Kaizer Chiefs target an overrated, one-season wonder?
Kaizer Chiefs are scouring Africa for the best talent. However, their marquee target might have passed his sell-by date. Feisal Salum chipped in with an impressive 19 goals for Azam FC during the 2023-2024 campaign. That followed a glittering spell with Young Africans, where the talented playmaker collected consecutive trebles. A proven winner, Salum has 41 caps and four goals for his nation. The Zanzibar-born star hasn't replicated last season's form for Azam FC this time around. His last goal for the club came back in December 2024, and his side sits third in the Tanzanian Premier League, a massive 16 points adrift of leaders Young Africans. According to Goal, Feisal Salum is tempted by a move to link up with Nasreddine Nabi at Kaizer Chiefs. The 27-year-old Tanzanian midfield schemer worked alongside the Tunisian tactician at Young Africans. Although the Buccaneers are blessed with options at the sharp end with Tshegofatso Mabasa, Evidence Makgopa and Boitumelo Radiopane, they might be looking at a different style of number 9. Fiston Mayele is a popular name in the media, but will they go for a guy on the wrong side of 30, especially with a rumoured price tag of R12 million? What did Makgopa and Mabasa do to offend Hugo Broos? The Kaizer Chiefs Naturena Village in all its glory. Kaizer Chiefs news: Salum, Mayele, Duba
Kaizer Chiefs suffered a damning defeat at the hands of Gallants, stretching their gap from MTN 8 qualification. Nedbank Cup final berth is the silver lining in their season of suffering, a feeling AmaKhosi fans are getting accustomed to after last campaign's tenth-placed finish. Wandile Duba will be pivotal to ending their ten-year trophy drought when they face Orlando Pirates on May 10. The Soweto giants are experiencing further mishaps in the boardrooms as long-term priority targets Fiston Mayele and Feisal Salum appear set to reject Kaizer Chiefs' offers. The former, who guided Pyramids FC to the Champions League finals with an emphatic brace over Orlando Pirates, has been offered a two-year deal by his current team. And with the former they're in, simultaneously topping the Egyptian Premier League, you get the feeling he may stay. 'They [Pyramids FC] are doing everything to keep him. They know there is interest not just from Kaizer Chiefs but other clubs as well and they want to make sure they keep him,' said Soccer Laduma. ' So they have offered him a new two-year contract which increases his value as well.' Regarding Salum, Kaizer Chiefs now face competition against his former club Young Africans. 'Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum's potential return to Young Africans is intensifying amidst growing interest from several other clubs,' a source revealed. 'Salum has emerged as a prime target for Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who previously worked with the midfielder at Yanga. With clear indications pointing towards a move for Aziz Ki at the end of the season, Yanga are reportedly keen to welcome back Salum.' 'The midfielder has only a year left on his contract with Azam FC and is reportedly eager for a move. A return to Yanga would be an appealing prospect for the Zanzibar-born midfielder.' CONFIRMED: Kaizer Chiefs to release top talents
In a ruthless, sport-like move, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has reportedly made the decision to release several players from Naturena in preparation for the upcoming transfer window. 'Coach (Nasreddine) Nabi has already drawn up a list of players that he wants the team to release at the end of the season. He has already submitted the list together with the list of players he would like the club to sign,' said the source. Some of the players expected to be shown the door are Ranga Chivaviro, George Matlou and Mduduzi Mdantsane. The Soweto giants have some unexpected news regarding long-term target Feisal Salum, who appeared set on a Kaizer Chiefs move. However, the latest reports are emerging that the dynamic midfielder is eyeing a return to Young Africans, where he enjoyed two illustrious seasons under Nasreddine Nabi's command. TWIST: Nasreddine Nabi's top target to REJECT Kaizer Chiefs?
Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be ready to attack the next transfer window aggressively in the near future. This in an effort to boost coach Nasreddine Nabi's chances of succeeding after a tough first season at Chiefs. In the two windows that he has been at the club for, Nabi has been backed with 10 signings. So far, there have been very few success stories from that 10 with some already rumoured for an exit. Some of the earliest recruits in Bongani Sam and Fiacre Ntwari might be amongst the first exits. There is also an element of doubt on the future of Bradley Cross, who has also failed to convince so far. This could be stemming from the fact that very few of them were the coach's first choice targets. It was rumoured that the coach wanted to bring three familiar faces to Chiefs. Striker Fiston Mayele, who is now at FC Pyramid but he coached at Yanga. Stephane Aziz Ki, who he also coached at the Tanzanian giants to great aplomb. The other being another former Yanga player in Tanzanian international Feisal Salum. It is believed that Amakhosi have made several attempts already to sign the later. This publication reported that in January, Chiefs had a bid rejected by Azam FC for Salum. Last week it was suggested that he had given his green light to join Amakhosi. But now according to FARPost , the player could end up back at former club Yanga SC. 'Maverick Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum's potential return to Young Africans is intensifying amidst growing interest from several other clubs. Salum has emerged as a prime target for Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who previously worked with the midfielder at Yanga. With clear indications pointing towards a move for Aziz Ki at the end of the season, Yanga are reportedly keen to welcome back Salum. The midfielder has only a year left on his contract with Azam FC and is reportedly eager for a move. A return to Yanga would be an appealing prospect for the Zanzibar-born midfielder.' Wrote the publication. Chiefs fans, would it be a massive loss to miss out on Salum? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
