5 more arrested in Faridkot murder case

'Our team recovered two .30 bore pistols with 11 live cartridges and one Glock pistol with 8 rounds from their possession. Another shooter, Chinki and a native of Sirsa, Suraj Kumar, who had provided shelter to the shooters, are already in the police custody,' said the DIG. He said that investigations revealed that weapons and money were supplied by one Piyush Pehalwan alias Rajan, who is based in Malaysia, and his father, Jaswant Singh alias Mangal. DIG said that Yadvinder became a victim of a mistaken identity, as the criminals had come to target Jiwanjot Singh Chahal alias Jugnu, a native of Mansa and an accused in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case. Police said that the fugitive gangster Lucky Patial was the mastermind behind targeting Chahal, but Yadwinder became a victim. The deceased was working as a driver for Chahal and Yadwinder was driving the SUV when he was shot dead by three bike-borne assailants at Brahmanwala village in Faridkot last week.

Fugitive hiding in US among 12 booked for petrol bomb attack on Ludhiana realtor, 6 held
The Ludhiana Rural Police Wednesday arrested six suspects while six others including a fugitive hiding in the United States (US) are absconding, in connection with the alleged petrol bomb and gunfire attack outside the house of a realtor in Baddowal village of the district that happened in wee hours on July 10. Police said that the attack was orchestrated by Kunwarveer Singh, a history-sheeter currently hiding in the US. The case pertains to a recent petrol bomb and gunfire attack at the house of Yadwinder Singh alias Yadi in Baddowal, carried out in wee hours of July 10. DSP (Dakha) Varinder Singh Khosa said that arrested suspects are Harshpreet Singh Bhullar alias Harsh of Deep Nagar of Patiala, Dhruv Thakur of Jagdish Colony of Patiala, Ekjot Singh of Adarsh Colony of Bhadson Road of Patiala, Gurinder Brar alias Guri of Nihal Singh Wala of Moga, Baljinder Singh of Village Bhamma Landa of Moga and Amrik Singh of Village Jawahar Singh Wala of Ferozepur. The police claimed recovery of two vehicles used in the crime along with petrol bombs. DSP Khosa said that the crime was not a random act but a carefully plotted assault, stemming from a land dispute between Yadwinder Singh and one Dildar Singh, a resident of Village Jainpur. The latter allegedly reached out to Kunwarveer Singh—currently hiding in the US—to arrange the attack, said police. 'Dildar Singh contacted Kunwarveer Singh in the US who further hired local assailants including Harshpreet Bhullar, Sahil Malhotra, Sahil alias Matru, and Riaz to execute the attack,' said the DSP. On the intervening night of July 9 and 10, the accused hurled a petrol bomb at Yadwinder Singh's residence in Baddowal. As the victim came out to check, the attackers opened fire. Although Yadwinder miraculously escaped the firing, the accused also filmed the attack on their phone, said police. According to police, the assailants used a stolen Hyundai i20 for the attack. The vehicle was procured by Ekjot Singh and was under his possession for 15 days prior to the incident. Among the accused still on the run are Dildar Singh, Kunwarveer Singh (in the US), Sahil Malhotra, Sahil alias Matru, Riaz from Patiala, and Jazzy. The DSP confirmed that the FIR, initially registered at Mullanpur Dakha police station under sections 125 (acts that endanger human life or personal safety due to rashness or negligence) and 326 (offense of mischief by injury, inundation, fire, or explosive substance) of the BNS, and sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act, has now been expanded with the inclusion of additional sections 109 (attempt to murder), 249 (offense of harbouring an offender), 3 (5) (common intention) of BNS.

Miscreants lob petrol pump, open fire at realtor's house
Ludhiana: Unidentified miscreants in a car allegedly lobbed a petrol bomb and fired multiple gunshots at the house in Pakhowal area. The house owner is engaged in the real estate business. Police have formed multiple teams to track the accused. On Friday evening, Dakha Police filed a case against the unidentified accused under sections 125 (Act endangering the life or personal safety of others) and 326 (Mischief by injury, inundation, fire or explosive substance, etc) of BNS and under the Arms Act after they allegedly threw a bottle containing explosive material and fired at the house of property dealer Yadwinder Singh of Baddowal. Dakha DSP Varinder Singh Khosa did not reveal much but said that several teams were working on the case and the accused would be arrested soon. Police said that 30 persons from neighbouring villages had been questioned in the case. They added that police were also scanning CCTV camera footage of the complainant's house and neighbouring areas. Bathinda man kills father, cremates body to destroy evidence; arrested
A 49-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his father and cremating the body at his residence to destroy the evidence of the crime, in Sivian village of Bathinda. The accused has been identified as Yadwinder Singh. Superintendent of police (city) Narinder Singh on Friday that Yadwinder had shot dead his father Birinder Singh over a property dispute on May 20. Initial police investigation suggests that only Yadwinder and his father were at home when the crime took place, said the SP. Singh said that a forensic team collected samples of burnt bones, which have been sent for DNA match. Experts have also found blood stains on a cot, which would be analysed, he added. Investigators said that Yadwinder used his father's licensed .12 bore rifle and shot twice, killing Birinder instantly. A case was registered against Yadwinder under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and various sections of the Arms Act at the Thermal police station. Police officials said that after the crime, a few relatives had reached the crime spot, where the body was cremated. 'We were tipped off by a few villagers who grew suspicious after Yadwinder did not take his father's body to the village cremation ground. Taking swift action, a team of investigators rushed to the spot and seized the ashes. Yadwinder was questioned and he revealed how he committed the crime. We are investigating if more people were involved in the crime,' added the SP.
