Timaru's Water Becomes A Third Time Champion For Taste
Timaru's Seadown water supply has been crowned the best tasting in New Zealand as part of the 2025 IXOM National Water Taste Test competition. It's not only the humans that enjoy the best tasting water in NZ, the supply is a rural scheme that services 450 properties and plenty of stock in the 5000-hectare area north of Timaru. 'The Seadown Scheme also services our airport, so everyone is welcome to come visit and try the best water in New Zealand, there's a drinking fountain ready for you when you land,' Timaru District Mayor Nigel Bowen said. 'We all take it for granted that we can just turn a tap and the safe, clean and great tasting water comes out, but it takes quite a bit of work to get it there. 'There are 13 schemes in the Timaru District, it takes a lot of work from the team and infrastructure to get it from the source to tap and tasting the best. 'Water is one of our core services in local government and it's great to know we are doing our best for the ratepayer.' Timaru District Council Drainage and Water Manager Andrew Lester said after winning the best tasting water with Pleasant Point and Downlands in previous years, it was important to 'show a little love to Timaru's other water Schemes'. 'We were pretty confident going in that we had the best tasting water, but there was some pretty stiff competition with Waimakariri, Taupo and Rotorua,' he said. 'Our team work hard, so it was great to hear the judges say our water is crisp and delicious. 'We look forward to seeing how we go in the Trans-Tasman taste test, and as we said about the New Zealand competition, may the best water win.'

Thousands without power as storms move through Memphis area
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Thousands in Memphis could be waking up without power on Tuesday morning as storms are making their way across the Mid-South. Over 5,000 Memphis Light, Gas, and Water customers are without power, and the number is slowly increasing as a round of weather passes through the area. The first signs of outages were around 5 a.m. The Mid-South has an 'Enhanced Risk' for severe weather today. Strong storms are expected today after lunch, bringing with them the possibility of isolated tornadoes. Prime Minister Meets Ministers of Oil, Minerals, Electricity, and Water
Sana'a - Saba: Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi met today with the Minister of Oil and Minerals, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ameer, and the Minister of Electricity, Energy, and Water, Dr. Ali Saif, to discuss joint efforts between the two ministries to ensure the stability of electricity and water services provided through the relevant public institutional frameworks. The meeting focused on necessary joint measures to mitigate the repercussions of the American, Israeli, and British aggression on the electricity and water sectors. During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the two ministries taking coordinated actions with other relevant entities to ensure the continued operation of power plants and water pumping facilities for citizens. Leadership of Electricity & Water Ministry visits summer courses in Al-Thawra District, Capital Secretariat
Sana'a - Saba: The leadership of the Ministry of Electricity, Energy, and Water reviewed on Monday the activities of summer courses in several centers in Al-Thawra District, Capital Secretariat. Taqi al-Din Al-Muta', the official in charge of the Financial and Administrative Affairs Sector at the ministry, along with those overseeing the summer courses at Al-Imam Al-Mansur Billah Center in Al-Adl Mosque and Hassan Nasrallah Center in Al-Daf'i Mosque in Al-Thawra District, received a briefing on the level of activities provided to students in the summer courses and their engagement with various programs. Al-Muta' and a number of ministry officials also listened to student participations, including Quran memorization , recitation, speeches, scientific and cultural activities, which highlighted the students' benefit from the courses in developing their skills and expanding their knowledge. The visitors praised the students' interaction with the diverse summer programs and activities, emphasizing that such courses provide a safe educational environment that contributes to building a conscious generation rooted in faith-based identity and Quranic culture, while being shielded from foreign ideologies and soft warfare. Workshop do develop Electricity Ministry's plan for new year
Sana'a - Saba: A two-day workshop began today in Sana'a to prepare a 1447 AH plan for projects, activities, and indicators at the Ministry of Electricity, Energy, and Water. The workshop, organized by the Ministry, will last for two days. The workshop aims to enable 40 male and female trainees from the Ministry's affiliated bodies and institutions, as well as local water and sanitation institutions in the capital and governorates, to familiarize themselves with the plan models and incorporate their comments and additions. This will then be adopted as a unified model for the Ministry and its affiliated bodies, resulting in a unified plan for 1447 AH. At the opening, Abdulsalam Al-Hakimi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Water Sector at the Ministry, highlighted the importance of the workshop in familiarizing planning officials at the Ministry and its affiliated bodies, agencies, and institutions with the key tasks involved in preparing the plan. He considered the workshop a practical translation of the directives of the Revolutionary Leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the program of the Government of Change and Construction, within the framework of the objectives and regulations of the Ministry of Electricity, Energy, and Water, to move forward toward improving performance and advancing the electricity and water sectors. The Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Projects, Engineer Ahmed Al-Mutawakel, emphasized the importance of training specialists to prepare the 1447 AH plan, based on models prepared by the Planning Sector at the Prime Minister's Office. He emphasized the need for next year's plan to be realistic and in line with the current situation and actual needs, thus contributing to its implementation on the ground. He expressed hope that the 1447 AH plan would be the beginning of the comprehensive implementation of the Government of Change and Construction program across the Ministry's agencies. At the opening of the workshop, attended by the Head of the Ministry's Planning Unit and workshop coordinator, Wassama Al-Ariqi, the Ministry's Director of Water Sector Reform, Zaid Al-Kahlani, emphasized the importance of preparing the Ministry's plan in accordance with general guidelines, prepared models, and urgent priorities. He explained that the workshop aims to enable participants to familiarize themselves with models of plans and programs, based on a scientific, participatory vision based on reality and actual needs. He emphasized the need to strengthen the capacity of planning personnel to ensure the achievement of strategic planning objectives in designing projects and activities and addressing obstacles facing their implementation in a scientific and thoughtful manner. Al-Kahlani commended the efforts of the workshop coordinator in preparing and equipping the camp, as well as the role of the Ministry's Training and Rehabilitation Center, with its expertise and capabilities in qualifying and training the Ministry's employees, institutions, and bodies.
