'North Wales homes worst seaside town in UK but I don't think it's all bad'
A Liverpudlian man ventured to what has been branded the "worst seaside town in the UK" and was surprised to find it nestled in Wales. After hearing about its unflattering reputation as one of the country's least appealing seaside destinations, Zac Jones decided to take a trip to see for himself. Zac documented his journey on TikTok, curious to determine whether the negative label was justified, and he soon uncovered some truths. The Telegraph had previously described the town as "one of the worst" for beachgoers, prompting Zac to investigate personally. Upon arrival, Zac's initial impressions were more positive than expected, as he surveyed the local amenities. His exploration of Rhyl 's offerings revealed a quiet atmosphere, but he didn't think it was all bad. Zac said: "I mean, there's not an awful lot of people here. Let's see some of the prices in The Piazza. The big brunch will be £6.95. Cod, chips, peas, bread and butter - £8.80, and we have a Wetherspoon. "Honestly, I think it's quite nice here to be honest, maybe it's just because the sun's out. I mean at least there's a nice building." Inquiring with a local about Rhyl's highlights, the response was simple, he thought the weather was the best part. It seems that, despite its reputation, Rhyl's climate is something to be appreciated. However, Zac's initial impressions were soon marred by an unpleasant incident, as he remarked: "I take it back - everything nice I said about this place." His stroll through the streets of Rhyl was spoiled when he stepped in dog muck, which understandably dampened his spirits. Zac went on to say: "Well I think Rhyl, for me, gets an 'it's ok'. The best thing about Rhyl, in my opinion, is the beach and the coast. It's beautiful." Since Zac shared his video, which has now been viewed over 1,000 times, locals and visitors alike have been quick to weigh in with their views on Rhyl. Opinions varied widely among commenters. One person jested: "Best thing about Rhyl is the way out." Echoing a sense of nostalgia, another person commented: "Such a shame. Used to be so good." Reflecting on childhood memories, a third individual responded: "Spent many holidays there as a child, as it was all we could afford. It's not always about the location - it's about making memories as best you can." Others offered a different perspective, with one saying: "That's harsh. Although the town centre isn't up to much, there is plenty going on further down the prom at Kite Surf Cafe and the other end - The Bike Hub and Harbour Hwb. "Marine Lake is brilliant for crabbing and walks, runs and sunsets. The people of Rhyl are some of the kindest most down to earth people."

'I visited worst seaside town in UK and I can't believe it's in Wales'
'I visited worst seaside town in UK and I can't believe it's in Wales' Zac Jones recently visited what he said has been described as the "worst seaside town in the UK", and you'll find it in Wales. After visiting, he made a few vital observations The seaside town has been dubbed one of the UK's worst (stock image) (Image: Getty Images) A man visited what he said has been dubbed as the "worst seaside town in the UK", and he couldn't believe it's located in Wales. Zac Jones, from Liverpool, recently travelled to the area to see what it was like after discovering it had been labelled as one of the worst seaside spots in the country. He shared a video of his experience on TikTok, as he wanted to see if the rating was a bit "harsh", and he quickly made a few discoveries. In a previous article, the Telegraph listed the town as "one of the worst" to visit if you like relaxing by the beach, and he wanted to see if he agreed. Zac admitted his first impression wasn't actually that bad, as he looked at what shops and restaurants were around. He then went onto explore the delights Rhyl has to offer a little more. In the clip exploring Rhyl, Zac said: "I mean, there's not an awful lot of people here. Let's see some of the prices in The Piazza. The big brunch will be £6.95. Cod, chips, peas, bread and butter - £8.80, and we have a Wetherspoon. "Honestly, I think it's quite nice here to be honest, maybe it's just because the sun's out. I mean at least there's a nice building." When he asked a passerby what the best part about Rhyl is, he replied: "The weather." Maybe that's one thing people are keen to celebrate. Content cannot be displayed without consent However, not long after this, disaster struck, and Zac added: "I take it back - everything nice I said about this place." As he walked along the street, he stepped in dog muck, which seemed to hinder his experience a little. Zac continued: "Well I think Rhyl, for me, gets an 'it's ok'. The best thing about Rhyl, in my opinion, is the beach and the coast. It's beautiful." Since the video was shared, it's been viewed over 1,000 times, and people were quick to comment and share their thoughts about Rhyl. Some people had a lot to say. One quipped: "Best thing about Rhyl is the way out." Another added: "Such a shame. Used to be so good." A third replied: "Spent many holidays there as a child, as it was all we could afford. It's not always about the location - it's about making memories as best you can." Article continues below Some people had different ideas though, as a fourth commented: "That's harsh. Although the town centre isn't up to to much, there is plenty going on further down the prom at Kite Surf Cafe and the other end - The Bike Hub and Harbour Hwb. "Marine Lake is brilliant for crabbing and walks, runs and sunsets. The people of Rhyl are some of the kindest most down to earth people." Someone else also wrote: "I haven't been there since I was a kid. Is it the worst place in the UK? It looks nicer than Blackpool by a long shot, apart from the dog muck. That's unfortunate."

Zac Jones, Arthur Kaliyev don't receive qualifying offers from Rangers, become free agents July 1
Zac Jones and Arthur Kaliyev will become unrestricted free agents Tuesday and are available to sign with any NHL team after the New York Rangers decided not to extend a qualifying offer to either player by the 5 p.m. ET deadline Monday. Each was an RFA with arbitration rights; but clearly neither was in the Rangers plans moving forward. Minor league forwards Jake Leschyshyn and Lucas Edmonds also didn't receive qualifying offers from the Rangers. Advertisement Five players, including forward Will Cuylle and defenseman K'Andre Miller did receive qualifying offers from the Rangers. Minor league goalies Dylan Garand and Talyn Boyko received qualifying offers, as did forward Brendan Brisson, who was acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline in March when the Rangers dealt away veteran forward Reilly Smith. The decision to part ways with Jones is not a big surprise, considering how the 24-year-old defenseman voiced displeasure over his lack of playing time the past two seasons. A third-round pick (No. 68 overall) by the Rangers in the 2019 NHL Draft, Jones played 115 NHL games over the past five seasons, including a career-high 46 this past one. 'It's tough. It's really [expletive] tough,' Jones told reporters in January. 'I mean, I'm just generally a pretty easygoing, happy person. And no matter what is going on in my life, I'm gonna try and come to the rink with a smile on my face . . . But it [expletive] sucks. Like, there's nothing else I can say about it.' Three different coaches — David Quinn, Gerard Gallant and Peter Laviolette — each routinely bypassed Jones and chose other options when it came time to regular duty in the top six. It appeared that Jones was set to be a third-pair staple in 2024-25 after the Rangers didn't re-sign veteran Erik Gustafsson nor replace him in free agency last summer. Yet Jones eventually lost playing time to rookie Victor Mancini (since traded to the Vancouver Canucks) and later to Urho Vaakanainen, Calvin de Haan and Carson Soucy as the season progressed. Advertisement The rub continued to be that Jones was viewed as being too small (listed at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds) to adequately defend in his own end of the ice. The Rangers could've used his ability to quickly move the puck and smartly exit the zone, however, when they imploded as a group defensively in 2024-25. Jones had 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) and averaged 17:15 TOI this past season. He has 28 points (four goals, 24 assists) in his career, and likely will have many teams interested in him as a free agent. It's not known if the Rangers tried to trade Jones before the qualifying offer was due in order to get something in return. 'I thought there were some good parts of the year,' Jones stated at breakup day. 'When I had some consistent time, I thought I played well. I thought my defensive game was a lot better this year as opposed to years prior. I lost the offensive game a little bit, but that's something that this summer I'm really going to try and focus on and get back to.' Per Natural Stat Trick, Jones was on ice for 157 high-danger scoring chances against and just 118 for, and the Rangers expected goals 5v5 was 47.79 percent when he was on the ice. Advertisement Related: Intriguing prospects to watch at Rangers development camp, including Malcolm Spence Rangers part ways with Arthur Kaliyev, qualify five others including Will Cuylle, K'Andre Miller Aaron Doster-Imagn Images Kaliyev played 14 games with the Rangers this past season after they claimed his off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings in January. His season began with an extended stretch on long-term injured reserve when he sustained a fractured clavicle in Kings training camp. It ended with him on LTIR again with an upper-body injury sustained in a March 11 game against the Winnipeg Jets. The 24-year-old forward scored three goals and had four points with the Rangers, his favorite childhood team when he lived on Staten Island. Kaliyev proclaimed it 'a dream come true' when the Rangers claimed him. But it didn't seem Kaliyev was a fit next season with general manager Chris Drury looking to change the makeup of the roster this summer. Advertisement Drury is trying to sign Cuylle as soon as possible after the forward broke out with 20 goals and 45 points last season, and tied for third in the NHL with 301 hits. The concern is that another team could try to sign Cuylle to an offer sheet this summer. Since the Rangers qualified him, they can match any offer. But that could get expensive considering New York has approximately $13.14 million in salary-cap space this offseason, with holes to fill on the roster. The Rangers must decide what to do with Miller, who they reportedly have unsuccessfully tried to trade this offseason. Miller has arbitration rights, so the two sides could go that route on his next contract, especially since the Rangers aren't inclined to give the 25-year-old defenseman a long-term, big-money contract. Golden Glove hero Zac Jones bids farewell to Haverfordwest County
Departure comes after three and a half years of history-making moments for the Bluebirds HAVERFORDWEST goalkeeper Zac Jones has left the club after three and a half standout seasons, departing as both a fan favourite and one of the finest shot-stoppers ever to wear the Bluebirds jersey. The New Zealand international, 23, made history earlier this month when his penalty heroics and commanding presence helped secure Haverfordwest County's place in Europe. The club's dramatic shootout victory at Cardiff City Stadium against Penybont secured back-to-back UEFA Conference League qualifications—an unprecedented achievement in modern club history. Jones' performances throughout the JD Cymru Premier campaign earned him the league's prestigious Golden Glove award, recognising his consistency and excellence between the posts. His calm presence and sharp reflexes made him a cornerstone of the team during a period that many supporters have called the most exciting era in recent memory. Club officials have confirmed that Jones will now move on to a full-time opportunity, with multiple sources suggesting a transfer to The New Saints (TNS) is imminent—although neither club has officially confirmed the move. Fans and teammates alike have reacted with an outpouring of admiration and thanks. One supporter described Jones as 'the best keeper we've ever had,' while others acknowledged that he would be 'hard to replace' and hailed him as a 'Haverfordwest legend.' Jones, who joined the club in 2021, played a key role not only in league fixtures but also in European competition, where his performances raised eyebrows across the domestic and international football scene. His professionalism and leadership earned him the respect of coaches and fellow players, many of whom lifted him onto their shoulders in a symbolic farewell after the club's final match of the season. Haverfordwest County AFC have yet to name a replacement but thanked Jones for his service and commitment to the club and the local community. College golf: BYU tumbles down the team leaderboard at NCAA Golf Championships
Saturday was an entirely forgettable day for the BYU men's golf team at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa's North Course in Carlsbad, California. The Cougars entered day tied for eighth in the tournament, but by the time it was over, they were in serious danger of missing the 15-team cut for Monday's final round of stroke play. Advertisement BYU shot a team score of 12-over 300 on Saturday, with no golfer playing the course under par. The Cougars played their 'third' round on Thursday rather than having to play on Sunday, and shot a 1-over 289 that day. That score will be added to the official team leaderboard on Sunday while the other squads are playing, meaning that the Cougars are at +14 through three rounds. Junior Tyson Shelley played reasonably well for BYU on Saturday, making a pair of late birdies to get in at 1-over 73. Sophomore Peter Kim posted a 74, while Simon Kwon had a 76 and Cole Ponich a 77. Senior Zac Jones, in what could have possibly been his final college golf round, posted a non-counting 85. Advertisement The four Cougars who posted counting scores Saturday combined to shoot +12 on the back nine at the par-72 course. Arizona State is atop the team leaderboard at -13, followed by Oklahoma (-10), Auburn (-8) and Florida (-5). If BYU had fired a +1 like it did in its first two rounds of competition, the Cougars would be somewhere around 10th place. After Sunday, the top 15 teams will play a fourth round on Monday and the top eight teams will then advance to the match play portion of the tournament. Other Utahns in the field Former Utah resident Preston Summerhays, playing for Arizona State, carded a 2-under 70 on Saturday after shooting a 74 on Friday. Farmington product Braxton Watts, representing the non-qualifying University of Utah, was +1 in his first nine holes on Saturday after shooting a 78 on Friday.
