Four arrests after protest disorder in Scarva
Four men have been arrested after minor disorder associated with a protest held in Main Street in Scarva, in County Down. It is understood to have involved an unnotified counter-protest opposing a pro-Palestine march going from Lurgan to Newry on Saturday. Three men were also cautioned in relation to public order offences at the towpath between Portadown and Newry, also understood to be an unnotified counter-protest. By law those organising a protest against a public procession must notify the Parades Commission not less than 14 days before the date on which the parade is to be held. Supt Norman Haslett, who was responsible for the policing operation, said footage will now be reviewed and they will "consider any potential offences". In Newry, police said a flag, believed to be associated with a proscribed terrorist organisation was removed from a parade participant by police and this is subject to an ongoing police investigation. Supt Haslett said it was an "appropriate and proportionate policing operation to ensure that the safety of everyone involved was maintained and that the law was upheld".

Arrests amid 'deportation' demo and counter-rally
Four people have been arrested during protests in Bristol city centre. About 50 people are attending a UK Independence Party (UKIP) demo calling for "mass deportations", while about 500 people are making counter-protests. Police vans and horses are in the area around the Cenotaph, with a large number of police officers creating a cordon. Avon and Somerset Police said one man had been arrested on suspicion of assault, a second man on suspicion of theft and two women on suspicion of breaching the peace. The vast majority of people are countering UKIP's "mass deportations march", at which the leader of the party was due to speak. Both groups have been held separately from one another by a significant number of police, and loud chants can be heard from either side. With the demonstration under way in the heart of the city, Bristol's neighbourhood policing team said in a social media post on Saturday morning that it was "aware of demonstrations taking place" which "may impact popular travel routes". A police spokeswoman said: "Overall, both groups have been calm and engaging with police, however we have seen a handful of clashes between the two sides, which officers have dealt with quickly." She added: "The counter-protest gathered at the Cenotaph at around 11.30am, and the UKIP demonstrators based themselves a short distance away at around 1pm. "St Augustine's Parade and Colston Avenue remain closed as a safety precaution, and we are advising motorists to seek an alternative route." Follow BBC Bristol on Facebook, X and Instagram.
