Penukonda: Practicing yoga daily leads to a healthy life and enhances both physical and mental resilience, said Minister for BC, EWS Welfare, Handlooms and Textiles, S Savita. Speaking at a yoga session held on Monday at the KIA Motors premises in Penukonda as part of the Yogandra–2025 celebrations, she emphasized the value of yoga in improving concentration and making sound decisions. She described yoga as a priceless gift from ancient India and encouraged everyone to practice it for at least an hour every day. She appreciated KIA management for organizing the session, recognizing the importance of wellness in the workplace. She praised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who, at 75 years of age, practices yoga daily and continues to tirelessly work for the state's development with youth-like energy and visionary leadership. aShe urged everyone to take the Naidu as a role model and incorporate yoga into their daily routine for better health and focus. As part of Yogandra 2025, a statewide yoga month began on May 21, with sessions being conducted in every constituency and mandal headquarters. She called on the public to attend the Visakhapatnam event in large numbers. District Collector TS Chetan, Joint Collector Abhishek Kumar, KIA CEO Kup Donglee, Legal Advisor Anglima, company representatives, public officials, local leaders, women, students, and citizens participated in the yoga session.

The Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) is implementing the New Education Policy-2020 by transitioning from a single-major programme, to a dual-major model. According to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Allam Srinivasa Rao, the move will equip students to gain skills in two distinct domains, significantly enhancing their career prospects. Prof. Rao chaired a coordination meeting on Monday at the university campus. The meeting was attended by principals of affiliated and constituent colleges offering Degree, PG, MBA, MCA, Physical Education, Education, and Law programmes. The V-C highlighted the effective implementation of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) system, a digital platform that allows students to store credits obtained from various educational institutions across the country. He said: 'The system increases academic flexibility and supports skill development.' As part of the Yogandra 2025 initiative, the V-C suggested speeding up student enrolment by registering their details and maintaining data in digital format. He stressed the need for efficient coordination with affiliated colleges to streamline the process. VSU Registrar Dr. K. Sunitha said: 'Affiliated colleges will play a key role in implementing the restructured academic programs introduced by the university. Every institution must actively participate in the successful execution of these changes. It is essential to have a thorough understanding and effective implementation of the dual major programmes, the ABC system, and Yogandra 2025's enrolment procedures.'

Nellore: District Collector O. Anand has directed the officials to ensure creating awareness among the public about yoga. Addressing in district level officials meeting here on Monday, collector said that as per the directions of state and central governments it will be mandatory to involve the people in the ongoing month long Yoga Programmes on the occasion of International Yoga Day schedule for 21st June. The collector directed the all departments officials to visit every house and tell public to practice yoga if they want to save themselves from health hazards. Collector asked the officials to design an action plan for the success of the event at mandal level. The Collector suggested them to convince at least 1/3 of population against 25 lakh people in the district to practice Yoga every. 'The main concept of the government in conducting month long Yogandra 2025 is to create awareness among the public over uses of practicing the exercise as they stay 'Stress Free and rescuing themselves from serious health hazards.' he said. Collector disclosed that as part of this initiative, tourism department proposed to organize Yoga Programmes on May 28 at Swarnala Cheruvu (Nellore Tank) in the city, June 6 at Mypadu Beach of Indukurupet mandal, 10th June at the temple in Udayagiri town, June 16 at Penchalakona, from 7am to 8 am every day. He ordered the officials to take steps for involving local public representatives, and representatives of voluntary organizations for the success of month-long event.
