Former Rangers star Colin Hendry admits harassing ex-partner
The 59-year-old ex-central defender, who helped Blackburn win the Premier League title and captained Scotland at the 1998 World Cup, was sentenced at Preston Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. Hendry had admitted harassment of his former partner over a period of six months after their relationship ended. Natasha Clark, senior crown prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service North West, said: 'Colin Hendry harassed a former partner for over six months after their relationship ended after she stopped returning his calls. 'He ignored her wishes and breached boundaries she put in place, using multiple different platforms to contact her. 'Hendry's behaviour was intimidating and persistent, causing the victim immense distress, but despite this he initially refused to accept it was harassment. 'This outcome is a clear indication that the CPS will not hesitate to prosecute anyone guilty of harassment, whether this is in person or online.' When his calls went unanswered, he turned to other means including dozens of emails and messaging her on LinkedIn. After her saying she no longer wanted any kind of relationship with him, Hendry consistently attempted to contact her, showing up to her house with unwanted gifts and flowers on several occasions. The victim reported Hendry to the police, saying she felt depressed and anxious because of his behaviour. She said she was unable to leave the house without fearing an unannounced visit from him. Lancashire Police contacted Hendry to warn him about his behaviour, telling him to stop all communications to the ex-partner which were unwanted. While Hendry admitted to his conduct, he tried to deny it was harassment, claiming he never received a written warning from police so continued to contact her and that he was simply concerned for the affected person and her dog. He later admitted one count of harassment without violence. Hendry started his football career with Dundee before moving to Blackburn in 1987 and then on to Manchester City two years later. He rejoined Rovers for a second stint in 1991 and was a key part of the title-winning team four years later, before spending 18 months in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers towards the end of the 1990s.

The Watford defender has two years left on his current deal at Vicarage Road, having joined the second tier club from Hibs in 2022, but has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Hornets after his underwhelming loan spell at Preston North End in the second-half a last season. According to Sky Sports, the 26-year-old is now closing in on a move to the BMO Stadium this summer, with the two clubs said to have agreed a deal worth around £872,000, with a 50% sell-on clause inserted into the deal by Watford. According to reports, the Hoops boss has 'taken a shine' to the 20-year-old Spanish midfielder, who spent last season on loan with Las Palmas, and is now ready to launch a bid to bring the player to Celtic Park on a loan-to-buy deal. A Spanish youth international, Bajcetic was signed for a fee of £224,000 from Celta Vigo in 2020 as a 16-year-old, but has struggled for first team football at Anfield, making just 22 appearances for the club since his arrival. Elsewhere, the Hoops continue to be foiled in their bid to bring Danish winger Breum to the club, having had a third bid rejected for the 21-year-old earlier this week. The young Dane scored 11 goals and assisted a further six in the Eredivisie last season, and is said to be keen on the move to the Scottish champions, though Celtic appear to have his a stumbling block over their valuation of the youngster. Several reports claim the clubs are too far apart in their valuation of the player, with Celtic 'cautious about overextending their budget' this summer. Currently nursing a knock, reports claim Rak-Sakyi would be 'open' to making the switch to Ibrox, hower, Eagles boss Glasner appears to have poured cold water on the switch, calling on the club's board to ensure no more players are sold this summer. And we can reveal he appears to have made moves to spend even more time in the home of his birth. Property records show he bought a flat in the city's leafy Hyndland area last September. The purchase came five months after he sold the luxury £3.25million home in Cheshire he shared with late wife Lady Cathy, who died aged 84 in October 2023. A source said: "It's good to see him back in a city he calls home. 'People in Glasgow have loved seeing him.' Earlier this week the footie icon paid a visit to Rangers' Auchenhowie training centre and caught up with some of the club's current staff and players. Rangers Women captain Nicola Docherty shared a picture of herself alongside the managerial great in the training centre as she beamed on social media: 'Met a legend today, Sir Alex!' Ferguson has also been spotted in Glasgow's West End as he headed to popular restaurant Ox and Finch in Sauchiehall Street. A description of the property hails its balcony and "wonderful, peaceful position" Eric Black on the Gothenburg Greats, Sir Alex Ferguson & remembering Neale Cooper Sir Alex was born in Govan and his father worked in the shipbuilding industry. He began his football career as an amateur with Queen's Park aged 16. He played for Rangers for two seasons from 1967 to 1969 and won the European Cup Winners Cup with Aberdeen as a manager in 1983. New Ibrox boss Russell Martin has said the support from the legend has been 'incredible'. Martin played under Sir Alex's son Darren Ferguson at Peterborough United. And the Rangers manager said Darren put him in touch with his dad. After the great's recent visit, Martin said: 'He's been great. He's been so supportive of me personally, which is incredible. It's the first time he's been here and it was just brilliant for everyone to see him,' Last month we told how his family firm boosted its value last year to almost £27million. ACF Sports Promotions, founded by the former Aberdeen and Manchester United boss had £28.1million in assets last June. Revenue is said to be derived from the Glasgow-born dad of three's 'appearances, image rights and royalties'. But Sir Alex, 83, stepped down as a director of the company last year and gave control to his oldest son Mark, 56. He called Lady Cathy his 'bedrock'.

Former sidekick of caged kingpin Jamie ‘Iceman' Stevenson arrested in Dubai after five years on the run
THE former right-hand man of caged cocaine kingpin Jamie 'Iceman' Stevenson has been arrested in Dubai after five years on the run. Stephen 'Jimmy' Jamieson, 42, of Glasgow, will be extradited to Scotland over a raft of allegations linked to serious organised crime. 4 Stephen 'Jimmy' Jamieson (left) was the former right-hand man of caged cocaine kingpin Jamie 'Iceman' Stevenson 4 Jamieson was arrested in Dubai after five years on the run 4 Jamieson took over the kingpin's empire when he was jailed for smuggling cocaine in banana boxes 4 Jamieson fled to Dubai five years ago Credit: Getty Jamieson is 'ready to come home' to face justice following five years on the run in Dubai, we can reveal. Underworld sources said the drug dealer had decided not to fight his extradition to Scotland as he is fed-up of the glitzy lifestyle and misses his friends and family. Jamieson fled to the Gulf state five years ago and took over the empire of cartel boss Jamie 'Iceman' Stevenson, 60 — jailed for a £100million plot to smuggle cocaine to Glasgow from South America in boxes of bananas. He has been wanted by Interpol since and has now finally been tracked down in connection with allegations linked to serious organised crime here. One well-placed source said: 'Jimmy has decided to go back, face the consequences and get it over and done with. 'All of his close friends and family stay in Scotland. 'He's never been happy in Dubai. He likes his home comforts and the Glasgow lifestyle.' Jamieson fled to Dubai in 2020 as cops began rounding up hundreds of hoods after the French and Dutch forces cracked EncroChat — the encrypted phone network used by organised gangs. He has been snared under a cross-border arrest warrant, known as an Interpol red notice, and looks certain to appear in court in Scotland soon. Our insider added: 'Only the most serious charges result in red notices. The INSIDE story of Scotland's biggest gangster - Jamie 'The Iceman' Stevenson 'Whatever he is wanted for must be serious and if he is convicted, it will carry a large sentence.' Jamieson's arrest comes after we told this month how he chased ex-Rangers ultras leader turned mobster Ross 'Miami' McGill around a Dubai gym. Sources say the clash came as expat hoods in the UAE get 'twitchy' over the ongoing turf war McGill, from East Kilbride, kicked off in Scotland. Insiders say he was a supporter of McGill, who is targeting allies of jailed Edinburgh cocaine kingpin Mark Richardson, 38, after he was ripped off with fake cash in a £500,000 drugs deal. But the relationship is said to have soured after Miami and his crew also took on Glasgow's Daniel mob. Cops have so far made 55 arrests. Police Scotland declined to comment on Jamieson's arrest.
