AOC gets death threats and has HQ vandalized by anti-Israel supporters
New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has received multiple death threats and her head office was vandalized by anti-Israel supporters over the weekend. Ocasio-Cortez 's Bronx office was smeared in red paint Sunday and activists placed a placard on the building that read: 'AOC FUNDS GENOCIDE IN GAZA,' her campaign office said. 'Last night, our campaign office in the Bronx was vandalized and we are in the process of cleaning it up,' said campaign manager Oliver Hidalgo-Wohlleben in a post on X. 'In the past few days, we also have received multiple threats on the Congresswoman's life and we are treating this seriously with our security partners to make sure she, our staff, and volunteers are safe.' The New York Police Department said the incident was under investigation and no arrests have been made. The vandalism came days after Ocasio-Cortez voted against an amendment put forward by Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Friday that would have stripped $500 million in funding for Israel's missile defense systems. Ocasio-Cortez has been a consistent voice against Israel's military offensive in Gaza and criticized Greene's amendment for doing 'nothing to cut off offensive aid to Israel nor end the flow of U.S. munitions' in the war-torn region. 'What it does do is cut off defensive Iron Dome capacities while allowing the actual bombs killing Palestinians to continue,' Ocasio-Cortez added. The Democratic Socialists of America condemned the congresswoman's vote in a statement released Friday. 'The fact that Representative Ocasio-Cortez acknowledges that Israel is carrying out this genocide makes her support for military aid all the more disappointing and incongruous,' the group said. 'We urge the representative to continue voting against the Iron Dome, whether it is part of a larger defense spending bill or as a stand-alone bill.' Democratic strategist Waleed Shahid was among those who came to Ocasio-Cortez's defense. 'She has one of the strongest pro-Palestinian voting records in Congress. It's fair to debate strategy and disagreement over specific choices–but vandalizing her office and saying @AOC 'funds genocide' isn't just wrong,' Shahid wrote in a post on X. 'It's reckless, dishonest, misleading, and deeply unserious.'

Denise Richards Alleges Estranged Husband 'Threatened to Kill' Her, Granted Temporary Restraining Order
Denise Richards has accused her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, of domestic abuse and death threats, among more allegations. Richards was granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Phypers on Wednesday and shared details of the physical assault and photos, according to People. More from The Hollywood Reporter Denise Richards Stayed Quiet About Sexual Harassment Over Fear of Being "Blacklisted" Denise Richards, NeNe Leakes to Star in Lifetime Movie 'Hunting Housewives' Old Press Conference Transcripts Shed Light on HFPA Behavior Claims 'Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack, threaten to kill me, hold me down with his knee on my back to the point where I would have to plead with him to get off me so that he would not kill me and hack into my laptop and phone and download all of my text messages,' Richards alleges in her report. 'Aaron regularly threatened to 'break my jaw' and would cry, beg me to stay and promise to get help — none of which ever happened.' The Wild Things actress also claims that 'throughout our marriage, Aaron threatened to kill me and himself and the police,' and that he 'owns at least eight unregistered guns.' The Hollywood Reporter reached out to Richards' rep for comment. Following six years of marriage, Phypers filed for divorce from Richards on July 7 citing irreconcilable differences. A few days later, it was reported that Richards' Bravo series, Denise Richards & Her Wild Things, would not return for another season. Richards said she was hesitant to come forward with what she went through due to his threats. 'He has repeatedly threatened to kill himself and me if I reported him to the police, among his other threats of harm to me and himself if he is reported for his abuse to anyone,' she said in the court documents obtained by People. She added that he 'threatened that I would 'disappear' if I called the police' and 'repeatedly abused' her throughout their marriage. On July 4, she claimed Phypers was 'within two inches of my face' and 'screamed degrading profanities.' He also 'grabbed both of my arms forcefully and pushed me and dragged me to the ground. I landed hard on the stairs causing me immense pain.' After the news of Richards' allegations broke, Phypers shared a statement with People, which reads: 'I want to address recent rumors and speculation that have surfaced regarding my relationship with my wife, Denise Richards. Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone. These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful. Denise and I, like many couples, have faced our share of challenges, but any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue. I have always tried to approach our marriage with love, patience and respect. I ask for privacy as we navigate personal matters, and I hope that the public and media will refrain from spreading harmful and baseless claims.' A court hearing for the restraining order is scheduled for Aug. 8. Voice of America employee charged with threatening to kill Marjorie Taylor Greene
A Voice of America (VOA) employee has been charged with threatening to kill Marjorie Taylor Greene. Seth Jason, who was employed by the US' largest international broadcaster for more than two decades, faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted, after allegedly making death threats against the firebrand Republican congresswoman. Mr Jason, from Edgewater, Maryland, has been indicted on four charges which include influencing a federal official by threat, and was due to appear before a judge on Thursday. He was arrested by US Capitol police after an investigation traced phone calls made to Ms Greene's offices in Georgia from the Voice of America headquarters in Washington DC. In eight calls, Mr Jason is alleged to have threatened to use a gun to kill Ms Greene, her staff and their families between Oct 11 2023 and Jan 21 2025, the day after Donald Trump returned to office. He also allegedly threatened to kidnap and injure the Georgia congresswoman. 'No mercy and no excuses' Jeanine Pirro, the interim US attorney for the District of Columbia, said in a statement: 'You threaten a public official and you face the full force of the law crushing down on you. 'There will be no mercy and no excuses.' According to LinkedIn, Mr Jason began his career at VOA in 2001, working as a gaffer, studio supervisor and lighting director. Kari Lake, the senior adviser for the US agency for global media, to which VOA belongs, has gutted the broadcaster since her appointment earlier this year, instituting mass lay-offs. 'I am sickened by what Congresswoman [Marjorie Taylor Greene], her staff and their families had to go through as the threats persisted for 15 months,' Ms Lake said in a statement on social media. 'It angers me that a taxpayer-funded VOA employee, would use taxpayer-funded equipment in a depraved way to threaten the lives of people, including an elected official. If he is found guilty, I hope he is sentenced to the maximum amount of time behind bars.' Last month, hundreds of VOA reporters were sacked by the Trump administration, which claimed it was because the broadcaster was 'riddled with dysfunction, bias and waste', depriving it of most of its remaining staff and effectively shutting it down.
