New £500k fairytale playground with treehouses and wooden castle to open in the UK
A HUGE new £500,000 fairytale attraction with climbing frames and play forts is set to open in the UK. Brechin Castle Centre is currently home to a garden centre and country park. 5 5 And new plans have revealed the new kids playground set to open on the grounds. Designed by UK play specialists Greenspan, the 10m wooden castle will have rope bridges, slides and puzzles. Themed areas will include a "throne room" as well as an armoury, music parlour and magician's study. Kids will be able to spot a dragon on the tower as well. It says: 'The proposal is to remove the existing apparatus from the playpark and erect a play fort structure that provides visual and physical fun for children. "The play fort will be a timber structure with small rooms, bridge walkways, rope walkways, slides, puzzles, and visual interests.' Brechin Castle Centre marketing and events manager Susan Young told local media of the inspiration behind the new attraction. She explained: 'We wanted to create something truly magical, a place where children could become princesses, dragon trainers, wizards, or brave adventurers. 'It's not just a play structure; it's an escape into a world straight out of a storybook.' She also said that the castle was just the "first step" in their growth plans. Families have shared their excitement with one saying "this looks great for the kids". In the mean time, guests can visit the 70-acre country park which also has go-karts, splash park and sand pits. Crazy golf, pedal tractors, fairy trails and wooden sledge run rides are also on-site. 5 5 Kids can also hop on the Barrel train that runs twice a day around the park. Families can even take their own picnics although there is a food and drink shack. Also nearby is Brechin Castle, which dates back to the 13th century The next opening period for tourists is June 18 to July 20. The castle was put on the market back in 2021 for £3million, after being owned by the same family for nearly 400 years. Huge £100million beachfront attraction with indoor forests and treehouses forced to delay opening date
THE Eden Project in Morecambe has been pushed back by two years with an even later opening date, The new project costing £100m was expected to open in 2026, but work on the attraction is yet to start. 5 With changes still being made on the design details, Eden Project Morecambe is now expected to open in 2028 - two years later than originally planned. According to the BBC, Local Government Minister Alex Norris confirmed all allocated funding for the project would be in place by early 2026, when building work is likely to get under way. Despite the delay, an updated report has said that "work has been progressing". There will also be a big meeting on June 4 to discuss the Eden Project with Lancaster City Council's budget and performance panel. The Eden Project Morecambe was first given official government approval back in March 2023. It also secured £50million in Levelling Up funding to allow work to commence on the £100million project. The project was originally named Eden Project North, and the hope was that it would have the same success as the Eden Project in Cornwall, which opened in 2001. Plans for the site are very impressive, showing three huge egg-shaped structures looking over the bay. Other images of the potential site reveal walkways linking treehouses, as well as other wooden structures. Once completed, the new Eden Project will be home to a "hyper-real forest" with large installations and immersive theatre. The new £130million Eden Project attraction set to open in the UK 5 The plans also reveal a "Bay Glade" with a well-being landscape and a Natural Observatory for research and education. There will also be an exhibition area and meeting point for guests named the Bay Hall. The attraction will also have children's play areas, restaurants, cafes and a gift shop. The Eden Project website states: " Eden Project Morecambe will be a destination that combines indoor and outdoor experiences, connecting people with the internationally-significant natural environment of Morecambe Bay while also enhancing wellbeing. "Eden Project Morecambe will combine exhibits, performance, learning, play, immersive experiences, world-class horticulture, live music, art, food, beverage and retail spaces, all integrated as essential parts of the overall experience." 5 The site in Morecambe isn't the only one set to open in the UK, there's plans to build another Eden Project in Dundee. The Eden Project Dundee was also expected to open in 2026, but has been pushed back to 2030. The attraction is set to be built along the River Tay and attract as many as 500,000 tourists a year. Another Eden Project set to open is in Londonderry. This one is set to open this year - two years after the original opening date. The Eden Project Foyle in Northern Ireland is costing an estimated £67million and is set to have the biggest undercover play area in Europe. The main attraction will be the Acorn, a "performance area and play space" connected by walkway, with the entire site being the largest undercover play area in Europe. This includes zip wires, rope bridges, slides, floating boardwalks and paths on the roof that both adults and children can walk along. Question I am a woman in my mid 60s and have been volunteering for some time with a historical site. I have loved it and found like-minded people to mix with, and it has been a delight. However, now there is a man, who also volunteers with the group, and he seems to be interested in me. He is in his late 60s and his wife died about eight years ago. Honestly, the body preparation involved for women at my age to consider actual sex with someone is more than beyond the effort I am prepared to make. The trimming of pubic hair and exposure of my parts to another human being is quite simply impossible. However, I'm liking being found attractive and it's entertaining to put on nice clothes and for someone to notice and comment. He is also cute in a way, but I know better than to think that I am the love of his life. Weirdly, this is really occupying my thoughts and I'm less contented, but more excited, than I have been for quite some time. It is a lovely thing to find that you are attracted to and desired by another human being, and this is a delight that is worth savouring. You seem to be very clear that you are not exposing yourself to any physical intimacy, and so all that might need to happen at this stage is that, at an appropriate time, you voice that and make sure that you are heard. However, it might be that this particular no-go area is one that needs another look and may be worth reflecting on. Many women in their later life report that they are looking for companionship and not sexual intimacy, and this is a legitimate ask. With age, there is some hope that the body scrutiny of younger ages might fade to be replaced with a sense of the body's right to pleasure without criticism. Indeed, many simple pleasures can be had without intercourse and, if there is enough safety and comfort, some long lingering physical engagement can be wonderful. Think of the heavy petting of the pre-contraception days and how good it was to delay gratification – yes, there was plenty of frustration too, but sex was less performance-based and wooing could go on for weeks, if not months. At this age, you should not need to take on someone else's emotions and in fact you can trust that they have managed life well enough not to need you to carry their needs or worries for them. This will free you up to take pleasure where you find it and, hopefully, wallow in it a little. Your concern that your body will not be up to scratch is something that you could address. Comparing it with younger or more nubile bodies is unfair and will close it down to pleasure. Buffing and dehairing it may also further your self-consciousness so consider doing nothing at all and instead focus on what your body enjoys and likes. This is something that may require time, investigation and even a partner in order to arrive at success. ‘Top Gun' attraction heading to Las Vegas in 2028
