Lethbridge police say the bust was the result of a drug-trafficking investigation involving a home in the 600 block of 10 Street North. On May 28, police executed a search warrant at the property, finding 3.6 kilograms of cocaine, more than 1,600 MDMA (ecstasy) tablets, 46 grams of ketamine, 425 grams of Psilocybin, 16,000 black stock cigarettes, six kilograms of cannabis, 500 cartridges of cannabis extract and $16,000 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime. Police also found other drugs, including methamphetamine and cannabis and tobacco products during a secondary search. A man was arrested at the home. At about the same time, police located a vehicle whose driver was 'engaged in activity consistent with drug trafficking' and stopped it in the 1100 block of 19 Street South. Bradshaw Jerome Balog, 37, and Aspen Michayla Woodman, 26, are both facing multiple drug possession and trafficking offences. Only drink one glass of wine a year, says researcher
Prof Nutt is a neuropsychopharmacologist and the chairman of the discipline at Imperial College London, as well as a former government drugs adviser. He clashed with Jacqui Smith, the then home secretary, after comparing the 100 deaths a year from horse riding with the 30 deaths a year linked to ecstasy. His advisory committee had recommended that cannabis should not be reclassified from Class C back to Class B, leading to heavier penalties, but the recommendation was not taken on board by Ms Smith. Prof Nutt said there was a 'relatively small risk' of psychotic illness linked to cannabis use, but that to prevent one episode of schizophrenia, it would be necessary to 'stop 5,000 men aged 20 to 25 from ever using' cannabis. He also supported reclassifying ecstasy from a Class A to Class B. He has been outspoken about the harms of alcohol but has also helped his daughter open a wine bar and admitted that he enjoys a tipple on weekends and special occasions. Mixed advice on alcohol consumption Advice on alcohol consumption, and the health benefits and risks of drinking wine in particular, has often been mixed. One recent study, published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology, suggested that champagne and white wine 'protect' the heart from cardiac arrest. It suggested long-term beliefs about the benefits of red wine may also apply to other varieties of the drink. Its thought that the polyphenols found in wine, typically associated with red wine, can play a role in lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease. These antioxidants can be found in all types of wine but are lower in white varieties, and some experts think they can help to protect the heart and other body cells as well as the brain. However, this research does not take into account the other potential harms that alcohol can cause. Prof Nutt recommends following the guidelines set out by the NHS, which state that both men and women should not drink 'more than 14 units a week [equivalent to six pints of average-strength beer or 10 small glasses of lower-strength wine] on a regular basis'.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs took ecstasy shaped like Obama's face, jury hears
Sean 'Diddy' Combs once took an ecstasy pill shaped like former president Barack Obama's face, the hip-hop mogul's former personal assistant testified on Tuesday at Combs' racketeering and sex trafficking trial. David James, who worked for Combs from 2007 to 2009, told jurors during the second week of the trial in Manhattan federal court he frequently saw Combs take drugs, including opiates during the day and ecstasy at night. James said he sometimes picked up drugs for Combs and his friends and often brought narcotics and other personal items such as lubricant and condoms to Combs' hotel rooms. He said he once saw Combs take an ecstasy pill shaped like a 'former president's face'. When prosecutor Christy Slavik asked him which president, James responded, 'president Obama.' Prosecutors say Combs, the founder of Bad Boy Records, forced women to take part in days-long, drug-fuelled sexual performances known as 'Freak Offs' from 2004 to 2024. They say his employees helped by buying drugs, booking and stocking hotel rooms and giving Combs cash to pay male sex workers to take part in the parties. Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty. His lawyers have acknowledged Combs had substance abuse issues and was an abusive romantic partner, but say the sex acts described by prosecutors were consensual.

Melaka cops bust ecstasy syndicate, arrest two Vietnamese women and seize RM295,000 in assets
MELAKA, May 17 — Police have crippled a drug trafficking syndicate dealing in ecstasy powder after arresting three suspects, including two Vietnamese women, in a raid in Taman Melaka Raya here. Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit said a local man and the two women, aged between 22 and 36, were nabbed at around 5 pm last Wednesday (May 14) at a unit of the Hilir Kota Apartments. 'All three suspects have been remanded for seven days from May 15 to 21, and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
