Abu Dhabi Judicial Department issues decisions on registration of lawyers, law firm representatives

The move reflects the Department's commitment toward supporting and empowering national talent to engage in the legal profession with high levels of professionalism and committee also reviewed requests to renew the registration of 10 lawyers whose registrations had expired for more than two months, and decided to proceed with the renewal process after the applicants met all the approved relation to professional compliance, the committee examined eight complaints filed against lawyers, and issued appropriate decisions in accordance with the established procedures, ensuring justice, professional integrity, and the protection of the rights of all parties involved. The decisions also included the renewal of registration for three law firm representatives after verifying their fulfilment of the necessary requirements, in recognition of their role in executing legal procedures and supporting lawyers in performing their duties.

ADJD approves new batch of technical experts and dispute resolution mediators
The Committee on the Affairs of Experts, Conciliators, and Mediators at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has approved a new batch of technical experts and dispute resolution mediators. This comes as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency and quality of specialized expert services and to support mediation processes as effective alternatives for dispute resolution—aligned with Abu Dhabi's vision for judicial excellence. During its regular meeting, chaired by His Excellency Counselor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Judicial Department, the committee approved the registration and re-registration of several experts in the official registry of practitioners after fulfilling the established requirements. This aims to support judicial entities with specialized expertise that contributes to the quality of judgments and the precision of rulings in cases requiring technical opinion. The committee also approved proceeding with the registration for 21 mediators, following a review of their applications, conditional on completing the necessary requirements—most notably, passing the accredited training program at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy. This ensures that mediators are fully prepared to perform their duties efficiently and impartially in resolving civil and commercial disputes through dialogue and negotiation, reaching amicable settlements outside of court. In the same context, the committee reviewed 13 applications submitted by authorized entities seeking inclusion in the mediators' registry and approved proceeding with registration in accordance with the set regulations. On the matter of professional oversight, the committee reviewed one complaint concerning an expert and took appropriate action in line with applicable regulatory frameworks, reaffirming its commitment to accountability and the highest standards of professional performance.

Abu Dhabi Judicial Department lab discovers and registers new global narcotic substance
12 May 2025 13:00 ABU DHABI (WAM) The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) chemistry laboratory at the Centre for Forensic and Electronic Sciences has discovered a new, previously internationally undocumented narcotic substance and officially registered it in the global database. This significant scientific milestone reflects the UAE's leading position in forensic science, and its proactive role in detecting synthetic narcotics. Using the latest scientific laboratory techniques, the chemical laboratory successfully identified a narcotic substance belonging to the "synthetic cannabinoid" category, named (ADB-4C-MDMB-BINACA). The substance was registered in the international database in the Netherlands under the name of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department laboratory, making it the first entity worldwide to document this substance. Counselor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of ADJD, emphasised that this discovery builds on previous achievements by the chemistry laboratory, which had earlier identified another narcotic substance belonging to the same class of synthetic cannabis. He commended the laboratory team for their advanced preparedness, high efficiency and technical expertise, underscoring their pioneering contributions to public safety and scientific progress. The undersecretary of ADJD further explained that the discovery would contribute to international efforts to combat drug abuse and enhance community safety. He also pointed to the fruitful cooperation with the Forensic Science Research and Education Institute (CFSRE) in the United States, one of the world's centres specialising in identifying synthetic drugs, to verify the substance's properties before issuing the relevant scientific paper and publishing it on the Centre's official website. Counsellor Al Abri concluded by affirming that this scientific documentation is evidence of the accuracy of the analyses and the quality of the research work in the chemistry lab, and strengthens its position as a reference scientific centre at the regional and global levels in the field of laboratory testing and forensic analysis, not only in terms of technology, but also as an effective contributor to combat drugs.

ADJD completes 4,000 English notary transactions in one year
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) completed 4,000 notary transactions in English during the first year of its English Notary Services Bureau, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East, provides notarization and authentication services for contracts, documents, and declarations in English without requiring translation into Arabic. His Excellency Counselor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said: The English Notary Services Bureau, plays a pivotal role in developing the judicial system by offering innovative solutions and simplified procedures. This initiative aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of judicial and notary services, strengthening Abu Dhabi's global competitiveness. He added that completing such a large number of transactions highlights success in meeting the needs of individuals and foreign companies, it also reflects the Judicial Department's commitment to providing high-quality services that facilitate access to justice and support the business and investment environment in Abu Dhabi. The English Notary Services Bureau, which began operations in late 2023, enables notary transactions to be completed remotely through electronic services. It serves various categories and foreign companies while addressing the linguistic needs of non-Arabic speakers, it offers notarization and authentication of corporate contracts, board resolutions, meeting minutes, powers of attorney, and declarations in English. Al Abri emphasized the department's commitment to continuously updating judicial services and simplifying procedures in line with Abu Dhabi's vision of positioning itself as a global center for innovation and excellence, the initiative ensures a comprehensive and pioneering service system that sustains business growth, and the ability to adapt to changes in light of future foresight.
