Ranvir Singh breaks her silence following hospital dash for 'urgent surgery' as she admits 'I thought it might be cancer'
Ranvir Singh has broken her silence on her 'urgent surgery' earlier this month, admitting that she 'thought it might be cancer'. The 47-year-old had to pull out of hosting Lorraine on May 9 because she had emergency surgery just hours before her shift which was actually down to a ruptured appendix. On Friday's episode of Good Morning Britain, Ranvir and co-host Rob Rinder, 46, spoke to Made In Chelsea 's star Sam Vanderpump about nearly losing his life due to sepsis. The reality star 'nearly died' after liver and kidney failure caused life-threatening sepsis and took to the ITV show to raise awareness and vital signs to look out for. Reflecting on her recent own health scare, Ranvir said: 'My appendix ruptured a few weeks ago. 'The thing that made me call 111 after I'd been writhing around all day straight after work, it was 8 o'clock at night and I thought, "Let's just check it's not bowel cancer" because Lorraine's team had been doing a bowel cancer campaign. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'So raising awareness genuinely works in the moment because when you're in pain, you go, 'what could it be?' 'And so just planting the seed in the mind of someone in 111 can work.' Ranvir took to Instagram earlier this month to explain what had happened to her. Sharing some pictures from her hospital bed, Ranvir told her followers: 'Had a fab time as always hosting @lorraine last Wednesday wearing this gorgeous linen white pinstripe suit, felt a bit drained and foggy in the morning but nothing a couple of coffees couldn't sort out. 'I'm off air - all good - at 1030am I feel this sudden stomach ache. I stay in bed all day. Turns out I had a ruptured appendix and had urgent surgery at midnight on Thursday!' She continued: 'Woke up 5am on Friday morning, high on anaesthetic and certain I could get into work to host the show as normal.. 'Pretty nasty few days, the bacteria had spread and infected my blood etc and told to take this week off by @jadeens. 'I'm sore and shuffling around, can't drive for a week, and no exercise for 4 weeks (!) so really it's the boredom that will kill me! 'Ps. Anyone else have this horrendous shoulder pain afterwards? It's mad isn't it!' Many rushed to the comments section to share the love and send their best wishes. Good Morning Britain star Alex Beresford said: 'Awwww wishing you a speedy recovery xxxx.' Emmerdale star Bradley Riches commented: 'Sending my love xoxoxo.' Another fan wrote: 'Get well soon! Take it easy!' 'Hopefully you feel better very soon big hugs.' Lorraine viewers were surprised to see Andi Peters on Friday's instalment of the ITV show when Ranvir was supposed to be presenting. The 54-year-old took to the sofa in a surprise mystery presenter shake-up. Andi stepped in for Ranvir last minute, telling viewers: 'First thing's first, I've just got to say get well soon to Ranvir who can't be here today... 'Which is why they have drafted in a man in a bright orange shirt just to make sure you are awake this morning! 'Get well soon Ranvir. We send you all of our love.' At the time Andi did not reveal what is wrong with former Strictly star Ranvir.

Bindi Irwin's emergency surgery took unexpected turn forcing her to miss Steve Irwin Gala
Bindi Irwin is recovering after an unexpected surgery that forced her to miss the annual Steve Irwin Gala over the weekend. Days after the 26-year-old was forced into emergency surgery after showing signs of "discomfort" and "pain," Irwin took to social media to share details of the procedure. "Hey, guys. Bindi here. I just want to say thank you so much for your incredible well-wishes," Irwin, who was lying in her hospital bed, said in an Instagram video shared on Monday. "I just got out of surgery about an hour ago. I had my appendix removed. I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed, and they kindly stitched up my hernia," she added. "Sorry if I'm a little out of it in this video, but I just wanted you to know that I'm on the road to recovery, one step at a time. I am so lucky to have so much love in my life from my beautiful family." In the caption, Irwin thanked her medical team before revealing the details of her emergency surgery. "I am so thankful that I got the help I needed with Dr. Seckin and Dr. Chu at Lenox Hill Hospital. After many months of a grumbly appendix, I finally had to seek help the day of our Steve Irwin Gala. After consulting with Dr. Seckin, we agreed that if I flew to New York, he could also check for endometriosis again," she wrote. "Surgery was a success. My appendix was removed, along with another 14 lesions (after having 37 endometriosis lesions and a cyst removed two years ago). I also had a repair to a large hernia I acquired through childbirth four years ago." "Thankfully, I am on the road to recovery. I appreciate all the kind messages I've received, and the support for our Gala in Las Vegas," she continued. "Credit to Robert for hosting the evening, he did such an incredible job raising funds and awareness for Wildlife Warriors. And thanks to my family for always being there for me. I have so much love for dear Chandler & sweet Grace. Thank you to Mum for being there with me every step of the way. And rest assured, I'll see you at the next Steve Irwin Gala in Brisbane this November. One day at a time. Time to heal now. Sending my love to you all." On Saturday, her brother Robert Irwin revealed that Bindi underwent immediate surgery due to a ruptured appendix. "She's going to be OK, but surgery – out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them," Robert told People at the event in Las Vegas. "She's just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes. Health is so important – it really is. Bindi has become an incredible advocate for women's health, particularly, and I think it's really important to prioritize getting help." "She came to Las Vegas and was ready to come to the gala, put on a brave face in a lot of discomfort and a lot of pain and said, 'Nope, I'm just going to tough it out, I'm going to go for it,'" he added. "But the surgeon said, 'No, your appendix is going. That thing's gotta come out.' Health has to come first. She's very sad. She's devastated that she and Mom can't be here, but I know she'll make a speedy recovery." In 2023, the mom of one revealed an endometriosis diagnosis that also required surgery. "My life now looks completely different than it did before I had my surgery," Irwin told Fox News Digital at the time. "Over the 10 years that I was really battling with endo[metriosis] without knowing it, I would get progressively worse every week and in the end, before my surgery, I was barely able to get out of bed." Irwin, who described the pain she experienced as a "stabbing feeling" and "really scary," revealed in March that she had endured the painful condition for 10 years and struggled for a proper diagnosis.

Bindi Irwin hospitalized for emergency surgery, misses annual Steve Irwin gala
Bindi Irwin missed an important family function due to an unexpected medical emergency. The 26-year-old was hospitalized and underwent emergency surgery after her appendix ruptured, her brother, Robert Irwin, confirmed at their late father Steve Irwin's annual gala on Saturday. 'She's going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,' Robert, 21, said about Bindi in an interview with People at the event in Las Vegas. 'She's just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes,' Robert continued. 'Health is so important — it really is.' Robert said his sister, who underwent surgery for endometriosis in March 2023, was initially going to attend the gala despite her health issues. 'She came to Las Vegas and was ready to come to the gala, put on a brave face in a lot of discomfort and a lot of pain and said, 'Nope, I'm just going to tough it out, I'm going to go for it,' ' Robert explained. 'But the surgeon said, 'No, your appendix is going. That thing's gotta come out.' Health has to come first.' Robert confirmed that his mom, Terri Irwin, 60, was also skipping the gala to help Bindi recover. 'She's very sad,' he said about Bindi. 'She's devastated that she and Mom can't be here, but I know she'll make a speedy recovery.' Robert added of his sister, 'Bindi has become an incredible advocate for women's health, particularly, and I think it's really important to prioritize getting help.' One day before the gala, Bindi shared photos of herself with her brother and her mom in Las Vegas. 'Khaki by day – Bellagio chic by night! Here in #LasVegas for the #SteveIrwinGala raising funds and awareness for Wildlife Warriors,' she wrote. 'Supporting conservation and remembering Dad's extraordinary legacy. Enormous gratitude to everyone for your support as we continue to do all that we can to protect wildlife and wild places for the future generations.' The Steve Irwin Gala takes place annually and raises funds to continue the late star's conservation work worldwide. Steve died from a stingray attack at age 44 in Sept. 2006. Bindi first shared her endometriosis diagnosis over two years ago. She gave an update on her health on the Feb. 3 episode of the 'A Life of Greatness' podcast. 'I went for 10 years undiagnosed because doctors really didn't know enough, they diagnosed me with a million other things, like IBS, or hormones or 'It's just part of being a woman,'' she explained. 'The symptoms continued to snowball and it took me such a long time to find help.' The 'Dancing with the Stars' winner continued, 'It resulted in a lot of canceled plans, people must have thought I was just incredibly flaky because I was getting so sick from this disease that I would try to get up and I would just throw up, I was in so much pain all the time. Every day the fatigue and the battle.' Bindi added on the podcast that she's 'so grateful to be on the other side of surgery.' 'There's no cure for endometriosis, but if you're able to get surgery you have a better shot at life,' she shared. 'Maybe in five of 10 years, I'll have to get another surgery, but for now, it's all gone, which I'm very grateful for.'
