One Piece finally reveals who's stronger between Zoro and Sanji – Oda ends the debate in Elbaf arc

credit - toei animation Well, One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda has finally settled one of the series' most contentious arguments once and for all: Who is stronger, Zoro or Sanji? With the addition of new scenes from the Elbaf arc and introduction of key characters such as Scopper Gaban, the answer is now obvious and it isn't who's better, but rather they're equal. Zoro vs. Sanji: The rivalry that defined the straw hat crew Whether or not you're already an One Piece fan, you've definitely at least heard of Zoro and Sanji—two of the series' most powerful and popular characters. Zoro is the colossally cool swordsman who wants to be the world's greatest, and Sanji is the high-kicking foodie with a heart of gold. Both of them take the place of Luffy's top fighters and have been friendly rivals since their crews' earliest days. For years, fans have speculated and argued over who would win in a fight. Zoro typically gets to fight the strongest enemy's #2 and Sanji the #3 at the end of an arc. That difference doesn't tell the full story and now, the most recent arc has made it official, they're equals. Elbaf arc reveals: Zoro and Sanji put their lives on the line for Luffy During the ongoing Elbaf arc, it was Sanji and Zoro who endangered their lives to save Luffy. In the midst of that deadly standoff, Luffy found himself ensnared by one such 'bomb bubble', an explosive eddy proboscis that would have badly hurt or flat out killed our hero. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Without a moment's thought, Zoro jumped in the way, taking the damage himself to protect Luffy. This was the arc of Sanji's own sacrifice. X-Drake fought it though—unlike in an earlier battle, where he deliberately walked into a trap to save Luffy, fully aware that the trap would kill him. These moments weren't merely heroic—they were indicative of how far both men will go to protect their quarterback. As the final battle between the two started, fans witnessed how their loyalty and strength was reflected in each other's moves that proved Zoro and Sanji were more than just fighters. They are protectors, equals, and pillars of the Straw Hat crew. Oda Confirms it: Zoro and Sanji are equals, not rivals During the events of Chapter 1151, Oda first introduced us to Scopper Gaban, an important member of Pirate King Gol D. Roger's crew. Gaban is rumored to be on the same level as Rayleigh, who was Roger's right-hand man. Gaban goes so far as to lay claim to being the second strongest on the crew, implying he and Rayleigh were on the same level. This is significant because Gaban is mostly accepted by fans as a counterpart to Sanji, while Rayleigh has been compared to Zoro for years. What Oda is explicitly telling us here is that Zoro and Sanji are the modern day Gaban and Rayleigh—two strong fighters who are equal, both beside each other and above each other. Giant warrior parallels: Zoro and Sanji are like Dorry and Brogy The warrior giants Dorry and Brogy, who have been fighting for over 100 years without a winner, are one of the biggest returning throwbacks in the Elbaf arc. All the way back during the Little Garden arc, Zoro and Sanji were initially pitted against them, standing in for a rivalry that will never really come to a close with a definitive victor. We need to reference the Fisherman Island manga arc again, because Oda has now doubled down on that comparison between Zoro and Sanji being like Dorry and Brogy. Rivals in spirit, but equals in strength. Now that the Final Saga of One Piece is in full swing, each crew member's impact has become essential as the story escalates in stakes and intensity. Where they once operated largely as comic relief and functioned mostly in the periphery of the story, Zoro and Sanji have since become Luffy's right and left hands, ever on guard, literally in between him and danger at all times. In such a world, Imu, the Holy Knights and the World Government in general are stronger than ever. Now Oda is really driving it home — from a strength perspective and a story perspective, Zoro and Sanji are equally important to Luffy's journey. When does One Piece chapter 1151 release? One Piece Chapter 1151 officially releases on June 8, 2025. US and UK readers should be able to catch the chapter for free on Manga Plus on Saturday night or early Sunday, depending on your time zone. Oda's message is clear—Zoro and Sanji stand together Whether you've always cheered for Zoro's pure strength or Sanji's swift, kick-based elegance, the fact is officially set in stone. Oda doesn't want the fans pitting them against each other, treating them like rivals rather than comrades. Their recent displays during Elbaf, along with the strong similarities to legends such as Rayleigh and Gaban, confirm that Zoro and Sanji are indeed two irreplaceable warriors of the Straw Hat Pirates. So the next time somebody asks who's stronger, answer like this: 'They both are. Check out our list of the latest Hindi , English , Tamil , Telugu , Malayalam , and Kannada movies . One Piece: Zoro's next power-up will be a new type of haki to defeat immortals

In the Elbaf arc, Zoro is about to unlock a new Haki ability—one that targets the soul and may help him defeat the strongest enemies yet. In the upcoming Elbaf arc—assuming that everyone can get past this pointless little Kadai beast and not be distracted by it—Zoro is going to be introduced to a new Haki ability altogether—one that attacks the soul directly, and that is going to be necessary if he is to defeat the strongest enemies introduced so far. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now One Piece is easily one of the most popular anime and manga series on the planet. It centers on a pirate crew captained by Monkey D. Luffy as they hunt for the fabled treasure called the 'One Piece.' Each of his crew members are extremely formidable, but one of the most beloved characters is the super-human swordsman Roronoa Zoro. Zoro is a master swordsman with serious disposition, massive strength. For good reason, as he's had some of the biggest baddies of the entire series—and now, as a foray into the climax of the Elbaf arc, fans think he's on the verge of unlocking a huge new ability that will turn everything from a fistfight into a street fight. Zoro already has conqueror's haki—But it's not enough During the Wano arc, Zoro had a climactic battle against the equally powerful King, whose bounty was 1.39 billion berries. Through this brutal struggle, Zoro achieved Conqueror's Haki, one of the most rare and potent forms of energy in the One Piece universe. This advanced type of Haki gives the user the ability to dominate others with their spirit and even imbue their weaponry with it for tremendous effect. Zoro's sword Enma enabled to unleash this dormant power by forcing his Haki beyond its limits. 'Then I will become the King of Hell!' — Zoro, after defeating King After this battle, Zoro's bounty increased to 1.111 billion berries, ensuring he is one of the most deadly pirates in existence. Even that power, though, may not be enough to face the new villain's threat on Elbaf. Imu and the immortal army are the biggest threat yet In the ongoing Elbaf arc, the story has definitely escalated to a new degree. The enigmatic ruler of the world, Imu, finally stepped into the main story line. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Imu is more than a political leader. They are extremely powerful, apparently immortal, and even lead a demon army called the Holy Knights. These foes are unlike any the Straw Hat Pirates have confronted in the grand quest. Even Luffy's most powerful punches with Gear 5 and Conqueror's Haki were futile against them. Which has fans of the series asking one very important question—how can these new foes be defeated? Zoro's next power-up will be soul-cutting haki Going off clues in the manga as well as speculation from fans, it's suggested that a unique form of Haki is required to take down opponents that can't be killed through traditional means. This Haki goes directly after the magical soul of one's opponent, skipping right over their corporeal form and even their immortality. This special ability hasn't been fully detailed yet, it appears to be what's used by Scopper Gaban, a legendary former crewmate of Gol D. Roger. Gaban, who is currently stuck in the Underworld, shown using attacks that damage immortal beings – an ability no one else has been able to use up until now. 'His attacks are doing damage. What was his secret to success and how did he accomplish it? — Chopper, flabbergasted at Gaban's strength It's hoped that Gaban will have the chance to teach this skill to Zoro in the near future, and perhaps the other Straw Hats as well. Zoro's training in Elbaf could make him admiral-level Once Zoro figures out the secret to cutting immortal bodies, he's going to be more powerful than ever before. Fans maintain that he would be able to go up against foes in minutes like the giant warrior Dorry or even have a fighting chance against Admirals of the Navy. Not just that, this would get him one step closer to beating his long-time foe—Dracule Mihawk, the world's strongest swordsman. Zoro's trained his whole life for that moment, and the Elbaf arc should finally set him up for it. One Piece chapter 1151 release date and time The next chapter of One Piece will come out . Sunday, 8 June 2025 (US/UK), TBC Legit platforms: Manga Plus, Viz Media 12 AM JST (Monday) Or, you can read it for free and legally through these services, which sync up the same day as Japan's official release. Zoro is consistently the most beloved character in all of One Piece, so each time he levels up it never fails to get fans pumped. This new Haki ability to cut through souls would make them the biggest game changers, particularly as the so-called Straw Hat Pirates gets ready to topple the biggest antagonist and main masterminds of One Piece. With Imu's demon army on the attack and the Final Saga at a zenith climax, Zoro's next power-up may very well determine the fate of the entire world.

Every time Zoro gets lost in One Piece (And why fans love it)

In the high stakes world of One Piece, Roronoa Zoro is legendary as a feared Swordsman Supreme, a staunch loyal lieutenant to Luffy, and one of the most dangerous Straw Hat Pirates to ever sail the Grand Line. As great a warrior as he is, there's one thing he can't master—his confusing sense of direction! It's transformed into one of the most beloved, running jokes within the entire series. No matter the story, no matter the place, if Zoro is ever on his own for a second, he's going to get lost. From traveling the opposite direction on a direct route, to scaling buildings due to misreading his compass, Zoro's navigational blunders are always hilarious. Here's our definitive count of every time Zoro got lost in the anime, showing that he really is directionally challenged. 1. Lost at sea (East blue saga) Shortly after joining Luffy, Zoro departs on a rickety dingy with no navigator. Unsurprisingly, the two continue to flounder until they meet Nami. This would be the first of many clues that Zoro's internal compass is irreparably off kilter. 2. The little garden hunting competition In the midst of the Little Garden arc, Zoro and Sanji engage in a competition to see who can hunt the biggest prey. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Encontre voos low-cost Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo Zoro promptly gets lost in the jungle, walks in circles, and keeps walking past the same tree without realizing it. 3. Snowstorm training gone wrong (Drum island arc) During his extreme training of swimming in frozen oceans, Zoro gets lost in a blizzard, causing him to accidentally get stuck in an avalanche. Not only does he get lost—he almost dies of exposure. 4. The alabasta mix-ups Alabasta is arguably one of Zoro's most head-scratching arcs. First, he runs the wrong way when a critical flare is launched while searching for the bomb to defuse. Soon he finds himself venturing beyond the city walls altogether. In an even worse moment, even the Marines feel sorry for him and point him back in the direction of his home town. 5. "North" means up? In pursuit of a new target, Zoro receives instructions to travel up north. Rather than orient himself with a compass, he gambles that 'north' means 'up'—and scales the exterior of a skyscraper. Even the Straw Hats are confused. 6. The sky island snake loop (Skypeia arc) After being separated in the Upper Yard, Zoro's team gets eaten by a massive snake. Once they break out, wouldn't you know it, Zoro is able to stumble his way back directly to the same spot, none the wiser. 7. A bird literally carries him away Later in Skypeia, Zoro is forced to anger a gigantic skybird, engage it in combat and through what I can only imagine as a scene of comedic poetic justice, gets picked up and carried off through the skies. He was indeed attempting to walk a straight line before this kicked in. 8. The G8 base filler arc My favorite example is when Zoro gets arrested in the G8 Marine base simply because he was unable to find the secret hiding place that everyone else was able to locate. In the face of overwhelming danger, he makes it to the surface—all while strolling through underwater enemy territory, searching for his fellow crewmates. 9. Leading a group into a trap Even as they're fleeing the G8, Zoro refuses to consult a map or admit that he's lost. Usopp tells him not to take charge of the team and lo and behold, Zoro immediately leads them right into a Marine trap. 10. Davy back disaster In a 'Red Light, Green Light' style game in which everybody freezes mid-movement except one player, Zoro ends up walking the opposite direction down a totally clear path. His bad call leaves the Straw Hats in a tough spot going into the Davy Back Fight. 11. Stuck in a chimney (Water 7 arc) After going missing after the battle, Zoro is later discovered trapped upside down in a chimney. At first, Chopper even thinks his legs are some kind of sea monster! 12. Wrong way in enies lobby On one of the most notable missions in Enies Lobby, Nami instructs Zoro to go upstairs. Of course, he bolts down the stairs. Now it's up to Chopper to get him back on track before he bolts off in the wrong direction yet again. 13. Running in circles on water 7 Bound to alert the crew to approaching Marines, Zoro circles back to the same plaza four times. Finally, one benevolent citizen stops and takes pity, rescuing him before he goes sliding off course. 14. Lost on a shopping trip When on a brief vacation, Zoro goes missing after a shopping trip. Next, he miraculously finds himself loaded into a dead-end alley nowhere near where the crew is working. 15. Left behind on an iceberg (Post-Enies lobby) As Zoro takes his eye off the ball, cutting apart icebergs to make way for the ship, Zoro gets distracted. His crew abandons ship, leaving him to live alone on a drifting, freezer-sized hunk of ice. 16. Grove number confusion (Sabaody archipelago) Zoro, meanwhile, is instructed to make his way to the crew's temporary base of operations at Grove 41. He looks at Grove 1 and thinks it is the right one, despite the big red bubble covering the true value. 17. Stuck in a castle (Kuraigana island) Once Mihawk's training starts, Zoro spends hours wandering Perona's spooky castle in search of his lost swords. She is forced to stop him after he walks by the same rooms several times. 18. Walking in circles after time skip Once he's rescued his prized swords, Zoro sets out to find his own way around the strange island. He eventually comes back—mad as hell—under the assumption that nobody was sent to look for him at all. As it turned out, he had been going around the outside of the castle all along. 19. Mistakes a pirate ship for the sunny Zoro takes a snooze on what he believes to be the Thousand Sunny. In reality, it is the pirate ship of the Seven Seas, a boat used for illegal fishing. By the time he gets out of bed, they're well on their way in the other direction. 20. Running from poison gas (Punk hazard) While fleeing alongside Tashigi, Zoro constantly gets lost. Through some lucky coincidence, he's on pace to finish long before the rest of the team. 21. Dressrosa sword chase fail In search of his stolen sword, Zoro pursues a miniature human called Wicca. With explicit guidance, somehow he still gets turned around and arrives too late to the first battle. 22. Lost during wood chopping (Zou arc) Tasked with aiding the reconstruction of the Mink Tribe's capital city, Zoro disappears into the forest while gathering firewood. Nami later discovers him… cutting down the same tree repeatedly. Why fans love this gag Zoro's inability to ever figure out where to go is one of One Piece's longest running, side-splitting gags and biggest visual gags. It's the ideal complement to his coldly murderous demeanor. Whether he's battling foes with three blades or scaling a mountain side because he heard "north" was up, Zoro never fails to bring the fun. Even the character's creator, Eiichiro Oda, has admitted to this character flaw in both interviews and fanbooks. It's a wonderful, yet subtle, character touch that adds humor, warmth and unpredictability to an otherwise stoic warrior. So even though Zoro may be the crew's greatest warrior, whatever you do, don't let him guide you on your journey. One Piece season 2 teaser reveals Zoro's new swords—and anime fans are hyped

Netflix's live-action One Piece adaptation took the world by storm with its first season last year, and we're already counting down the days until Season 2 arrives. To help maintain that excitement, Netflix has unveiled a new exclusive teaser trailer, this one honing in on fan-favorite swordsman Roronoa Zoro—and specifically, his brand new swords. Zoro is back in the first full teaser, bringing with him that signature straw hat silhouette and piercing gaze as well as two legendary new blades with which anime fans should be familiar right off the bat. These sword upgrades don't just feel great, they're a huge breath of fresh air and excitement in the One Piece timeline and a hint at where the story might be going further down the line. Zoro's new swords confirm key One Piece story arcs The teaser features Zoro with all three swords, the Wado Ichimonji, Sandai Kitetsu and Yubashiri. A little something for long-time One Piece fans Out of all the stuff I just mentioned, this one probably excites me the most—the live-action show is going into the Loguetown arc. Wado Ichimonji: This iffy yet classic blade is linked to Zoro's childhood promise and has been with the swordsman since day one. Sandai Kitetsu: A mysterious, cursed sword that Zoro takes in a scary fashion at Loguetown, facing off against fate incarnate. Yubashiri A rare and refined sword, which was presented to Zoro by a weapon store proprietor who values his skill. The addition of these iconic weapons her arrival just further indicates that the story is really picking up steam and staying true to Eiichiro Oda's original anime and manga. Look forward to huge high-stakes war, new characters, and expanded lore. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like One of the Most Successful Investors of All Time, Warren Buffett, Recommends: 5 Books for Turning... Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Click Here Undo What Zoro's new swords mean for season 2's story What kind of story can each sword tell us about who Zoro is growing up to be? He's not only on a journey to nab the world's most powerful blades. He's undertaking a quest of honor, adventure, and self-discovery. The Sandai Kitetsu is a representation of Zoro's fearless attitude. Yubashiri underscores the authority he's gained. Though Wado Ichimonji thereby curses him to a disaffected existence of death and destruction, it serves to keep him grounded in his original promise to Kuina. Combined, they represent his journey to become the greatest swordsman in the world. The teaser indicates that Season 2 will delve even further into Zoro's internal conflicts—not just against other characters, but against his destiny and legacy. One Piece live-action series is staying true to the source material This teaser is a great sign that Netflix is committed to respecting the anime's legacy. The addition of cursed swords, tragic backstories and foreshadowing of major arcs to come is just what fans were hoping for. For hardcore anime fans, this is an absolute dream. For veterans, it's an excellent opportunity to introduce them. If you're new to One Piece, imagine it like this: Zoro's swords, a bunch of shimmering props, are pointers that help you understand who he is, where he's been, and what's about to happen. Zoro's sword teaser hints at bigger moments in season 2 Meaning Netflix is promising more than just cool action scenes by bringing these swords in this early. Here's what we could witness: Smoker's debut, TCGA 019863. The podium for Gold Roger's execution The crew's farewell-former homeland to the East Blue The stakes are definitely being raised, and this first look teaser greatly hints that Zoro's background and origins will be the focus. If the season can get these moments right, One Piece Season 2 has a strong chance to be one of the most successful anime-adjacent hits of 2024. Zoro's sword upgrade is a big win for One Piece fans Netflix's surprise reveal of Zoro's new swords is more than just an awesome trailer drop. It's a commitment. Consider this a pledge that Season 2 will be more epic, more profound, and truer to the anime that has captivated its audiences. As Zoro faces new trials, armed with deadly new blades, and keeps his eye on the prize of his dream, Season 2 seems poised to bring monumental battles along with a poignant narrative to raise the stakes. So whether you've followed One Piece through 26 years of manga and 1000 episodes of anime, or you've just started with the live-action series, Zoro's new swords are a great excuse to dive back into all the adventures.
