Oakland County construction closures at 12 Mile and Inkster moving into next phase

The north half of the 12 Mile Road and Inkster Road intersection is ready to reopen, the Road Commission for Oakland County announced Tuesday. The south half, however, will close early in September to continue a reconstruction of the intersection. In this ongoing 12 Mile Road resurfacing project from Inkster Road to Autumn Ridge, eastbound 12 Mile Road will be closed to traffic from Middlebelt Road to Inkster Road. During the south closure, there will be a detour from 12 Mile Road to Middlebelt Road south to 11 Mile Road, back to Inkster Road. Those who are traveling northbound will be detoured from Inkster Road to 11 Mile Road to Middlebelt Road to 13 Mile Road, to Northwestern Highway and back to Inkster Road. Westbound 12 Mile Road from Inkster Road to Middlebelt Road will remain open. However, the westbound traffic coming from the east will not be able to turn left onto Inkster Road to go south. 12 Mile Road will also be inaccessible to Inkster Road traffic coming south of the intersection. Southbound Inkster Road drivers will be able to turn eastbound or westbound on 12 Mile Road during the work. The entire project is estimated to be finished by October. The 12 Mile Road and Inkster Road intersection sees a traffic count of about 26,000 vehicles a day. A recap of the project is at the Road Commission for Oakland County website.

Northeast Calgary residents struggle with pothole-filled construction detour

Drivers trying to get past an industrial park in northeast Calgary are having a rough ride on the detour. A road leading into a northeast Calgary industrial park, the only access into the area, is filled with potholes and residents are looking to the city to do something about it. Beaver Dam Road N.E., located north of McKnight Boulevard and west of Deerfoot Trail in the community of Skyline West, is riddled with potholes, forcing drivers to slow down. Residents say it's the only way in or out of the area because the regular route – Goddard Avenue N.E. – is shut down due to construction. The road isn't paved and residents say it's been in poor condition for years. Northeast Calgary residents struggle with pothole-filled construction detour They've called on the city to bring in a grader to level out the road while construction continues. The city is rehabilitating the bridge and conducting flood mitigation work on Goddard Avenue N.E. The work is expected to be completed by Aug. 7.

Traffic Diversions Unveiled for Dubai Harbour Bridge Project

If you're cruising through Dubai this week, here's a heads-up: starting Sunday, July 13, a new traffic diversion will be in place at the intersection of King Salman Street and the road leading to Dubai Harbour, as major bridge construction works begin. According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the detours are necessary to facilitate the construction of the new bridge that will connect directly to Dubai Harbour. The traffic changes will remain in effect until the project is completed, although no end date has been announced just yet. So, what's changing? If you're driving from the Dubai Marina area toward Jumeirah or Dubai Harbour, expect closures on some main roads and left-turn lanes along King Salman Street. Instead, motorists will be rerouted through the following alternate path: Al Marsa Street Al Khayay Street Al Naseem Street Then back onto King Salman Street The RTA is urging all drivers to plan their routes in advance, leave early to avoid potential delays, and of course, follow all posted signs and traffic instructions. With peak summer heat and roadworks colliding, your best move might be checking Google Maps before hitting the road—or just carpool with that friend who knows all the back routes. #RTA — RTA (@rta_dubai) July 12, 2025
