the franchise, but nothing of the sort ever happened, which the actor expressed came as a 'surprise' to him. Now all these years later, Edi has made peace with the studios' decision and is currently bearing the fruits of his incredible portrayal of Mr Terrific. Fighting alongside Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion) and Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) as the Justice Gang, Edi stole the show with his sarcastic quips, entertaining fight sequences and an air of domination. He added, 'With X-Men, the message that I received as an actor and as a man of colour in this world is you can be the most powerful mutant in the world, and they'll never let you reach your full potential. Whereas with Mister Terrific in Superman, the message that I'm receiving is you can be one of the most intelligent characters in the universe, and you can make a difference. You can help save the world. It's a different level of conversation.'
