The incident, which is being investigated by Thames Valley Police, happened at Hook Norton Brewery at about 7.57pm on Sunday, July 13. Managing director James Clarke said a few members of staff were 'enjoying the fruits of their labour' when a white van drove into the yard and around the back of the brewery. ADVERTISEMENT Upon looking at CCTV on his phone he saw a man 'helping himself' to scrap metal. "Two of us went to have a word, and a third staff member closed the yard barrier," said Mr Clarke. "After we told the man he should not be taking property, and best if he left, he drove off. "The yard barrier was still shut at this point, and he drove into it. "We then opened it, but before it was open wide enough, he drove into the barrier, damaging his van, and knocking a member of staff over." Wasserhund Brewing Co. is coming to Norfolk. The Virginia Beach brewery plans to open a location in the former District Apizza space on Granby Street in Norfolk's Railroad District this fall, according to a social media announcement. 'We're bringing our signature brews, artisan eats and a retro arcade twist to the Railroad District,' the announcement on Facebook reads. On Thursday, Wasserhund will apply for a conditional use permit before the Norfolk Planning Commission. The application calls for a 7,200-square-foot brewery and restaurant with arcade games and around 150 seats. Wasserhund currently has a Virginia Beach location in Hilltop and a Chesapeake location in Summit Pointe. It serves up German-inspired brews and a pizza-centric menu. Man (62) who died in Cork house fire named locally

A man who died in a house fire in Hollyhill on the northside of Cork city overnight has been named as master brewer, Peter Lyall, who was well respected in the drinks industry in the city. Mr Lyall (62) was pronounced dead at the scene after a blaze broke out at his home in Ardcullen estate in Hollyhill at around 12.45am on Monday. Advertisement Firefighters from Anglesea Street and Ballyvolane stations attended at the property. A woman managed to make her way out of the two storey terraced property. She was transferred by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening in nature. A postmortem examination will be carried out on the deceased at Cork University Hospital. A forensic examination of the scene will be carried out to establish the seat of the fire. Advertisement Mr Lyall was the master brewer at the prestigious Franciscan Well Brewery in Cork for over 20 years. Mary Crilly, CEO of the Sexual Violence Centre in Cork, who lives near the brewery said that the late Peter Lyall was the kindest of souls. 'He was working there (the Franciscan Well) for a long time. Then he moved (job) to (a location) on the Marina. He was a gorgeous person. I was mad about him. We moved in (by the well) around ten years ago and we were renovating a house there and I got to know him fairly early. Because if I needed someone to lift something Peter would be there. He was just lovely. Advertisement He would be there in a blink (of an eye) to do something for you. The well would have done a bit of fundraising (for the Sexual Violence Centre) and anything we wanted Peter was behind us. He was very special. "I am gutted about him because we were fond of him.' Meanwhile, a neighbour in Hollyhill described Mr Lyall as being 'a lovely chap, a big friendly guy' who will be much missed in the area. An inquest will be held in due course. Funeral arrangements have as yet to be finalised for Mr Lyall.

Commemorative Banks's beer a 'thank you' to city

The makers of Banks's beers have said a specially-brewed IPA will be a "fitting tribute that honour the brewery's legacy". Its brewery in Wolverhampton will cease operations in the autumn, after 150 years, with production moving to Burton-upon-Trent. Carlsberg Britvic said its Sesquicentennial IPA would be available exclusively at the Wolverhampton Beer Festival from 24 to 26 July. Julie Gale, senior production manager at Banks's, said: "This is a thank you to our drinkers, publicans, fellow brewers, our amazing, dedicated team at Banks's and everyone who's supported the brewery over the years." Banks's Brewery opened in 1875, but last October the Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company announced it would close as part of a company restructuring. The brewery has had a close relationship with Camra's Wolverhampton Beer Festival since it started in 1977 and has a history of supplying limited-edition beers. It described the anniversary beer as "dry hopped with Ahtanum, from Washington State, USA, and the new English variety, Opus, the beer has a bold floral aroma, with vivid flavours of orange and grapefruit citrus along with fragrant elderflower and subtle herbal hints." Ms Gale, who led the team brewing the Sesquicentennial IPA, said Banks's beers had "become a symbol of craft, heritage and local pride". She added: "We're incredibly proud of what this brewery has stood for over the past 150 years, and we couldn't think of a better stage than the Wolverhampton Beer Festival to share this beer with the community." Carlsberg Britvic also said it was working with local stakeholders to preserve items from the brewery. They include the brewing ledgers, which will be entrusted to the Wolverhampton Archives, along with other documents. Follow BBC Wolverhampton & Black Country on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X and Instagram.
