Ditch denim shorts for Kate Middleton's go-to this summer – you can grab a pair in Asda for £14
WITH summer upon us, ditching trousers in favour of shorts is often the most tempting option.
However, if restrictive denim shorts don't seem appealing, there is a refined alternative - one that has earned the approval of none other than the Princess of Wales herself.

Princess Kate, 43, doesn't often wear shorts, but when she does she is unsurprisingly the picture of elegance.
One of her favourite types are chino shorts, which are both comfortable as well as stylish.
We saw the future Queen wear a dusty green pair in The Bahamas during her and Prince William's Caribbean Tour, as they took part in a sailing regatta.
The shorts were clearly perfect for the practical activity, being lightweight and breathable, but also looked chic with their streamlined shape and high-waist.
Kate also demonstrated how they can look smart, by dressing them up with a sleek belt.
Thankfully the royal-approved chino shorts trend doesn't have to break the bank.
Asda currently has a pair in a khaki colour similar to Kate's, and they cost just £14.
The chino shorts come in sizes eight to 24, and currently have five-star reviews.
The shorts have two side pockets, with two mock back pockets behind.
They also have a turned up hem, and loops, should you wish to take style notes from Kate and add a belt.
Princess Kate bounces into the Royal Box on Centre Court to cheering crowds as she watches the Wimbledon women's final
We previously saw Kate showcasing her sea legs in a pair of navy blue shorts as she went head to head with Prince William at the King's Cup event.
Appearing on the royal documentary Meghan and Harry: A Royal Baby Story, royal journalist Ashley Pearson revealed that Kate Middleton can be restricted in what she wears.
Commenting on Kate's unique position in the Royal Family (and how this plays into her fashion choices), Ashley said: "Kate Middleton has a whole other set of rules and restrictions because she's going to be Queen.
"She and Meghan are not on the same page. Kate Middleton has to wear her skirts a certain length."

Kate Middleton's down-to-earth school run look
Whilst we have previously seen stunning images of Kate dropping the children off at Lambrook School, it turns out, on a day-to-day basis, things are much less glossy than you may imagine.
A friend told the Daily Record: "There are no blow-dries - it's always hair up in a ponytail.
"She's either in her gym clothes, or a dress and sneakers, very little makeup, apologising as she's late for the school run before dashing off.
'It's the life of a working mum with three young children - just a different sort of day job to most."
In fact, when George and Charlotte attended their previous school of St Thomas' in South London, it was reported that parents barely gave Kate a second glance during drop off and pick ups.
One parent told the Daily Mail: "No one really gives Kate a second glance when she does the school drop-off.
"We have a Victoria's Secret model doing the school run, too, and the dads are far more interested in her."
