Justin Bieber sparks fresh concern over wellbeing with ‘clean man' post
Justin Bieber has sparked fresh concern over his wellbeing after reposting a clip rejecting the idea of living life as a 'clean man'. The 31-year-old pop star shared the video to his Instagram Stories amid ongoing speculation about his alleged drug use, with the footage featuring a moment from rapper DMX's 2013 appearance on the US talk show Iyanla, Fix My Life, in which the late performer — whose real name was Earl Simmons — dismissed the idea of complete sobriety. In the clip, host Iyanla Vanzant, 71, asks DMX if he wants to 'live his life as a clean man'. DMX responds: 'When you say clean – no weed? No drinking? Nothing?' Vanzant replies: 'Nothing. You need to be a clear, pure vessel for the voice of God.' The rapper answers: 'I think I'm exactly where I need to be with God.' DMX died in April 2021 at the age of 50 after suffering a cocaine-induced heart attack. The video, originally broadcast more than a decade ago, has resurfaced after being reshared by Justin without comment – a move that has drawn criticism and concern from fans. The repost comes as speculation continues to swirl online about Justin's own alleged drug use, with some social media users noting his increasingly erratic public appearances and behaviour. In February, a representative for Justin denied what they described as 'harmful' allegations about the singer, telling TMZ: 'Despite the obvious truth, people are committed to keeping negative, salacious, harmful narratives alive.' The spokesperson added Justin had been in a 'good place' with his wife, Hailey Bieber, 27, following the birth of their son, Jack Blues, in August 2024. They also said 2024 had been 'very transformative' for the singer, explaining he had ended 'several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him'. Despite the reassurances, Justin has continued to share photos of himself smoking – including while snowboarding and at Coachella - and recently posted sweat-drenched selfies that he captioned as part of a detox, though without further explanation. Fans took to Instagram to comment on the latest post, with one writing: 'Stay healthy and happy,' while another added: 'Keep pushing.'

Justin Bieber hints at drug use in one of his latest social media posts
used Instagram to make an indirect statement about drug use. On Sunday the 31-year-old pop star — who could be going on tour soon — shared a video featuring the late rapper DMX in a conversation with Iyanla Vanzant, during which he said he did not want to be sober. In the excerpt, taken from a 2013 episode of Iyanla: Fix My Life, Vanzant asked DMX if he wanted to 'live your life as a clean man,' to which he gave a defiant answer. 'No weed, no drinking, nothing?' he shot back before asking, 'Why would I?' 'Because it makes you a clear, pure vessel for the voice of god,' Vanzant reasoned before DMX replied, 'I think I'm exactly where I need to be with god.' Bieber didn't offer any addition context or a personal statement about the tidbit, which he reposted from the Los Angeles-based weed dispensary account Gassy. He has been outspoken about his faith in god throughout the years, and his ongoing close relationship with his Churchome pastor Judah Smith. The father-of-one — who shares nearly one-year-old son Jack Blues Bieber with wife Hailey Bieber — has also not shied away from publicly posting social media photos with bongs. Recreational marijuana use is legal in California, where the singer resides with his family. While fans have expressed concern for Justin's health this year, a representative for the Swag music artist denied he is engaging in any illegal drug use. 'The recurring narrative that Justin is using hard drugs is absolutely not true,' his rep told TMZ in February, adding that his client is actually 'in one of the best places in his life.' It was added at the time that he was focused on 'actively parenting his newborn son' and working on new music. Bieber's rep also explained that the Canadian-born star had endured a 'very transformative' past year, in which 'he ended several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by GASSY (@gassy) Bieber released his surprise seventh studio album, Swag, to critical acclaim on July 11. Several songs make mention of his public persona, personal struggles, and his commitment to his wife Hailey and their baby son. There is also a theme of interludes featuring comedian Druski, during which Justin engages in candid 'therapy sessions' with the social media star. Now, there are rumors that the music sensation will tour Australia following the successful album release. Justin has not yet confirmed whether he will be touring the album, nor has Frontier Touring, who told Rolling Stone it had no information on any potential Australian tour dates. The hitmaker previously cancelled his Justice world tour in 2022 for health reasons.

Cocaine users are now older, better educated and more likely to be working
People accessing treatment for drug use are older, have a higher level of education and are more likely to be in employment than they were seven years ago, according to a new report published by the Department of Health . On Monday, the department will publish an independent evaluation of the National Drugs Strategy, which sought to treat drug use and addiction with a health-led approach. According to the report, which was conducted by Grant Thornton, there is a changing demographic of drug users in Ireland. The median age of those in treatment increased from 30 in 2017 to 34 years in 2024, the report said, while the proportion of all cases in paid employment increased from 14.3 per cent in 2017 to 21.8 per cent in 2024. READ MORE The proportion of cases who ceased education for the first time before the age of 16 decreased from 34.9 per cent in 2017 to 30.3 per cent in 2024. In 2024, 13,295 cases were treated, the highest annual figure to date, representing a 48 per cent increase since 2017. Cocaine surpassed opioids as the main problem drug reported by people seeking treatment, according to the review. In terms of overall drug prevalence, the proportion of adults who used drugs within the last year has remained stable at 7.3 per cent. The most commonly used drugs in the previous 12 months in order of prevalence were: cannabis, cocaine, ecstasy, magic mushrooms and ketamine. Males and young people aged 15-24 years were most likely to use drugs over the past year. Higher rates of drug use were associated with being unemployed, having completed secondary level education only, being single and being Irish. The review of the Government's strategy was largely positive, highlighting how its implementation has improved data collection, expanded harm-reduction initiatives and allowed for Ireland to contribute to international research and co-operation. However, the report also highlights a number of challenges within the sector. There are disparities in access to harm-reduction services, particularly in rural areas and among marginalised groups, the report said. [ Ireland is becoming a country of moderate drinkers and voracious cocaine users Opens in new window ] Additionally, declining pharmacy engagement threatens the sustainability of needle exchange services, it added. The review team made 10 recommendations to overcome these challenges and guide 'the next phase of strategic development'. Minister of State Jennifer Murnane O'Connor, with responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy, said Ireland has 'made significant progress' in this area. 'I welcome the strong endorsement in the evaluation of the health-led response to drug use, including the proposed health diversion scheme for people found in possession of drugs for personal use,' she said. Ms Murnane O'Connor said there is a need to 'move forward with new policies and better services to address the ever-changing drugs situation'. As such, she has established a steering group to prepare a new national drugs strategy, with a deadline of the end of this year. [ Six months ago, he started taking cocaine in a more dedicated way. North Texas man gets 5½ years for fatal shooting of roommate while on hallucinogenic mushrooms
A North Texas man who fatally shot his roommate while under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison, according to federal prosecutors. Senior U.S. District Judge Barbara M. G. Lynn sentenced 25-year-old Russell Alan Ragsdale on Thursday. Ragsdale pleaded guilty in April to possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance, after originally being arrested and charged with murder on Feb. 3, 2022, in Seagoville. The judge sentenced him to 66 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas said in a release Friday. At the time of his arrest, Ragsdale claimed self-defense, telling officers he was attacked and "shot him many times." Officers recovered three firearms, including a 10mm Glock and an AR-15 rifle, along with nearly two grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, prosecutors said. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, phone data showed a history of drug use dating back to November 2021, including evidence that Ragsdale purchased and used hallucinogenic mushrooms the day before the shooting. Ragsdale, who had been in federal custody since Nov. 22, 2024, admitted to being intoxicated on mushrooms while possessing a 10mm Glock as part of his guilty plea. At sentencing, the judge said she found insufficient evidence to support Ragsdale's self-defense claim. Ragsdale remains in custody awaiting transfer to the federal Bureau of Prisons, prosecutors said. The investigation was led by the FBI Dallas Field Office and Dallas Police Department, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Seagoville police, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
