(AP Photo/Jeff Chiu) BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox brought in their first piece of the Rafael Devers' trade two weeks ago when they activated right-handed reliever Jordan Hicks from the 15-day injured list Monday. To make room for him, they optioned right-hander Zack Kelly to Triple-A Worcester. Kelly left Sunday's 5-3 loss to Toronto with right oblique tightness, but manager Alex Cora said before Monday's game against Cincinnati that he was fine. Hicks was on the IL with toe inflammation when he was picked up by the Red Sox and made two rehab appearances for Triple-A Worcester. Also Monday, Boston reinstated infielder Marcelo Mayer from the bereavement list and optioned Nick Sogard to Worcester. ___ AP MLB:

Red Sox's Alex Cora Calls Out Umpires Over Poor Call 'That Pitch Was a Ball'

Red Sox's Alex Cora Calls Out Umpires Over Poor Call 'That Pitch Was a Ball' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After the Boston Red Sox lost to the Tampa Bay Rays, there was a lot of frustration. It was an extra-inning thriller, but the Red Sox fell to the Rays after a terrible call had a huge impact on the game. Advertisement Late in the game, the Red Sox were in a precarious situation. With runners on first and second, and one out, in a two-run game, Romy Gonzalez watched a low pitch go by and began his trot to first for the walk. However, despite the pitch being below the strike zone on the TV broadcast, home plate umpire Junior Valentine called it a strike. Gonzalez was out, Cora was heated, and shortly thereafter was ejected. After the game, Cora called out the umpires for their poor strike-three call. "It was a ball," Cora said. "That pitch was a ball. It was down. He (Valentine) was really good, actually, during the day. But it was down." Advertisement A huge reason why that pitch was especially frustrating was in the prior half-inning, in the top of the 11th, Red Sox reliever Zack Kelly threw a pitch in the same area, and it was called a ball. Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora reacts after a strikeout during the eleventh inning of a game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Fluharty-Imagn Images The Rays benefitted both times from Valentine's decision, and while not the sole reason for the Red Sox's loss, it was a huge part in the outcome of the game. Despite the high energy from Roman Anthony's MLB debut, the Red Sox fell to the Rays in a tough loss following a bad call from the umpire. Cora's message wasn't too inflammatory. While he called out Valentine for the missed call, he also complimented him for his performance throughout the previous ten innings. Advertisement With how umpires aren't afraid of holding a grudge against players, teams, and managers, Cora's praise of Valentine isn't out of the ordinary. Instead of blasting Valentine, his complaint was a reasonable one, expressed clearly and respectfully. The Red Sox will not have to see Valentine behind the plate again in the series against the Rays, but will look to rebound from a crushing extra-inning loss to the Rays. Truck owners: Check if you're entitled to money in fuel injector pump settlement

People who purchased select models of Chevrolet and GMC trucks may be eligible for payments of up to $12,700 as part of a $35 million settlement involving defective fuel injector pumps. The settlement pertains to 2011-2016 Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierra diesel trucks equipped with 6.6L Duramax engines and Bosch 'CP4' high-pressure diesel fuel pumps. According to a press release from the JND Legal Administration, the lawsuit pertains to these pumps being 'unreasonably fragile and susceptible to catastrophic failure.' While General Motors denied the claims, the company has agreed to the $35 million settlement. Truck owners who purchased one of these models from a GM-authorized dealer in California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, New York, Pennsylvania or Texas between March 1, 2010 and Sept. 13, 2024 may be eligible for settlement benefits. A VIN lookup is available to check if your truck is included in the settlement. A cash payment is available to truck owners who paid out of pocket for repairs to the CP4 fuel pump and available for folks who no longer own their truck and did not pay for a fuel pump repair. Partial cash back for future CP4 fuel pump replacements and repairs are also available in some circumstances, according to the settlement website. People who paid out of pocket for a CP4 repair that was not covered by warranty could receive between $6,356 and $12,712, while folks who no longer own their trucks and did not pay for repairs could receive between $400 and $800, depending on how many valid claims are received. A partial repair reimbursement program also offers cash back on future CP4 repairs performed at a GM-authorized dealership on or after the date of final approval of the settlement. You can file a claim online, or submit a paper claim form to info@ or GM Fuel Pump Settlement, c/o JND Legal Administration, PO Box 91445, Seattle, WA 98111. The deadline to file a claim is six months after the court issues final approval; the hearing on the final settlement is scheduled for April 25. Claims require supporting documentation, such as proof of purchase and proof of repair.
