Palm Springs Woodworking Artist Aleksandra Zee Shares Her Favorite Spots in the High Desert
MÁS O MENOS in Joshua Tree tops Zee's list for coffee and natural wine. 'It's a beautiful space that reflects the soul of the desert,' she says. 'I'm here at least three times a week for the best live music and pop-ups.' She loves catching the collaboration pop-ups between Friendo Burger and I Fall to Pizzas there during golden hour. Another favorite is Kitchen in the Desert in 29 Palms, a Caribbean-inspired restaurant which she calls 'soulful and lush,' where 'the vibe is always on point.' Her go-to orders are the Brussels sprouts and the jerk chicken. La Copine in Yucca Valley is a must for what she describes as exquisite, upscale, California cuisine. The menus here are seasonal, but at the moment, she is enjoying their mushroom toast, shrimp roll, and gem wedge salad. Additionally, the Tiny Pony Tavern, with its karaoke nights and local crowd, is 'always a good time.' Kitchen in the Desert's jerk chicken, branzino, and brussels sprouts Fran Tamse/Kitchen in the Desert For a true desert night out, she heads to The Copper Room, a retro lounge overlooking the old airport in Yucca Valley. 'It's got a cool vibe, great cocktails, and a really fun menu.' Nearby, the Red Dog Saloon in Pioneertown serves Mexican food and feels like 'a family-friendly Western saloon with live music.' For visitors seeking art and community, Zee loves choreographer Ryan Heffington's DESERTRADE artist residency, which features rotating exhibitions in 29 Palms. If visiting in October, she recommends HWY 62 Art Tours. She's not only a fan but also a participating artist in the upcoming event, where over 200 artists open their studios to visitors and buyers. "It's one of my favorite things I've ever participated in, and I look forward to taking part for many years." Another must-visit is the Joshua Tree Outdoor Museum, an altar to the late, high-desert artist Noah Purifoy, famed for creating art out of found debris. How she connects with nature 'Living out here feels sacred, not just for my inner peace, but for my creative well-being,' says Zee. She loves the otherworldly Integratron in Landers, where she goes for sound baths. 'As a woodworker, what blows me away is that there's not one screw or nail holding it together, which plays into the acoustics.' She considers it one of the most magical things to do in the desert. When she's not in her studio, she's often hiking around the massive boulders in her neighborhood in Indian Cove, Joshua Tree National Park. 'Watching the sunrise or sunset as the boulders turn pink, you can't deny the force of nature here. There are endless trails and boulders to scale. I feel like every time we venture into the park, we find a new spot to explore.' The half-mile Indian Cove nature trail is a popular hiking trail, surrounded by ancient monzogranite rock towers that draw rock climbers. In spring and fall, you might spot desert tortoises, a variety of birds like the shy LeConte's thrasher, and colorful wildflower blooms scattered among Mojave yuccas and desert shrubs.

ZEEL's ad revenue declines by 16.7% in Q1FY26
Zee Entertainment Enterprises ( ZEEL ) has reported a 21.19 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase in its net profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2025, reaching INR 143.7 crore, up from INR 118.1 crore in the corresponding period last year. Despite the surge in profit, the media conglomerate experienced a significant decline across key revenue streams. Advertising revenue fell by 16.77 per cent to INR 758.5 crore for the quarter, compared to INR 911.3 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2024. The company attributed that domestic advertising revenue declined for the quarter due to extended sports calendar, and slowdown in FMCG spending . 'The domestic advertising environment continues to be a soft, healthy monsoon and festive pick-up augurs well for the near future,' said the company. Subscription revenue also saw a marginal dip of 0.56 per cent, settling at INR 981.7 crore against INR 987.2 crore in the prior year. Other sales and services witnessed a substantial decline of 63.53 per cent, decreasing to INR 84.6 crore from INR 232 crore. 'Increase in digital subscription revenue was offset by decline in linear subscription revenue due to fall in PayTV subscribers. And other sales and services declined due to lower theatrical and syndication revenue,' informed Zee. Consequently, total income for the quarter declined by 13.94 per cent, standing at INR 1,849.8 crore compared to INR 2,149.5 crore a year ago. The company's operational expenses declined by 17.5 per cent to INR 971.0 crore from INR 1,177 crore. Employee benefits expense also saw a modest decline of 2.52 per cent, amounting to INR 220.1 crore against INR 225.8 crore. Furthermore, advertisement and publicity expenses decreased by 4.97 per cent, from INR 289.6 crore to INR 275.2 crore.

Reha Sukheja Says She 'Trolled' Shah Rukh Khan For His Height, Intimidated Him
Model-turned-actor Reha Sukheja joins her first reality show, Chhoriyan Chali Gaon. She recalls her viral moment with Shah Rukh Khan. Model-turned-actor Reha Sukheja is stepping into her first-ever reality show, Chhoriyan Chali Gaon, a rural challenge-based format that throws urban contestants into the heart of village life. Reha, who famously went viral for towering over Shah Rukh Khan during a pageant event, now finds herself navigating mud floors, firewood kitchens and cow dung chores. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, she talks about joining the show and recalls the time she intimidated SRK! Reha, who stands at 6'1", spoke about standing out (literally) in the village setting. 'This is my first reality show. I'm going to a village. I'm also 6'1, so I really stand out. People are going to look up at me and they're probably going to be like, who's this freak? But I think they're going to be very intrigued as to who this tall girl is who's entered their village. And then slowly and slowly once they start to get to know me, they'll get to know me beyond my height as well." When asked why she chose a village-based show instead of something more glamorous like Khatron Ke Khiladi or Bigg Boss, Reha said, 'I love challenges. So when Zee approached me about this show, it was something that I had never heard of before – a city girl to go into the village life, and do village tasks, things that they do on a regular basis, like making food on the stove, or gardening, or with cow dung, and clean the houses and things like that with it. These are things that I only know in concept, and I've only seen on probably a web series or in a movie. I've had zero experience of a village life, because I've been a city girl through and through. I was born in Calcutta, then I moved to Hyderabad, then Pune, then Bombay. So I have zero experience of a village life. First I was really scared and daunted by the entire idea. But immediately my second thought was, hey, it's a challenge. Why not? Let's see, because I would love to see myself out of my comfort zone. I want to see how well I survive and how well I adapt." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Reha Sukheja (@rehasukheja) She's also aware of the emotional challenge of being away from family for the duration of the show. 'We've already been told that our phones are not going to be with us for two and a half months which is going to be the biggest challenge for me because I've been away from family for work for like 10-15 days max. It's never been longer than that. But I've always been like in touch with them on phone and I've always checked in on mom and dad and my brother. So to not have that line of communication at all is going to be extremely tough for me. But other than that, I don't think I'm someone who's going to walk out of the show or want to walk out of the show because if it's a competition, I'm extremely competitive. So I'd only go head on every day into the competition and try and win it." Her viral moment with Shah Rukh Khan still brings a spark to her eyes. Recalling the time she intimidated him with her height, Reha says, 'Shah Rukh Khan is like my favourite actor of all time. I've loved him since I was three years old. Just to meet him himself was like an honour and I was standing next to him that day in about five inches of heels. I am already so tall. So it was quite intimidating for him. But for me, I still felt like the little three-year-old, four-year-old who got to meet her idol. Shah Rukh Khan is very funny because he's someone who is so witty and he's so wonderful with the way he speaks that it was a very fun segment that we had during the pageant." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Reha Sukheja (@rehasukheja) She even had a cheeky exchange with the superstar. 'The thing is that for me, I feel like I'm extremely quick-witted. So, when it comes to any situation, there will be a smart remark or a sarcastic remark that you'll always hear from me. What I don't realise sometimes is who I'm with and who I'm standing around. Shah Rukh Khan in front of me is standing, he's asking me, 'give me tips on how to grow taller' and things like that. And I'm on national television standing over there, 19 years of age, and I say 'Sorry, but I think you've gone past the age where you can grow any taller.' I just said that because it came out as like a quick rebuttal. But he's an extremely good sport, he was very sweet about it." As for what's next, Reha is keeping her eyes on performance-based projects. 'I would love to do a reality show but I am more inclined towards the task-based reality shows. Something like Khatron Ke Khiladi where I can really challenge myself physically and mentally. That's something that I veer towards, mostly. Other than that, my focus is acting. So that's what I really want to do. I see myself getting into the skin of different characters and working with people who I've only admired till now." Speaking about the pressure to look a certain way in the industry, Reha was candid: 'It's very challenging because ours is an industry which is solely based on external beauty. You're taken for a job based on the way you look and that's the reality. So when it comes to skin care and working out and taking care of yourself, that is your basic homework as a model. You know, so when you sign up to be a model, you sign up to do all of this. And if this is something that you do not wish to do, then modelling may not be for you." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Reha Sukheja (@rehasukheja) On whether she's ever lost work because of her appearance, she admitted, 'I'm sure I have. I mean no one really tells you that but different projects require different faces, different kind of models. So for some projects I might be probably the best fitted girl for that particular space, but for another project I might not — and that's absolutely okay, it's fine." Reflecting on her 14-year-long journey in the industry, she concluded, 'It's been a journey because I started very young. So that point in time I didn't know how to go about it because I came from a very, very good space and to suddenly be criticised for the way I look was very, very tough. I think now, 14 years in the industry, I've learned to navigate. I'm very confident in who I am as a person and what I bring to the table." view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Indian broadcaster Zee's quarterly revenue falls on advertising woes
India's Zee Entertainment Enterprises reported a 14% drop in first-quarter revenue on Tuesday, as the broadcaster was hurt by weak spending by companies on advertisements. Zee, which runs channels like ZeeTV and ZeeCinema, reported consolidated total income of 18.5 billion rupees ($214.24 million) for the three months ended June 30, compared with 21.5 billion rupees a year ago. Shares of the company closed 5.7% lower after the announcement of the results. Zee's revenue from advertising — which accounts for nearly 40% of the total — was 16.8% below last year, marking its eleventh decline in the past twelve quarters. Advertisements are generally the biggest source of revenue for media companies including broadcasters. A shift in advertisement budgets to sports media platforms on account of cricket's lucrative Indian Premier League, coupled with subdued ad volume demand and the absence of last year's election-related spending, likely weighed on non-sports broadcasters during the quarter, analysts said. India's Zee fundraising fails as shareholders block founding family from raising stake Earlier this month, these factors led Reliance Group-backed Network18 Media - which owns news and entertainment channels - post a fall in quarterly revenue. Zee's revenue from other sales reduced by a 63%, while its subscription revenue remained flat. Meanwhile, the broadcaster's cost-cutting and frugality measures helped reduce its expenses by 15%. Zee's net profit rose 21.7%, led by lower costs and a one-off loss in the year-ago period. Core losses in Zee's streaming service, Zee5, narrowed 63%, while revenue rose 29.6%, boosted by new content releases on the platform.
