Paul Ainsworth: excellence is baked into every aspect of the BMW X7

I am completely aware of what a privilege it is to live in Cornwall. With the beaches, moorlands and woods all on your doorstep, one minute you can be knee-deep in salt water or flying down a trail on your bike, and the next you might be somewhere beautiful and calm, warming up with something rich and delicious, surrounded by your loved ones. That contrast is something I think about often. It mirrors the balance that I am always aiming to strike with my work. At our restaurants, we talk about two things: the standard of the food and the sincerity of the hospitality. For me, the technical side of what we do – the sourcing, the freshness, the creativity and the presentation – has to be spot on. But how you feel when you walk through the door is just as important. We want to be generous, welcoming and people-first. It is our pleasure to have you. That's the kind of hospitality I grew up with, watching my parents run a guesthouse, and it stuck with me. The BMW X7 really reminds me of that duality. As a machine, it has technical brilliance baked into it, from the M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine and the all-wheel xDrive system to the adjustable air suspension and active-roll stabilisation. It is powerful and impressive, with advanced features like Integral Active Steering and a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. The car moves with control and composure, even over tricky terrain. I took it down onto the beach at Porthilly, with the tide out and the silt thick under the wheels, and it just glided through it. But then, there's the other side of the car: the experience of being inside it. As a driver, you spend probably 90 per cent of your time in the interior. So while it looks beautiful from the outside – with its large kidney grille, slim headlights and long wheelbase – the cabin is where it really shines. The seats are unbelievably comfortable, the panoramic sunroof opens the whole cabin to light and plenty of little touches, such as heated and cooled cupholders and soft-close doors. It's not showy; in fact, in many ways it's carefully understated. But it's confident, cosy and reassuring, just like I aim to be with my restaurants. Even the ambient lighting and materials, such as Fineline open-pore wood trim, have achieved that balance of modern luxury and subtlety. It creates a space that feels like a calm cocoon, whether you're on a short hop to school or going up and down the rolling hills. As I've always said, it's a privilege for us to have guests dining with us, not the other way around. That's the attitude we bring to every table, and it's the same feeling I get when I'm in the X7. It's not shouting at you; it's not brash but it's clearly delivering a first-class experience. The space inside the car is also brilliant. We've got two young girls and one of them goes to school 30 miles away. Beyond that, I could be taking my daughter Cici to her surfing lessons at Polzeath, dropping my wife Emma off for a coastal walk or heading out for a family beach day. So we drive here, there and everywhere. The X7 handles all these different demands with ease. There's room for everyone, even our cockapoo Freddie. I love that the rear two seats in the third row fold away at the press of a button to give us space for up to seven people if we need it. It's extremely practical, but without compromising on enjoyment. It's the balance of brilliant performance and confident capability with seriously impressive finishing touches that make the X7 such a standout. Whether you're loading up the back with paddleboards or just doing the family's daily commutes, it delivers technically and comfortably. It's the kind of refinement that doesn't forget the human side of the experience. To me, that's the definition of luxury.

UAE's first electric bike to be launched in July; details revealed

The first electric bike designed, developed and manufactured in the UAE has been launched, which can go up to 200 kilometres with a fully-charged battery. Launched at the Make it in the Emirates exhibition in Abu Dhabi on Monday by electric mobility firm EDaddy, the X7 bike's name and design have been inspired by the seven emirates and UAE's national bird falcon. In an interview with Khaleej Times on the sidelines of the exhibition, Yasmeen Jawaharali, co-founder and COO of EDaddy, said the bike will cost Dh12,000 to Dh15,000 as it will come with different sub-versions and a top speed of 180km. She added that it will be fully rolled out in July for individuals and delivery companies across the country. ' We are in the process of approvals. Today is the first-ever soft launch of the product and it will be available in July. We have two manufacturing facilities already built in the National Industrial Park and Dubai Industrial City. It is in the testing phase and hope to get operational in two months,' she added. 'We are also expanding into Abu Dhabi and looking at Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (Kezad),' she said. The start-up has raised $15 million in investment and is likely to raise further funds for the rollout across the UAE and expansion. On average, she revealed that a delivery rider travels around 200km per day. 'We will also roll out battery-swapping stations in the UAE for the efficiency of riders. For last-mile delivery and quick commerce delivery solutions, it is all about time as they compete to deliver as quickly as possible. To make it more efficient for the rider and end-customers for faster delivery, we'll introduce a swapping station to replace the depleted battery in two minutes with a new fully-charged battery. We are starting with four four-kilometre radius,' she said during the interview. The company also developed the Thunderbolt X Next Gen fleet infrastructure platform — an end-to-end platform covering real-time data and analytics from the battery cell. 'The platform monitors the driver behaviour while an inbuilt camera gives a good analysis of the blind spot — just like a car. This is the first of its kind for the two-wheeler. This has been introduced keeping in mind accidents and safety for riders,' she said. The company also plans to manufacture three-wheelers in UAE for Africa, local and other markets. 'We see three-wheelers as a very big market in Africa and across various parts of the world. Even in India, it is the second largest market. So we thought to manufacture for UAE and also for the world in the Emirates,' she added.

BMW Launches Killer X7 Lease Offer

When the BMW X7 debuted in 2019, it entered the fray of the premium full-size, three-row SUV segment against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS, Audi Q7, Infiniti QX80, and the Lexus LX. BMW brought its performance DNA to the luxury SUV game, blending its requisite impressive driving dynamics with opulent comfort and high-tech features. In 2023, the X7 adopted a polarizing front end with split front lighting clusters and some of the biggest kidney grilles ever found on a BMW. Even two years later, it remains the automaker's flagship SUV, offering serious performance, bold styling, and a plush ride that challenges even traditional full-size luxury sedans. BMW's 2025 X7 comes in two versions: the xDrive40i and the M60i. The xDrive40i is powered by a smooth turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with mild-hybrid assistance, good for 375 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. For even more firepower, the M60i brings a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, delivering a whopping 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, enough to roast many sports cars. Both models feature BMW's sophisticated xDrive all-wheel drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2025 X7 xDrive40i starts at $84,300, and the M60i at $111,900, but BMW's current lease deals make them far more attainable, offering an appealing entry point into the world of full-size luxury SUVs for less than you'd think. BMW has rolled out national lease incentives for both X7 models, and the numbers are surprisingly competitive given the SUV's size, capabilities, and luxury status. For May 2025, you can lease a 2025 BMW X7 xDrive40i for $1,049 per month over 39 months, with 24,375 miles during the lease period. There's a $6,025 down payment, a $925 acquisition fee, and a $0 security deposit, bringing the total due at signing to $8,179, including your first month's payment. This lease offer is available across the country, with no regional pricing, so what you see is what you pay, regardless of location. This lease offer is good through June 2, 2025. Learn more here. If it's top-tier luxury appointments and authoritative power you want, the M60i is calling. BMW's lease deal on the 2025 X7 M60i is almost as enticing as its less powerful sibling's. You can now lease this V8-powered beast for $1,319 per month for 39 months, also with 24,375 miles during the lease period. There's a $7,495 down payment, the same $925 acquisition fee, and no security deposit, bringing the total due at signing to $9,739. As with the xDrive40i version, this lease deal is good through June 2, 2025. Learn more here. Even in its base xDrive40i trim, the 2025 X7 has a commanding presence. The front end might be polarizing with its monster nostrils and pinched headlight clusters, but it definitely won't go unnoticed. The X7 xDrive40i gets standard 21-inch wheels with 22- or 23-inch ones as optional equipment, while the M60i gets 21- or 22-inch wheels with optional 23-inch wheels. Inside, the cabin feels like a cinematic treat with a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, framed within a single, enormous curved panel that spans most of the dash. BMW's iDrive 8.5 interface is sharp, responsive, and supports the standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The xDrive40i receives standard four-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, heated and power-adjustable front seats with memory, ambient interior lighting, and a power tailgate. Safety features like forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and a surround view monitor come standard on all X7s. Rear seat passengers enjoy ample legroom in the second row, but the third row can be tight for taller occupants. While total cargo space is generous, with up to 90.4 cubic feet of seats folded flat, the room behind the third row is only 13 cubic feet. Optional Captain's Chairs reduce seating capacity from seven to six but offer greater comfort for middle-row occupants. In terms of fuel efficiency, the xDrive40i gets an EPA-rated 16 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined. The M60i sacrifices very little efficiency for gobs more power, coming in at 16mpg city, 20 mpg highway, and the same 18 mpg combined. But its extra horsepower, sportier handling, and M-tuned exhaust bring a more thrilling driving character to the X7. The M60i features standard air suspension with adaptive dampers, an M Sport differential, and M Sport brakes for the full performance package. It also provides standard rear-wheel steering and roll stabilization for truly remarkable agility and control through corners, to the point that the SUV feels way smaller than it is. The 2025 BMW X7 isn't just about size and status; it's also a serious performer. With national lease deals now available for both the stately xDrive40i and the ferocious M60i, there's never been a better time to get behind the wheel of BMW's largest and most luxurious SUV. If you've been waiting for the right moment to move up to a full-size luxury SUV that blends performance, elegance, and cutting-edge tech, the X7 does not disappoint. As always, check with your local BMW dealer for full details, fine print, and any dealer-specific promotions. Be sure to factor in monthly payments, taxes, and registration fees into your overall budget. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

New BMW X7 luxury SUV confirmed with an electric iX7 also on the cards

Large SUVs are big business and BMW has just confirmed its largest, the X7, will return for another generation. The relatively low-key announcement was made during BMW's Q1 financial results call, where the company revealed it had incurred the research and development costs for the upcoming Neue Klasse line-up (which will launch later this year with the new iX3) as well as 'successor models to the BMW X5 and BMW X7'. We have known the X5 will return with a fifth-generation model next year for quite some time now, and we've also spotted it testing with some clear design influences from BMW's Neue Klasse concepts. But this is the first time we've had confirmation of a second-generation X7, and we're yet to see the new car testing on the road. Advertisement - Article continues below As with the new X5 that's due to launch in 2026, the X7, which is likely to arrive in 2027, is expected to sit on a revised version of BMW's existing Cluster Architecture (CLAR). This platform is able to cater to both internal-combustion and pure-electric powertrains. While BMW hasn't suggested the new X7 will gain a pure-electric variant, the German firm has at least trademarked the 'iX7' nameplate. An all-electric iX7 wouldn't be too surprising, however, given that BMW is in the process of creating EV variants of its core models. The Neue Klasse programme will see the introduction of the X3-sized iX3 first, followed by the all-electric 'i3' 3 Series and at a later stage an electric 'i1' 1 Series. It's possible the electric components for the iX7 could be taken from the i7. Powering the CLAR-underpinned i7 is a 105.7kWh battery with three different power outputs – a single-motor rear-wheel-drive 449bhp unit, a dual-motor four-wheel-drive 537bhp version and a top-rung dual-motor with 650bhp. Given the X7 is an SUV, we'd expect only the dual-motor all-wheel-drive layouts to be offered. BUY A USED BMW X7 NOW Click here for our list of the best luxury SUVs ...
