EastEnders fans left in tears as Linda Carter says goodbye in 'end of an era'
EastEnders fans were left feeling tearful watching last night's episode, as Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) left the Queen Vic pub. Linda chose to put the boozer up for auction as she became ready to start a new chapter in her life. The Carter family has lived in the pub since 2013 and have faced a multitude of dramatic ordeals since then. In recent years, Linda has dealt with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) getting lost at sea, murdering Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), covering up his death with The Six and earlier this year, the pub exploded as a result of Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) crashing his car into the side of the building. And that's not even the half of it! It's no surprise that Linda wants to start again. In the instalment that aired last night, she handed the keys over to Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), who became the new owner as a result of Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) gaining access to Martin Fowler's (James Bye) life insurance. To get her head around the change, Linda decided to temporarily leave Walford. Having been handed tickets for a cruise from mum Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), she packed her belongings and waved goodbye to Albert Square. The scenes marked a massive end of an era, and fans of the BBC One soap were incredibly moved watching Linda depart. Taking to social media platform X, this fan said: 'Truly the end of an era, just glad that this time it's a decision that's been made on her terms and she's been allowed to say a proper goodbye to the old place and that next chapter of linda carter is going to be sublime, i can feel it #eastenders.' This audience member reflected on the 12 years Linda lived in the pub and wrote: 'Twelve PHENOMENAL years of having Linda Carter as landlady has come to an end. Kellie has been a powerhouse since joining the show and embodied the landlady role to perfection. 'Going to miss Linda front and centre in the Vic but excited to see what she moves onto next.' Another wrote: 'Still blows my mind that Linda first took over the pub nearly 12 (!!!) years ago, where has the time gone #EastEnders.' EastEnders star speaks out on grandmother assumptions as she shows weight loss
Lorraine Stanley, known for playing Karen Taylor on EastEnders, was met with reaction after sharing a video of the BBC soap star dancing with her daughter Nancy Former EastEnders cast member Lorraine Stanley has addressed the suggestion that she's a grandparent. It comes after she was met with reaction from fans on TikTok after posting a video of herself dancing alongside her daughter. Lorraine, 48, who played Karen Taylor on the BBC soap, and her fiancé Mark Perez are parents to Nancy, nine, together. She occassionally features in videos shared by the actor on the platform, with the mother and daughter often taking on dance trends at home together. The latest, uploaded last week, saw Lorraine and Nancy perform a choreographed routine to Maroon 5 and SZA 's song What Lovers Do. Lorraine wrote in the caption: "It's been a while!" She included hashtags like #motherdaughter. It's attracted more than 40,000 likes and fans reacted to the video in the comments section. The reaction included the suggestion that Nancy was Lorraine's granddaughter, which led the former soap star to assert that wasn't the case. One asked: "Is that your granddaughter?" Alongside an emoji depicting a face with rolling eyes, Lorraine replied to them: "Daughter." In another reply, beside a laughing emoj, she wrote: "Daughter #motherdaughter is a bit of a clue." Someone else wrote in the comments section just days ago: "Nothing better than seeing a grandparent have that kind of fun with their grandchild." Seemingly amused by it, Lorraine replied by sharing a trio of laughing emojis. Lorraine - whose five stone weight loss in recent years has continued to attract attention - was also met with praise over her apppearance. It included her receiving compliments from a former colleague from EastEnders. Shona McGarty, 33, who played Whitney Dean on the soap opera, wrote in the comments section: "Lou! Love this." She added: "You look great!" Lorraine shared her appreciation by replying to Shona: "Thank you mate!!!! Lots of love." One fan wrote: "You look incredible!! Look how happy your daughter is to be doing the dances with you too. So lovely." Another said: "You look fantastic you were always my favourite on eastenders you were so funny." Another said: "Oh how cute is this! & the smiles from both of you say it all. looking wonderful you have an amazing summer." Someone wrote: "You look great! Glad you're happy and enjoying dancing with your family." Several fans asked Lorraine about her weight loss. It comes after she revealed in a post on TikTok back in April that she had gastric sleeve surgery. Lorraine suggested at the time that it took place towards the start of 2023. Alongside photos of her from different stages of the experience, she told her followers: "It's been over two years since I started my journey. Lots of you are asking how I did it.I hope you enjoy my little weight loss journey video." Lorraine gave further details in the comments section at the time. She told one fan: "I was slightly embarrassed to tell the world I'd had surgery." She also said: "I wish I could say it was [through diet], but I did have to change my diet & still have to work hard to eat the right stuff to maintain it."

EastEnders star leaves fans in hysterics with accidental accent slip
EastEnders viewers found it funny that Kat Slater's accent changed midway through a conversation with her son Tony EastEnders fans were left in stitches this week after Kat Slater appeared to momentarily slip into a northern accent. Jessie Wallace, who has played the character since 2000, delivered one line in an unusual voice recently and viewers were quick to pick up on it. The moment came during an exchange with Kat's troublesome teenage son, Tommy (Sonny Kendall), who cheekily told his mum: "Chill out, love." In response, she shot back: "Love?" Eagle-eyed viewers swore the word came out sounding suspiciously northern, prompting a flood of amused comments on X. One fan wrote: "Absolutely obsessed with Kat going northern # EastEnders." Another joked: "No because why did she do this, he didn't even say it like that LMFAOOO." A third viewer observed: "I thought it was a really odd way to repeat the word. He's not northern, she isn't. Cute though." And a fourth quipped: "Pat Phoenix's spirit returning to Jessie Wallace for a split second in 2025 #EastEnders." That last comment referred to Wallace's portrayal of Coronation Street legend Pat Phoenix in the 2010 TV film The Road to Coronation Street, which chronicled the origins of the rival ITV soap. The light-hearted moment comes in the middle of a very dramatic week in Walford. Just days ago, fans were stunned when Zoe Slater reappeared in Walford. Zoe is Kat's estranged daughter, and hasn't been seen on screen for nearly 20 years. Michelle Ryan has reprised her role as Zoe after the character was last seen leaving for Ibiza in 2005. Her return follows one of EastEnders' most unforgettable storylines, as it was revealed that Kat became Zoe's biological mother after she was assaulted by her uncle Harry at the age of 13. When Zoe was last featured in the soap her time in Walford was packed with controversy, including a faked pregnancy, a twisted love triangle with Dennis Rickman, and her involvement in the death of Dirty Den, which she mistakenly believed she caused. Now two decades later Zoe is back, but she's going through a desperate time and is deep in debt after stealing Kat's credit card. The episode where she returned to Walford ended with Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), fresh from marrying Kat, coming face to face with his stepdaughter and saying: "Hello Zoe." Fans erupted online, with one exclaiming: "ZOE BLOODY SLATER #EastEnders." Another wrote: "ZOE YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO YOU AIN'T MY MOTHER SLATER IS BACK! #eastenders." Michelle Ryan has spoken about her return to the soap, saying: "It all happened at the right time. I'd already been thinking about a return because I'd met up with Kacey Ainsworth (Little Mo) and Kim Medcalf (Sam Mitchell) and we were reminiscing our fond memories of the show, and I'd also joined social media and saw that there was still a lot of love for the character. "It just so happened that at the same time, EastEnders had announced a new Exec who was keen to explore the potential of a return as he was such a massive fan of Zoe and the Slaters, so both of our worlds aligned at the right time, and I'm so excited to be back. "When Ben pitched me the storylines, and when I read the scripts, I knew it was the right decision."

BBC EastEnders Zoe Slater returns after 20 years as fans are left thrilled
EastEnders viewers were left in disbelief as Michelle Ryan made her first appearance in Albert Square in 20 years, reprising her role as Zoe Slater after weeks of speculation EastEnders fans were left stunned following tonight's show on Monday, June 16 as Zoe Slater graced the screen for the first time in two decades. After weeks of speculation, it's now confirmed that Michelle Ryan has reprised her role as Kat Slater's daughter. It marks her first appearance since departing Albert Square back in 2005. In one of EastEnders most riveting storylines, Zoe Slater's life was thrown into turmoil when she discovered that her 'sister' Kat (portrayed by Jessie Wallace) was actually her biological mum This was a result of Kat being assaulted by her uncle Harry at just 13 years old. The plot which played out on the BBC soap took another twist in 2015 with the revelation that Kat had given birth to twins, indicating that Zoe has a twin brother. Zoe was last spotted in Walford in 2005 before jetting off to Ibiza. Her final dramatic scenes on the Square saw her sleeping with Dirty Den to feign a pregnancy with his son Dennis Rickman's child and conspiring with Chrissie Watts and Sam Mitchell to seek revenge against Den for his misdeeds, mistakenly believing she had killed him. It later emerged that Zoe wasn't Den's killer and that it was actually Chrissie who was the guilty party, leading to her being slammed behind bars while Zoe departed for sunnier shores, reports the Mirror. Fast forward twenty years, and Zoe made a sensational comeback to EastEnders, leaving viewers stunned as she appeared dishevelled after using Kat's credit card for a shopping spree. In a moment of sheer desperation, Stacey Slater (played by Lacey Turner) found herself seeking the aid of Alfie Moon (Shane Ritchie), who had just married Kat yet willingly returned to his stepfather duties. The episode culminated with Alfie extending a forlorn welcome to Zoe as she made her return, uttering a desolate: "Hello Zoe." The twist set social media ablaze as soaps enthusiasts at home couldn't contain their excitement. One Twitter user announced: "ZOE BLOODY SLATER #EastEnders." Another shared their elation with a tweet: "ZOE YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO YOU AIN'T MY MOTHER SLATER IS BACK! #eastenders," while another expressed disbelief: "An actual Zoe Slater return i can't believe my eyes #EastEnders." Yet, not everyone was caught off-guard by Zoe's reappearance. Tweets reflecting less surprise also surfaced: "Such a shame Zoe's return was leaked- imagine the shock we would have got #EastEnders," and its sentiment echoed by another: "Me acting shocked when Zoe Slater turns up even though her return got leaked weeks ago #EastEnders." Looking back at her decision to return to Albert Square, actress Michelle reflected on her return: "It all happened at the right time. When Ben pitched me the storylines, and when I read the scripts, I knew it was the right decision." The show's producers have hinted that Zoe will make her comeback bearing 20 years' worth of "deep-rooted resentment" towards her mum, strained family ties, and siblings she has yet to meet. They added that the character is set for quite the rollercoaster ride upon her return. Michelle, while discussing Zoe's upcoming storyline in Albert Square, intriguingly noted: "I can't say too much as there is a lot of drama to come, but Zoe is a mess. She's not the girl that left Walford twenty years ago, and she's been really struggling on her own. She has her defences up, but this week you will see that she needs help, but whether she is willing to accept it is another story."
