Irish Central Bank Cuts Economic Forecast Again on Heightened Uncertainty
Ireland 's central bank revised down its economic outlook for the second time in a row as heightened geopolitical uncertainty weighs on the small, open economy. Modified domestic demand — a more accurate measure of Irish growth than gross domestic product — is now forecast to grow by 2% in 2025 and 2.1% on average in 2026, according to the Central Bank of Ireland's quarterly economic bulletin.

China's Wheat Harvest Risks 7-Year Low as Farmers Battle Drought
China's wheat output could drop as much as 5% this year to the lowest since 2018, after recent drought in key growing regions stressed the crop. Although that would be a sizeable decline from last year's record haul of 140 million tons, ample stockpiles and relatively weak domestic demand are likely to cushion the impact and prevent a supply shock. Still, it would be an unwelcome development for a government focused heavily on food security, and could force a rethink on imports.

South Korean Think Tank Halves 2025 Growth Forecast
South Korea's state-run think tank halved its growth forecast for the country this year, citing higher U.S. tariffs as a major downside risk to the export-led economy. Global trade conditions have deteriorated after the Trump administration raised duties on imports sharply in April, the Korea Development Institute said Wednesday. The recovery in South Korea's domestic demand has also remained weak, it said.
