What a Model Actually Wears to Set With Saudi Model Zahra Hussain There's a certain image that comes to mind when you hear the word model - all glossy skin, dewy cheekbones, and aspirational chaos in the back of a cab. But Zahra Hussain, with her quick wit and even quicker shoe change, is here to gently unpick that illusion. The UK-based Saudi model never planned to become the face that launched campaigns. In fact, her path to fashion began not with dreams of runways but with a pragmatic twist of fate. As a university student studying Finance in the British countryside, her world revolved around textbooks and netball courts - until her height started turning heads. 'Everyone told me, you should model,' she says. 'So I walked into an agency on a whim, and they signed me straight away.' Just like that, the athlete became an accidental icon, trading sports gear for couture. If fashion demands conformity, Zahra sidesteps it with ease. 'My style is never one aesthetic,' she tells SceneStyled. One moment she's in ethereal pastels; the next, she's leaning into midnight-hued rebellion. Modelling - with its casting-call uniform of black-on-black - only deepened her creative fearlessness. 'Before, I'd thought, 'You can't wear that with that'. Now? Who actually cares?' Raised Muslim in rural England, deeply rooted in her Saudi heritage, Zahra carries her identity with both gentleness and clarity. 'There's a generational shift happening. My mum might not love some of the outfits I wear now, but Arab fashion isn't monolithic.' For her, style is a space for nuance. 'Respect your roots, but make room for yourself. There's beauty in balance.' Though she's graced international campaigns and editorials, Zahra's love for modelling is all about collaboration. 'Photographers, artists, other models - I love the energy of it. But I also wonder: why do we still centre European labels in our region's fashion story? There's magic in what we have - Saudi boutiques, in Egyptian craftsmanship, that we overlook.' And while her portfolio is full of high-shine fashion moments, she's also just really, really good at surviving a 6am call time without losing an earring - mostly by not wearing any. 'People don't realise - jewellery's a no-go. You'll always be asked to take it off, and you're bound to lose something eventually. It's just not worth it.' Family faces trial for Tamkeen fraud
A mother, her four sons and five others are facing trial over claims they took more than BD230,000 from Tamkeen and the Social Insurance Organisation by filing fake job contracts and pay slips. Six of the eleven accused appeared before the First High Criminal Court. The second defendant, who is in custody, was brought in. His brother, the first defendant, was not produced from prison. Three others failed to attend and will be summoned again. The remaining five, all out on bail, stood before the court and denied the charges. Defence lawyers, including Reem Al Mahhari and Zahra Hussain, asked for copies of the case file and time to reply. The court set 8 July to have the first defendant brought from prison and for fresh summons to be issued to the three absentees. The defence will also be expected to respond at the same hearing. Prosecutors said the first and second defendants submitted forged contracts through online portals run by Tamkeen and the Social Insurance Organisation. The forms claimed they had hired a number of staff to companies that did not exist, complete with invented roles and salaries. Those papers were then used to add and remove names from the insurance system and to make claims for one-off retirement payouts and pensions. The same details were later used in wage support requests to Tamkeen.

K-P mountain districts to get building codes
In view of the increasing environmental fragility, unregulated construction, and the critical need for climate-responsive and culturally appropriate development in the mountain regions of the province, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has directed constituting a Working Group to come up with guidelines to properly regulate construction-related matters in the mountainous areas of the province. The Chief Minister's Secretariat has issued a formal letter to Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development to constitute and lead a Working Group having membership of the concerned administrative secretaries, heads of the concerned entities and experts of the field. The letter suggests studying and recommending the adaptation and institutionalization of the 'Mountain Architecture Guidelines'- a research work authored by one Dr Zahra Hussain for implementation in K-P. The letter highlights that the above-mentioned pioneering work presents a contextually grounded, climate-responsive, and culturally sensitive architectural approach tailored to Pakistan's mountain regions, developed through extensive community engagement, academic research, and technical validation. It adds that the guidelines offer practical strategies on sustainable built form, passive solar design, cultural landscape preservation, material use, visitor management, and integration with local economies and ecosystems; and is considered a master guiding framework for harmonizing environmental stewardship, tourism infrastructure, and vernacular wisdom. The letter further suggests that the Working Group deliberate on how the proposed principles of the aforementioned research work could be customized, adapted, institutionalized, and legally adopted for the mountainous districts of K-P in accordance with provincial laws, planning frameworks, and operational realities. As per the Terms of Reference outlined in the letter, the Working Group shall review and customize the Mountain Architecture Guidelines in accordance with the climatic, cultural, and architectural realities of the province, formulate a legal and regulatory integration plan including necessary amendments to the relevant rules and regulations, identify and propose institutional mechanisms for approval, monitoring and enforcement through local authorities, recommend phased rollout strategies, and develop a liaison with national and international development partners for technical and financial support. The Working Group has been directed to submit its comprehensive recommendations and proposed implementation plan within sixty days to the Chief Minister. On Friday, the Chief Minister, as a major initiative aimed at promoting mountain agriculture in the province, had decided to formulate a dedicated policy for mountain agriculture. The Chief Minister's Secretariat has formally sent an official letter, along with a concept paper, to the Agriculture Department with direction to finalize the draft of the proposed 'K-P Mountain Agriculture Policy' based on the concept paper, and present the same to the competent forum for approval within 45 days.
