Bethany community comes together to grant 5-year-old boys Make-A-Wish
CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — Community members came together Thursday to support a special young boy. Yard Goats, Make-A-Wish celebrate World Wish Day WPLR's Chaz and AJ, Connecticut Make-A-Wish and the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department teamed up to help raise money for 5-year-old Teddy, a Bethany resident who was diagnosed with cancer when he was just eight months old. Teddy loves giraffes, dance parties and Hot Wheels. His one Make-A-Wish wish was to have a backyard race track — a dream that will soon become a reality. Since the beginning of his journey, the outpouring of love and support that we and Teddy has received… we can't even describe,' Cara Hutchinson said. 'We are forever grateful to everybody, the amount of love. It's such a beautiful thing.' 'He is going to have this as not only as something he can remember today,' Tara Navara, chief development officer for Make-A-Wish, said. 'It's a memory that's going to continue for a lifetime, as he experiences his wish in his own backyard.' The $10,000 needed for Teddy's backyard race track wish was raised in less than 30 hours. State artists honored at Connecticut Arts Awards
HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The Connecticut Arts Awards were held at the Infinity Music Hall in Hartford on Wednesday night. The event recognized several honorees who are engaged in or support the arts here in Connecticut. Yard Goats days away from the start of their 10th season 'I don't do what I do for recognition, but it's really cool for people to recognize what I am doing,' said Alicia C. Cobb of Bridgeport. 'Art saved me as a child,' Cobb continued. 'It's a thing that gave me a voice when I felt like I really didn't have one. And I feel like that's kind of what I'm kind of guiding kids through now, not just kids but also adults, kind of helping them find their creative voices and their way in the world.' Organizers say the awards aim to support art making and art participation for everyone. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Dunkin' Park sees new menu items this baseball season
HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — It's time for another summer of Yard Goats baseball in Hartford. The menu at Dunkin' Park is getting even longer, with nearly two-foot long French fries to go along with the two-foot hot dogs the park implemented last year. Minor League Baseball names Hartford Yard Goats Organization of the Year 'There's been this kind of move at Dunkin' Park to get longer and longer and longer and bigger, so watching those two-foot hot dogs last season was incredible, we've loaded them up again this year,' Conor Geary, in-game host and sponsorship sales manager for the Yard Goats, said. Team officials and stadium personalities say they want to maximize the options for stadium guests in the Yard Goat's 10th season. Dunkin' Park is the largest restaurant in Connecticut. Other new menu items include a jalapeno popper grilled cheese and a meatloaf doughnut sandwich. Executive Chef Joe Bartlett has spent most of the offseason dreaming up new creations. 'I'm excited about the loaf, loaf doughnut,' Bartlett said. 'Should be interesting, it's a homemade meatloaf that we make in house. All the flavors are there. You get the savory with that and the sweetness of the doughnut.' The goal is to have fans show up hungry and leave full. Watch the full video in the player above. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
