BCom student robs gold from uncle's house for trips with BF
BENGALURU: A BCom student and three others have been arrested by the Kothanur police for stealing over 1 kg of gold ornaments from her uncle's house to fund a lavish lifestyle with her boyfriend. The accused spent several lakhs of rupees on parties and trips, the police said. The accused are- Sachita, Yashwanth (her boyfriend and classmate), Tanush and Ramprakash (both are Yashwanth's friends). All of them are in their early 20s. In June first week, Sachita's uncle, B N Srinivas, filed a complaint stating that over 1 kg of gold ornaments kept in his house locker had been stolen. He initially suspected two domestic workers might be involved in the theft, but it was later found out that they were clean. It was found that Sachita was regularly visiting the house over the past six months before the crime came to light, which raised suspicion, the police said. The police further added that, during interrogation, Sachita confessed that large quantities of gold were kept in her uncle's house and she began stealing the ornaments in phases starting from January. She used to pass the ornaments to Yashwanth, and he then passed them to his friends Tanush and Ramprakash. The trio used to melt it and convert it into gold bars and sell them. The police have seized ornaments worth Rs 65 lakh and Rs 10 lakh in cash from the accused.

Andhra Police nab Rs 15 crore land-forgery gang, arrest seven
ONGOLE: Police in Prakasam district have dismantled a major land-forgery racket, arresting seven members of a 14-strong gang that allegedly tried to seize prime property in Sankhavaram with falsified documents. Acting on instructions from Prakasam Superintendent of Police AR Damodar, a team led by Kanigiri DSP Sai Eswar Yashwanth and Circle Inspector Shaik Khaja Vali raided multiple locations late Tuesday and took the suspects into custody. They were produced in court on Wednesday. According to DSP Yashwanth, the gang fabricated title deeds to grab 0.95-acre of land in Survey Nos.301 and 302, valued at about Rs 15 crore. The principal accused include Gona Barnabas, Annapureddy Konda Reddy, Jutike Dilwan and Mukku Venkateswarlu of Gudipatipalli (Veligandla mandal); Mukku Venkata Sriramulu Reddy of Immadicheruvu; Sanikommu Brahma Reddy of Doddichintala (HM Padu mandal); and Balbhadra Ravi of CS Puram. Seven others remain at large. The fraud came to light when the rightful owner, Polamreddy Mala Konda Reddy, noticed irregularities and filed a complaint. Investigators cross checked records at the Sub-Registrar, MRO and Surveyor offices, confirming that forged papers had been created to transfer ownership. A case has been registered under Sections 61(2), 318(4), 338, 336(3) and 340(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police say arrests of the remaining suspects are imminent. 'We are committed to curbing land-grabbing through forged documents,' DSP Yashwanth said, warning real estate offenders of strict action and advising buyers to verify titles thoroughly before any transaction.

Sigachi used old machinery despite requests to change, says FIR
Sigachi Industries Ltd had been using outdated machinery and workers were compelled to operate it, the FIR registered against the management stated. The explosion at the firm's Pashamylaram unit two days ago left 37 dead and a nearly equal number injured. The Sangareddy police, based on a complaint by a family member of one of the victims, on Monday (June 30, 2025) registered an FIR against the factory management in connection with the explosion under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 110 (attempting to commit culpable homicide), and 117 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of BNS. "The complainant's father and other employees of the Sigachi company already informed the Sigachi Company management several times regarding change of machinery as they are too old and every possibility of danger may occur and cause heavy loss to the property and men," the FIR said. But those fell on the deaf ears of the company management, and they continued using the old machinery, as a result of which an explosion occurred in the unit, the FIR further said citing the complainant. The complaint was lodged by Yashwanth Rajanala, whose father, Rajanala Venkat Jagan Moha,n was an employee of Sigachi for the past 20 years. Yashwanth further said his father had told the same to his family members several times. But no action from the company's side, he alleged. On the fateful day at 11 am, Yashwanth's uncle (his father's younger brother, Ram Mohan Rao) called him and informed him that around 9.30 a.m., a fire accident had occurred at the Sigachi company. As a result, some workers died on the spot while others sustained severe burns. He immediately rushed to the Government Area Hospital in Patancheru and identified his father's body lying there. A senior official of the Telangana Fire Department earlier said the company has no NoC from the department. There were no adequate safety measures, including fire alarms and heat sensors in the plant. "There is a process for obtaining a No Objection Certificate. It is an online process. Once any firm applies online, a committee will decide on it. This unit has not applied for any NOC and hence we have not issued," the official said.
