White Sox sign RHP Adrian Houser, to start vs. Mariners on Tuesday
May 20 - Veteran free agent right-hander Adrian Houser is signing with the Chicago White Sox on a one-year, $1.35 million contract and will start Tuesday's game against the visiting Seattle Mariners in his season debut. In a corresponding move, the White Sox designated right-hander Yoendrys Gomez for assignment. The White Sox had scheduled right-hander Bryse Wilson (0-2, 6.00 ERA) to start. Wilson, who made 10 of his first 11 appearances as a reliever this year, is 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA in three May starts. He allowed seven runs and 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings in a road loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday. Houser, 32, has a career record of 32-39 with one save, a 4.21 ERA, 244 walks and 484 strikeouts in 608 2/3 innings over 152 regular-season games (104 starts) for the Milwaukee Brewers (2015, 2018-23) and New York Mets (2024). The Texas Rangers organization released Houser last Thursday after he went 2-2 with a 5.03 ERA in 39 1/3 innings over nine games (eight starts) for Triple-A Round Rock this season. Gomez, 25, was 0-0 with an 8.10 ERA, five hits allowed, two walks and two strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings over three relief appearances this season. Over his three-year career, Gomez is 1-1 with one save, a 5.23 ERA, 20 walks and 27 strikeouts in 31 innings over 18 relief appearances for the New York Yankees (2023-25), Los Angeles Dodgers (2025) and White Sox. The Dodgers selected him from the Yankees via waivers on April 25, and the White Sox did the same from the Dodgers on May 10. --Field Level Media

White Sox add RHP Yoendrys Gomez to active roster
May 11 - The Chicago White Sox placed right-hander Yoendrys Gomez on the active roster Sunday, one day after he was claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers. In a corresponding move, right-hander Caleb Freeman was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte. Gomez, 25, is joining his third organization this season after the Dodgers claimed him off waivers from the New York Yankees last month. He is a combined 1-1 with a 6.28 ERA and a three-inning save in nine relief appearances this season. In 15 major league appearances over parts of three seasons, Gomez is 1-1 with a 4.88 ERA. Freeman, 27, has a 7.71 ERA in four relief outings after making his MLB debut Monday. --Field Level Media

White Sox claim RHP Yoendrys Gomez from Dodgers
May 10 - The Chicago White Sox claimed right-hander Yoendrys Gomez off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday and released outfielder Greg Jones. Gomez, 25, is joining his third organization this season after the Dodgers claimed him off waivers from the New York Yankees last month. He is a combined 1-1 with a 6.28 ERA and a three-out save in nine relief appearances this season. In 15 major league appearances over parts of three seasons, Gomez is 1-1 with a 4.88 ERA. Jones, 27, was 0-for-3 in three games for the White Sox this season. He is 1-for-8 in nine career games after a short stint with the Colorado Rockies last season. In another move, the White Sox selected the contract of first baseman Tim Elko from Triple-A Charlotte, while infielder Nick Maton was designated for assignment. Elko, 26, is poised to make his major league debut after batting .348 with 10 home runs and 23 RBIs in 31 games at Charlotte. He was in the starting lineup and batting eighth for Saturday's home game against the Miami Marlins. Maton, 28, was batting .167 with two home runs and four RBIs in 25 games with the White Sox.
