BLACKPINK at Wembley Stadium review: The world's biggest girl group are at the top of their game
Olivia Rodrigo owning Glastonbury, Sabrina Carpenter playing two nights at Hyde Park, Charli XCX's Brat victory lap, 2025 has undoubtedly been the summer of the pop girlies. It's only right then that BLACKPINK, the biggest girl band in the world, get in on the action. The K-pop titans' Deadline world tour took over London's Wembley Stadium for the first of two shows on Friday night, following an 18-month hiatus where the four-piece worked on solo projects. Each member was given plenty of space to flex during the two-hour show. Jisoo performed her dreamy Your Love accompanied by confetti and chairography, Jennie was every bit the swaggering rockstar for her snarling viral hit Like Jennie. Lisa couldn't have been more different to her softly-spoken The White Lotus character during a trio of brilliant, high-energy tracks from debut solo album Alter Ego while Rosé went full '00s for the snotty pop-punk inspired Toxic and a surprisingly chaotic APT.. All four are clearly stars and looked very comfortable on their own in the spotlight but together, they're on a whole other level. Previous BLACKPINK tours have been incredibly choreographed events, performed with an eventual concert movie in mind. Deadline was a far more relaxed affair – well, as relaxed as a six-act stadium show with a curved runway, fireworks and an entire dance academy can really be. There was still plenty of polish and no one could accuse the group of phoning it in, but they spent as much energy interacting with the crowd and trying to make each other laugh as they did recreating their slick music videos. The whole thrilling gig was wonderfully playful. At one-point FKA Twigs joined Rosé backstage for a scone and a shot. Why? Why not. A live band gave earlier, more polite tracks WHISTLE and BOOMBAYAH an added bite while the obnoxiously OTT pop of Pink Venom and Pretty Savage were clearly written to make a stadium full of people dance. Their music has always been ambitious, taking the best bits of countless different genres to create perfectly-formed pop spectaculars, but there was a joyous, infectious energy that came with performing it in one of the biggest venues around. As the first K-pop group to headline Wembley Stadium, BLACKPINK made sure to have the most fun possible, but they also took every opportunity to soak up the 'surreal' and 'insane' achievement. 'It really is such an honour,' said Jennie, thanking the crowd for supporting the band over the past nine years. There have been rumours circulating online that BLACKPINK will go on a more permanent hiatus after this tour, but at no point during the show did it feel like things were winding down. 'I wanted to do a song that felt like a goodbye, just for the meantime,' Rosé said before the tender Dance All Night, deliberately hinting at a return, while the mini-movies that were played during the gig were a celebration of the girls coming back together. Despite their historic legacy it was the recently released Jump, an urgent mash-up of Spice Girls camaraderie and the energy of a sweaty rave, that got the biggest reaction of the night. It's such a banger, it was played twice. What more could you possibly want?

Blackpink's Jisoo shot new music video in Singapore's Rainforest Wild Asia
South Korean singer and actress Jisoo from K-pop girl group Blackpink shot the music video for her new song Your Love in Singapore's Rainforest Wild Asia, in partnership with Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Mandai Wildlife Reserve. The two-minute 54-second clip, released on Aug 12, sees her singing amid a lush tropical rainforest, as well as the man-made cave system in Singapore's fifth wildlife park. She is also filmed in Cavern Restaurant, a cavernous 150-seat air-conditioned restaurant and one of the eateries within the attraction. Also making an appearance are langurs, one of the animal species that inhabit Rainforest Wild Asia. Your Love is a single from Jisoo's debut solo mini-album Amortage, which was released on Feb 14. In March, the 30-year-old was in Singapore for an appearance at Amortage at Far East Malls, a pop-up concept store celebrating the album release. Jisoo will be back in town with her fellow Blackpink bandmates to perform at the National Stadium on Nov 29 and 30 as part of their highly anticipated Deadline world tour. The music video is also a collaboration with local dance talent agency Jam Republic, which oversaw the overall operations and logistics during filming, and Jisoo's agency Blisoo. Ms Serene Tan, STB's director, North Asia, says in a statement: "Together with Mandai Wildlife Group, one of our key partners in this collaboration, we aim to showcase Singapore's unique landscapes and attractions, including its lush green spaces and immersive wildlife experiences. "Jisoo's emotional performance brought Singapore's natural beauty to life, and we hope that leveraging her global influence, we can introduce K-pop fans and visitors around the world to the unforgettable experiences that only Singapore can offer, and inspire them to experience them for themselves." Rainforest Wild Asia will be hosting the Your Love Meets The Wild campaign, an immersive rainforest adventure that includes special trails that recreate scenes from the music video and visits to stone chambers inspired by real caves. The campaign will run from Aug 13 to Oct 5. Jisoo is the latest pop star to film a music video in Singapore in partnership with STB this year. In May, K-pop boy band BTS member Jin released the shot-in-Singapore music video for his single Don't Say You Love Me that featured scenes filmed in local spots such as National Gallery Singapore, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Flyer and Goldhill Plaza. British band Coldplay's Man In The Moon MV, released in February, features the quartet performing on a custom-made floating stage in Marina Bay. Besides prominent places such as Jewel Changi Airport and S.E.A. Aquarium, it also features heartland spots, such as an HDB estate in MacPherson.

This week, Jisoo decided to take a little detour from the stage, straight into the jungle as she released a new music video. On August 12, the K-pop icon dropped a much-awaited, dreamy video for her song Your Love on YouTube and across social media. In just a few minutes, she managed to melt hearts with this tender, jungle-themed video. Blackpink's Jisoo The reactions were, as always, rather positive. 'The queen of kpop coming to drop another iconic video 🔥🔥 we love to see it,' read one comment on X. One more BLINK comment claimed, 'Your love by Jisoo — visuals are EVERYTHING, this is cinema!' Other fans seemed to share the sentiment. '10/10 from my side,' said one, while another claimed, 'Oh she's a bop.' What is Blackpink up to? While fans are hitting replay on the teaser, there's even more Blackpink news stirring the pot. According to Soompi, citing an industry insider, all four members — Lisa, Jennie, Rose, and Jisoo — are preparing to release a mini album later this year.
