Southern California deputies recover partially assembled improvised explosives
A 38-year-old man was arrested after deputies in Riverside County found him in possession of dozens of illegal firearms, bomb-making materials and ammunition, authorities announced Thursday. In a news release, officials with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said that Brandon Edwards, a resident of Homeland, was spotted by deputies in an alleged stolen vehicle near Glen Oaks and Pratt roads in Temecula on the morning of June 8. After conducting a traffic stop and searching the vehicle, deputies located four firearms – a mix of rifles and handguns – suppressors and a large amount of ammunition. Edwards was then arrested on weapons charges and possession of a stolen vehicle. During a follow-up investigation at his Homeland residence in the 25000 block of Rocky Ridge Road, approximately 20 miles from where deputies took him into custody, authorities recovered dozens of illegal firearms, more ammunition, explosive making materials and homemade improvised explosive devices in the process of being assembled. Investigators also say the 38-year-old was manufacturing illegal firearms and selling them. No motive was provided for why the suspect was assembling improvised explosive devices and it's unclear if the man intended to set them off and where. Handwritten notes, HAM radio help rescue mother, son lost in California forest RCSD's Hazardous Device Team responded to the residence to safely seize the materials. Edwards is now facing additional charges related to weapons possession, criminal threats and possession of bomb-making materials. He is currently being held without bail at the Cois Byrd Detention Center. Anyone with information about the ongoing investigation is urged to contact RCSD Deputy Richard Schweitzer at 951-696-3063. Czech-arranged ammunition shipments to Ukraine are increasing, says government
PRAGUE: Czech-arranged shipments of artillery ammunition to Ukraine are rising this year, proving partners' trust in a government program matching donations from NATO partners with offers to sell ammunition, the Czech Defense Ministry said on Thursday. As Ukraine suffered from shortage of ammunition last year, the Czechs set up a team which has together with private companies searched for available ammunition stocks and new production around the world. The available ammunition batches are being offered to donor countries, which then pick which they want to finance. The program, which makes use of the Czechs' traditional arms trading contacts, has been a flagship of the center-right government's international efforts to help Ukraine fight Russia's aggression. It has also donated heavy equipment and other material worth hundreds of millions of euros. Director Ales Vytecka of the defense ministry's AMOS international cooperation agency said that so far this year, shipments totalled 850,000 shells, including 320,000 NATO artillery 155mm calibre projectiles. This compares with 1.5 million total, including 500,000 155-mm shells, throughout 2024. Andrej Babis, head of the Czech opposition ANO party that leads opinion polls ahead of an election in October, vowed to scrap the initiative if ANO returns to power, saying in a Reuters interview this week the program was overpriced and untransparent. Vytecka rejected criticism of drive, saying there was as much transparency as security concerns allowed. 'Clear and undeniable proof of the satisfaction of our partners is the fact that in 2025 donors' contributions have significantly risen,' Vytecka said. So far this year, contributions have risen by 29 percent compared with the whole of 2024, he said without giving concrete sums, adding that countries raising their contributions included Canada, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands and Denmark. He said donor countries always decided themselves which supplies and at what prices they would finance, and the offers were subject to audits in individual donor countries. The Czechs have mostly acted as an intermediary. The government said last year it allocated around 35 million euros for ammunition purchases from a Czech supplier.

Trump Jr.-backed GrabAGun recovers slightly after sharp NYSE debut drop
(Reuters) -Donald Trump Jr.-backed GrabAGun's shares inched up 2% in premarket trading on Thursday, recovering slightly after tumbling 24% in their New York Stock Exchange debut following a blank-check merger. According to the gun retailer's prospectus filed with the U.S. securities regulator, Trump Jr., the oldest son of President Donald Trump, owns about 300,000 shares in the company, currently worth roughly $4 million. Trump Jr. also sits on the board of the online retailer of firearms, ammunition and gun accessories. The Trump family's business interests span real estate, hospitality, media, and increasingly, politically aligned ventures tied to gun rights and conservative consumerism. From Donald Trump's sprawling portfolio of golf courses and hotels to Trump Media & Technology Group's volatile public debut - and now Trump Jr.'s stake in GrabAGun - the family's brand has been used to tap into a loyal base of supporters and investors. These ventures, often closely tied to the president's political identity, have drawn scrutiny from regulators and investors. "What we're doing with GrabAGun would have been unthinkable four years ago at the height of wokeness in corporate America," Trump Jr. said in a post on X. Founded in 2010, the company offers an assortment of sporting firearms, ammunition and accessories. It has said it expects to benefit from a shift to online shopping by younger firearm enthusiasts. SPACs allow their shareholders to redeem their shares and get their money back if they do not like the proposed merger target. Colombier said it had seen "near-zero" such redemptions, signaling "clear confidence" in the GrabAGun business. The merger positions GrabAGun among a growing group of right-leaning companies such as Trump Media, Rumble and Chain Bridge Bancorp that have gone public in recent years.
