Chelsea told to sign Aston Villa star and send Jadon Sancho back to Man Utd

Chelsea have been advised to send Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United by Stamford Bridge hero Frank Sinclair. The Blues face a difficult decision over Sancho's future at the club following a mixed loan spell in west London. While Sancho helped Chelsea qualify for the Champions League and win the Conference League, he struggled for consistency during his stint at the club. Chelsea agreed to sign Sancho on a permanent transfer this summer for around £25m when they took him from Manchester United on loan. However, the west Londoners can escape the transfer agreement by paying United £5m in compensation. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Chelsea are yet to make their final decision but are leaning towards keeping Sancho beyond this season, providing he agrees to take a pay-cut. But ex-Chelsea Sinclair doubts Sancho is 'the answer' for Enzo Maresca's side and believes the money could be better spent on other additions. Sancho scored five goals and made four assists during his loan spell at Chelsea after being banished by former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag. Asked if Chelsea should sign Sancho on a permanent transfer, Sinclair told the Daily Express: 'The only person who can answer that is the recruitment team. 'Chelsea do need a right-footed player on the left-hand side so Jadon is definitely one for them to seriously consider. 'He has the quality, he has plenty of experience, but I am not sure he has the all-around game for Chelsea to get to the next level and win the Premier League, which has to be the aim for the club. 'So I don't see him being the answer.' While Sinclair has doubts over Sancho, he named Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers as a player he would welcome at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are one of a number of clubs who have expressed interest in the England international, who Villa could be tempted to sell this summer for financial reasons. 'I like Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa, Chelsea need back-up on the left-hand side of the pitch in the forward positions,' Sinclair added. More Trending 'There is definite need to add more established quality to this young squad. 'Chelsea got Champions League football, which was the aim, but now if they want to challenge for the Premier League then they need more strength in depth, more established players that can ensure Chelsea can be more consistent during the season.' The Blues are set to bolster Maresca's squad with the £30m signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. Chelsea enjoyed an encouraging campaign under Maresca, qualifying for the Champions League and winning the Conference League. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Next Rangers Manager: Here are the latest odds as new favourite emerges for Ibrox hierarchy

Rangers are thought to be closing in on the appointment of their 20th permanent manager, with the Ibrox hierarchy said to be holding further talks with the main candidates this week. After confirming interim boss Barry Ferguson would not be given the role on a permanent basis, work has ramped up from the Glasgow giants in order to appoint a new manager ahead of the new season since a disappointing domestic campaign came to an end last month. With the Andrew Cavenagh-led American consortium including 49ers Enterprises now rubber stamped, an appointment is surely close, but who will the Rangers hierarchy turn to in a bid to bring a halt to Celtic's dominance in the Scottish Premiership? Scotland's hopes of calling up goalkeeper Chris Brady appear to be over after he was named in the USA squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Turkey and Switzerland on June 7 and 10. The 6ft 3in stopper currently plays for MLS outfit Chicago Fire, and has been strongly linked with a potential call up to the Scotland squad in recent months after American-based media claimed head coach Steve Clarke and the Scottish Football Association were aware of his eligibility, with further reports in January even stating the 61-year-old had made contact with the Naperville-born player. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'I just want to make a name for myself,' admitted Brady when asked about his international future back in March. 'I think that's something I haven't yet been able to do quite yet on the most senior international level. So I would say, going forward, that's something I'm geared towards making an impact. Scotland manager Steve Clarke. | SNS Group 'It's extremely important to impress if you go to a national team camp and there's close to no time to work on training. But yes, I want to showcase what I can do on the international stage in 2025. My confidence in my role of being a goalkeeper for a team that plays on a stage like this has definitely grown. I'm very open now - especially now - to new systems, new ideas and new coaches.' However, the Tartan Army squad for the upcoming friendly clashes with Iceland and Lichtenstein saw free agent Angus Gunn earn a recall, alongside uncapped duo Robby McCrorie and Cieran Slicker, with Brady not given a maiden call up despite the rumours surround his potential inclusion. It now appears the 21-year-old has opted to represent the country of his birth, rather than switch allegiance to the Scottish national team, after being called up by ex-Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino to the USA squad. The youngster has been included alongside fellow uncapped goalkeeper Matt Freese of New York City, with experienced duo Matt Turner and Zack Steffen the other two goalkeepers in Pochettino's armoury. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Celtic duo Auston Trusty and Cameron Carter-Vickers are not included in the 27-man squad for the upcoming double header, though Pochettino has been known to rest key players and evaluating new options for friendlies, with both Carter-Vickers and Trusty's likely to come back into the squad for the upcoming Gold Cup campaign, which begins against Trinidad and Tobago on June 15. FIFA regulations state a player who has not played in a competitive senior international match can switch national teams, if eligible, at a later date, meaning Brady's inclusion in the USA squad doesn't officially end hopes of him being added to a Scotland squad in the future, even if he plays in the upcoming friendly games.
