Ammon News - Minister of Transport Wissam Tahtamouni on Tuesday met with Turkish Ambassador to the Kingdom Yakup Caymazoglu to discuss enhancing cooperation in the transportation sector between Jordan and Turkey, particularly in public transport, air traffic, and institutional partnerships. The meeting, held at the Ministry and attended by the Turkish Embassy's Commercial Attaché Mehmet Ural and Director General of the Hejaz Railway Zahi Khalil, focused on strengthening ties to serve the mutual interests of both countries. Tahtamouni highlighted the deep-rooted fraternal relations between Jordan and Turkey, praising Turkey's advanced public transport system and the ongoing cooperation between the Hejaz Railway Corporation and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). She noted that this partnership has yielded several key initiatives and joint projects in recent years. The minister also commended the robust activity in the aviation sector between the two countries, reflecting vibrant tourism and economic exchange. For his part, Ambassador Caymazoglu expressed appreciation for the strong Jordanian-Turkish relations and underscored his country's interest in expanding cooperation across transportation sectors, particularly land transport. He affirmed Turkey's readiness to share expertise and provide technical support to help advance infrastructure and enhance logistics services in Jordan. The meeting falls within the broader framework of ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation in transportation, which supports the sustainable development priorities of both nations.

The ambassador was accompanied by Director of the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre Ansar Fırat and Commercial Attaché Mehmet Ural, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The visit aimed to deepen bilateral ties and explore opportunities that benefit the business community in Irbid Governorate. Shouha welcomed the Turkish delegation, commending the long-standing relationship between Jordan and Turkey. He also stressed the importance of enhancing trade partnerships and promoting exchange between business leaders from both countries. Shouha also highlighted Irbid's strategic economic role as Jordan's northern gateway, noting its advantageous location and robust local and regional economic networks, making it an attractive hub for investment and commerce. Both sides also discussed challenges facing trade and investment, including customs procedures, transportation logistics and licensing requirements. They also underscored the need to strengthen cooperation in tourism, education and cultural exchange. The discussion also focused on regional political challenges and their impact on economic stability, emphasising the importance of regional cooperation and economic integration to overcome geopolitical obstacles. Ambassador Caymazoglu reaffirmed Turkey's commitment to expanding joint initiatives, particularly in northern Jordan, and increasing the presence of Turkish products and expertise in the local market. Ansar Fırat expressed the Yunus Emre Cultural Centre's readiness to expand its cultural programmes in Irbid in cooperation with local institutions, seeing this as a means to foster mutual understanding and strengthen people-to-people ties. Ural stressed the need to establish direct communication channels between Jordanian and Turkish business communities and to provide the necessary facilitations to boost trade exchange and mutual benefits.

The Turkish ambassador and the representative of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, along with several delegations, laid wreaths at the memorial to the martyrs, while buglers played the Last Post.
