Diddy drama: Young Thug brands Kid Cudi a 'rat' after testifying in court
American rapper Young Thug. Image: X/@Naija_PR The hip-hop streets are talking again. Known more for his moody soundscapes than street politics, Kid Cudi recently took the stand in Sean 'Diddy' Combs' high-profile sex trafficking and racketeering trial, and it didn't go unnoticed. While Cudi's court appearance had nothing to do with any wrongdoing on his part, that didn't stop fellow rapper Young Thug from branding him a 'rat'. "The Day 'n' Nite" rapper appeared in court and detailed a 2012 incident involving a Molotov cocktail being thrown at his Porsche, an event that supports allegations made by Diddy's former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. Thug, who is currently embroiled in his own legal saga, took to X and wrote, 'Dam Cudi a rat lol,' before quickly deleting the post (I wonder why). But as we know, screenshots live forever. The now-deleted tweet was enough to stir up fans. Why is Young Thug tweeting in support of Diddy — Wost🐰 (@mosthiphop) May 23, 2025 Backing Thug was DJ Akademiks, a media personality known for his blunt commentary on hip-hop culture and artists' personal lives. He has built his platform by reporting on rapper feuds, court cases and behind-the-scenes drama. DJ Akademiks believes that Thug's tweet calling Cudi a 'rat' comes from unresolved feelings of betrayal, especially after what happened with Gunna in the YSL RICO case. Akademiks reacts to Young Thug calling Kid Cudi a rat — Akademiks TV (@AkademiksTV) May 25, 2025 Gunna, who had also been arrested as part of the same case, shocked fans when he took a plea deal in late 2022. As part of that deal, Gunna publicly admitted that YSL is a gang, not just a record label. He also stated that the weapons and drugs found during the group's arrest were not his. The moment that courtroom video went viral, social media turned on Gunna, with many calling him a 'snitch' for essentially confirming prosecutors' narrative about YSL. Thug, who remains behind bars fighting the charges, has since distanced himself from Gunna, and many believe he feels completely betrayed. So when Cudi recently testified in the Diddy case, a completely unrelated trial and backed up claims made by Ventura, it triggered something in Thug. Since that courtroom fallout, Thug has severed ties with Gunna and now appears to be applying the same code to Cudi. However, Cudi has never claimed to be part of street culture. Fans were quick to point out that he doesn't live by the same unspoken 'no snitching' rules that often govern artists from a different hip-hop lane. Now, let's break that down for anyone who missed the courtroom drama: The YSL case is a high-profile legal battle where prosecutors charged Young Thug and several members of his Young Slime Life crew under RICO laws (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act). These laws are usually used to target organised crime (think mafia or gang networks) and in this case, authorities claimed that YSL was not just a music label but an actual street gang involved in criminal activity, including drugs, weapons, and violence.

Young Thug Labels Kid Cudi a ‘Rat' for Testifying in Diddy Trial
Young Thug called out Kid Cudi for testifying in Sean 'Diddy' Combs' sex trafficking and racketeering trial on Thursday (May 22), and labeled the Cleveland rapper a rat on X. Thugger quickly deleted the polarizing message, but the toothpaste was already out of the tube. 'Dam cudi a rat lol,' Thug wrote before taking the post down minutes later. More from Billboard Diddy Trial Recap: Kid Cudi Testifies About Home Break-In and Porsche Molotov Cocktail Explosion Roger Nichols, Grammy-Nominated Co-Writer of 'We've Only Just Begun,' Dies at 84 Julión Álvarez Postpones Stadium Show in Texas After Not Being Able to Enter the U.S. Billboard has reached out to Cudi's rep for comment. Thugger had been locked up for more than two years while fighting for his freedom as part of the YSL RICO trial. He eventually reached a plea deal on Oct. 31, 2024. However, there is a connection between the YSL trial and Diddy's, as Thug's attorney Brian Steel is part of the Bad Boy mogul's legal defense team. Steel cross-examined Cudi while he was on the stand. Cudder briefly dated Cassie in the early 2010s, but the romance was ultimately short-lived. As part of his testimony, Kid Cudi recalled Diddy allegedly setting his Porsche on fire in his driveway with a Molotov cocktail. Cudi also tied a break-in of his home around the time of his relationship with Cassie to Diddy. Cassie named Cudi in her 2023 sexual abuse lawsuit, which lit the fuse against Diddy, claiming Combs attempted to blow up the 'Day 'n' Nite' rapper's car. While on the stand on Day 3 of the trial, she explained why she cut the relationship with Cudi short. 'Too much danger, too much uncertainty of what could happen if we continued to see each other,' Cassie said. As for Cudi, he took to social media to reflect on the 'stressful situation' after taking the stand, and the Ohio native said he's 'glad it's behind' him. 'I've been seeing all the love and support and I just want to say thank you so much, man,' Cudi said in a video he shared to various platforms. 'People been hitting me up the past week just checking in and even today, it really means a lot to me, man. You guys are the best. I love y'all. This is a stressful situation. I'm glad it's behind me.' On Thugger's side, he's been teasing his UY SCUTI album, which he's hinted at a June arrival date for. He reunited with Future for his 'Money on Money' single in April. Sp5der Clothing The Fusion of Streetwear, Celebrity Influence and Futuristic Fashion
In today's rapidly growing fashion landscape, streetwear dominates one of the most impressive style movements worldwide. With roots in hip-hop, skateboarding, and counters, it has developed into an Arab-dollar industry run by uniqueness, identity, and cultural relevance. Between the wave of new streetwear brands creating a major impact, the SP5der Clothing fabric has emerged as a bold, futuristic, and style-defying label that holds the energy of a new generation. Celebrity backing, outlandish visuals, and unique design—Sp5der exceeds only one trend: this is a cultural statement. Sp5der clothing was launched by rapper Young Thug, one of the most impressive and stylish figures in hip-hop. Known for its style-defined music and avant-garde fashion sense, the young thug took his creative expression one step forward by setting up his creative expression as a reflection of his personal aesthetics (styled with 5 instead of 'I'). Established around 2021, Sp5der did not quietly enter the world of streetwear – it came with a bang, supported by a powerful combination of publicity, celebrity endorsement, and bold design options. It quickly received traction between the Young Thug fanbase and the broad young culture, especially in the U.S., where streetwear and hip-hop are deeply connected. Like Supreme and other streetwear giants, Sp5der has capitalized on limited releases to create demand and make its uniqueness. Most Corteiz of its collections are dropped in small amounts, often sold within minutes. This strategy fuels the resale markets, where the pieces of SP5der are often listed at their retail price at 2- 3X. This scatter model, combined with the brand's celebrity clout, generates constant social media discussion. Instagram and TikTok are filled with unboxing, styling videos, and streetwear haul clips, which have Sp5der gear. The brand thrives in this digital environment where promotion is equal to cultural capital. Sp5der fabrics firmly resonate with Generation Z and late Millennials, who are disillusioned with traditional fashion norms. It represents freedom of identity, self-realization, and rebellion against Polish, elite-powered fashion systems. In a way, Sp5der is part of a comprehensive fashion democratization movement. While still the price at the premium streetwear level, it is not a target for the haute couture status. Instead, it is raw, loud, and intentionally around the edges – more about culture than square. By combining punk energy, hip-hop swagger and futuristic visuals, Sp5der talks to a generation that is more interested in expression than tradition. With its rise, Sp5der has also faced criticism, in fact, for its high prices, design deficiency in some designs, and heavy dependence on publicity. Some critics argue that Corteiz's beauty is very chaotic, or it causes more capitalization on celebrity than originality. Additionally, the legal troubles of Young Thug in recent years (including their high-profile RICO case) have put a shadow on the brand. However, for many fans, these disputes only combine the mystery and 'outsider' appeal of the brand. Although Sp5der lies in Atlanta's hip-hop scene, its effect is spreading internationally. Thanks to the power of social media and celebrity culture, fans in Europe, Asia, and America have embraced the brand. International streetwear communities, especially in Japan and South Korea, have shown growing interest in the pieces of SP5per; they are considered part of the broad 'hypebeast' movement. With streetwear continuously developing, the future of Sp5der depends on how this growing consumer increases expectations. Will it maintain its underground experience? Will it develop in high-fashion/street hybrids such as Off-White or Balenciaga? Or will it be a Creed classic? If a strong cultural impact of the young thugs continues – and if the brand may develop without diluting its beauty – it is likely that the Sp5der will remain a major player in the streetwear world for the coming years. Sp5der fabric is more than just another propaganda brand – this is a reflection of time. It mixes music, rebellion, digital culture, and bold fashion into the same identity. With its spiderweb motifs, loud colors, and celebrity power, it TIME BUSINESS NEWS

Wunna Fresh New Start: Gunna Removes Young Thug's YSL Tattoo
Source: Prince Williams / Getty Gunna ain't pushing P anymore with his former homie Young Thug, as he removed his YSL tattoo, once a symbol of their brotherhood. The rapper recently posted a gym mirror selfie, and fans quickly picked up on the fact that the ink paying tribute to Young Stoner Life Records had been covered with a new design. This change has only added fuel to ongoing speculation that things between the two may not be the same. Their bond has been in question since 2022, when both artists were swept up in a major RICO indictment involving YSL affiliates. Gunna took a plea deal and was released later that year, sparking backlash and accusations that he betrayed Young Thug. Despite repeatedly denying any form of cooperation with law enforcement, the 'snitch' rumors have stuck, casting a shadow over his reputation and industry relationships. In a GQ interview from April, Young Thug was asked directly about where things stand between him and Gunna. His response—'I don't know'—left fans without any real clarity. The vague reply, paired with Gunna's quiet cover-up of the YSL tattoo, has only deepened suspicions of a fallout. With Thug now free after spending more than two years behind bars, some hoped for signs of a reunion or at least mutual respect. As it stands, the silence and subtle gestures seem to speak louder than any statement, suggesting a real distance between the former collaborators.
