‘America's Got Talent 20' recap: Auditions end as Howie and Simon pie an opera singer in the face
America's Got Talent Season 20 continued Tuesday night with the end of its auditions episodes. This week features teenage acrobat brothers, married stand-up comedians competing against each other, a dance crew that spun off from a Golden Buzzer act from earlier in the season, and an opera singer named Avalon Penrose that inspires the judges to engage in an all-out paint balloon and pie fight on stage. In the final hour of the episode, Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Mel B narrow down all the acts to receive "yes" votes during the audition phase to the 44 that will compete in the live shows. Terry Crews reveals the official list of those acts that will compete for America's vote beginning August 19. Watch One of the ‘Best Acts of the Season' on ‘America's Got Talent's Final Night of Auditions
Watch One of the 'Best Acts of the Season' on 'America's Got Talent's Final Night of Auditions originally appeared on Parade. It was just last week that the dance troupe Unreal from India won the final Golden Buzzer for Season 20 of America's Got Talent. And this week, a second dance crew from India, B Unique Crew, took the AGT stage – and one of its members was revealed to be a former dancer from Unreal. 'We know there was the Unreal crew, and you gave them a Golden Buzzer,' a spokesperson for B Unique Crew told Howie Mandel. 'And I would also like to tell you that G2 was part of Unreal before. And he left Unreal and gathered us all. And now we are here to present this act on the biggest stage, America's Got Talent.' 🤩📺SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter & get the scoop on the latest TV news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🤩🎥 The spokesperson explained that this group was created to compete against Unreal, and that they were going to give it their all even though they are aware that there are no Golden Buzzers left for Season 20. 'We will do our best and we believe in ourselves,' he says. After their performance, Sofia Vergara tells them, 'This was one of the best, best acts of the season. You are taking Season 20 to the other level that we were saying. This was spectacular. It was surprising. It was very different. I've never seen anything on this stage like this.' Mel B says she couldn't agree with Sofia more, adding, 'It was unique and that timing you have to have on point. The head turnaround was a bit freaky, but you could all dance. It was perfect for me.' Then Howie adds, 'I love this job more than anything, but I've been looking over at the producers thing, going, 'I want to press it [Golden Buzzer],' and they're going, 'No, you can't press it.' I'm going, 'I want to press it.' And the boss says 'no.'' Related: Sofia chimes in, 'No, you can't. Then I want to press it.' Meanwhile, the audience is chanting, 'Golden Buzzer. Golden Buzzer.' Sofia explained to the guys, 'We're fighting because we want to give you a Golden Buzzer and they don't exist anymore.' Simon Cowell interrupted her to say, 'I wouldn't [give them a Golden Buzzer]. I tell you why. I think it was good. However, I just think that at the moment it just felt a little bit too small. I do think, on a live show with bigger production, this could be incredible. That's my opinion.' Even with that opinion, when the votes were tallied, it was four yeses for B Unique Crew, giving them the opportunity to go through to the Live Shows. America's Got Talent airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Streams next day on Peacock. The Real Reason Why 'America's Got Talent' Is Not New Tonight
The Real Reason Why 'America's Got Talent' Is Not New Tonight originally appeared on Parade. The sixth night of auditions for America's Got Talent was originally scheduled to air tonight with judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara all set to make someone's dream come true by awarding them four yeses and an opportunity to go through to the Live Shows, or to be awarded a Golden Buzzer and be guaranteed a spot in the live shows. Each artist hopes their two minutes in front of the judges will change their lives. The reason that AGT is taking a one-week hiatus is the Fourth of July holiday. With a record-breaking 72.2 million Americans projected to travel at least 50 miles from home by planes, trains and automobiles, there aren't going to be that many eyes on the TV set, so NBC opted to postpone the next set of auditions until the audience is back at home. Season 20 has had an exciting turnout so far, with some unusual acts that have never before been seen on AGT. But also those that are so outstanding that the judges and host Terry Crews have awarded them a Golden Buzzer and a guarantee of performing for America in the Live Shows. 🎬 🎬 The following acts have received Golden Buzzers to date: Sofia selected the Ukrainian roller skating/aerial act Duo Stardust. Related: Terry was moved by The Funkateers, a four-man Detroit-based senior dance crew. Related: Mel B chose 49-year-old singer Charity Lockhart. Related: Mel B also went with the Messoudi Brothers – Karim and Soffien – who are back on AGT for the second time. The first was with a balancing act. But this time around, they developed a knife-throwing danger act. Related: Howie's choice was Jourdan Blue, a 23-year-old New Orleans street performer. Related: And Simon picked Light Wire, an immersive art creative content company from Brazil. Related: America's Got Talent will return on Tuesday, July 8 on NBC. Huge change to Britain's Got Talent after ‘absolutely wild' Blackpool shows which Simon Cowell ‘loved'
BRITAIN'S Got Talent gave us some of the most outrageous wannabes in the show's history last series – by taking the auditions out of London and up the road to Blackpool. Now, I can reveal the raucous crowds who made the early episodes so much fun have convinced Simon Cowell and producers to host try-outs in yet another major UK city. 3 In fact, as well as heading back to Blackpool this autumn seeking contestants for BGT 2026, I can reveal that auditions will also be held in Birmingham as show bosses turn their backs on the capital completely. A TV insider said: 'The audiences up north were absolutely wild, with some shouting at Simon and flicking him V-signs if he didn't make a decision they approved of. Then, hilariously, some of the people who had abused him would sidle up afterwards and ask for a selfie — and, of course, he duly obliged. 'Simon loved it, so when they were looking at what to do for the new series, they decided to try out another city further north that might provide some of the same dynamism.' Birmingham was the birthplace of huge ITV shows, including cult kids' favourite Tiswas and classic soap Crossroads. Britain's second city was the home of talent contest New Faces which helped launch the careers of stars including Joe Pasquale and Lenny Henry. The BGT live semi-finals and final will likely remain in London. Moving the auditions from the big smoke on a near permanent basis won't surprise other judges either. Talking of their sensational trip north for the 2024 auditions, Amanda Holden said this year: 'The audiences were super-warm and brilliantly up for it. The show felt really appreciated and wanted up there. 'I honestly think we won't go back to London for the auditions. I think we'll be going back to Blackpool all the time.' Well, it turns out you were half right Amanda . . . Amanda Holden appears NAKED on radio just days after Ofcom complaints over BGT dress Nick: Why The Traitors is magic 3 NICK MOHAMMED has revealed his Celebrity Traitors co-star Stephen Fry promises to be as witty as ever in the upcoming show. The Ted Lasso actor said Stephen used a Harry Potter term for non-magical people to refer to the non-celeb version of the hit show. He said: 'Stephen referred to it as the Muggle version which really made me laugh.' Nick added: 'I was allowed one phone conversation a day with the kids but you are isolated from the outside world – at one point we weren't even allowed to know the time. 'You'd be, 'What's the time?' They'd say, 'It's traitors' time'.' Filming has wrapped on the series – which will air this autumn – but Nick has kept in touch with his co-stars. He added: 'There's a WhatsApp group and we're all on it – it's phenomenal and every day there's about 50 notifications.' Nadiya's a sole survivor STRICTLY Come Dancing siren Nadiya Bychkova has revealed she has her entire body insured – and does foot-strengthening exercises to help her cope with wearing her favourite high heels. Nadiya told me: 'I do have things insured – everything I need for dancing. 'Dancing puts food on the table, so I need to make sure I am OK. I think it comes from when I was competing at the highest level. I do a lot of workouts for my feet. It's about building the muscles. You don't want to walk in heels and twist something or break something. 'As we get older, we need to look after ourselves even more. If you twist your ankle, then you're done.' Game on for Squid THE THIRD and final series of Squid Game landed on Friday but now its creator has hinted there could be more to come. The dystopian hit saw gambling addict Gi-hun join in a deadly game against other vulnerable people, enticed by recruiters. Writer Hwang Dong-Hyuk said: 'I had this faint ideation . . . not a sequel, but maybe a spin-off about the three-year gap between season 1 and season 2 when Gi-hun looks around for the recruiters. 'Maybe a portrayal of what the recruiters or Captain Park or officers or masked men were doing in that period, not inside the gaming arena, but their life outside of that.' C4 to air axed doc A CONTROVERSIAL documentary about medics allegedly coming under fire in Gaza will air on Channel 4 after the BBC axed it. Gaza: Doctors Under Attack looks at allegations that Israeli forces targeted hospitals and health workers in the Middle East conflict. The Beeb commissioned the film last year but shelved it, concerned it 'risked creating a perception of partiality'. Louisa Compton, Channel 4's head of news, said: 'We are showing this programme because we believe that, following thorough fact-checking, we are presenting a duly impartial view.' The one-off film will air on Wednesday at 10pm.
