'Green Bones' gets a whopping 10 nominations at the FAMAS Awards
FAMAS has released its list of nominations for its 73rd edition with "Green Bones" getting nominated 10 times! Among them are Best Picture, Best Director (Zig Dulay), Best Actor (Dennis Trillo), and Best Supporting Actor (Ruru Madrid) and Best Supporting Actress (Alessandra De Rossi). The GMA Pictures entry to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival, "Green Bones" has already won several awards including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor at the MMFF and Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay at the EDDYS. "Balota" received four nominations including Best Picture, Best Actress Marian Rivera), and Best Supporting Actor (Will Ashley). The film previously earned for Marian Rivera her very first acting award, a Best Actress trophy she shared with Gabby Padilla at Cinemalaya 2024. Meanwhile, 2024's blockbuster hit "Hello Love Again," which became the first Filipino film to surpass P1 billion in gross sales, received five nominations including Best Actor (Alden Richards) and Best Actress (Kathryn Bernardo). GMA Pictures wins big at 8th EDDYs Awards

GMA Pictures took home the big prizes at the 8th Entertainment Editors' Choice held on July 20. Green Bones took home the Best Picture award, alongside Best Director for Zig Dulay, Best Actor for Dennis Trillo, Best Supporting Actor for Ruru Madrid, and Best Cinemetography. Marian Rivera was awarded as the Best Actress for her role in the Cinemalaya movie Balota. Hello, Love, Again lead stars Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo received the Box Office Hero Awardees. GMA Pictures was earlier proclaimed as Producer of the Year. GMA Pictures continues to bring world-class movies as P77, starring Barbie Forteza, shows in cinemas nationwide beginning July 30. P77 is a mind-bending horror film directed by Derick Cabrido and written by Enrico Santos, based on an original concept by Anj Atienza and Kristian Julao. Barbie portrays Luna, a breadwinner who was thrust to carry the weight of her family when her mother suddenly goes missing while working in P77. P77 will be distributed by Warner Bros. Philippines.

Got a story? Cinemalaya 2026 calls for entries for its 21st year
On July 11, the Cinemalaya Competition Committee will select 30 promising entries, whose proponents will be invited to a pitching session on July 26, 2025. From this group, 20 projects will be chosen to join the Cinemalaya Film Lab—a film development and mentorship program under the Cinemalaya Institute, which will run from this August to November. From the film lab and mentorship program of the Cinemalaya Institute, the Competition Committee will choose the 10 finalists for the 2026 Cinemalaya Main Competition. The 10 film finalists will be screened during the festival period from August 7 to 16 of next year at various festival venues.
