25-year-old man charged in connection with assault: N.B. RCMP
A 25-year-old man from Elsipogtog First Nation, N.B., has been charged following an assault and use of an imitation firearm in the community. Elsipogtog RCMP received a report on May 27 that a woman had been assaulted by a man at a residence in the community. Police arrested a 25-year-old man from the area on the same day, a release from the RCMP reads. Members of the Elsipogtog RCMP, along with Southeast District Community Crime Reduction Unit, also executed a search warrant at a residence, where police say officers seized: a vehicle in connection to the investigation an air pistol two magazines air canisters pellets The 25-year-old, Knight Oakley Simon, was remanded into custody and appeared in Moncton provincial court where he was charged with: pointing a firearm uttering threats assault assault with a weapon assault by choking Simon remains in custody and will appear in court on June 9 for his bail hearing. Gardaí urge anyone at Carlow shopping centre during shooting to come forward
Gardaí in Carlow continue to investigate all circumstances surrounding the discharge of a firearm and the death of a man in his 20s following an incident at Fairgreen Shopping Centre, Co Carlow. The incident unfolded at 6:15pm when it appears a man fired a number of shots towards the roof of the busy Tesco supermarket at the Fairgreen Shopping Centre. Advertisement Shoppers and staff ran for cover when two rounds of shots rang out. It is understood that the man, then ran outside of the building and shot himself dead. A girl was also injured and has been taken to St Luke's General Hospital for treatment. Gardaí said the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit has completed its examination of the area and it has been declared safe. However, the scene remains cordoned off while both the Garda Technical Bureau and the Office of the State Pathologist conduct examinations. An update will be issued when cars parked within the cordon can be retrieved. Advertisement An incident room has been established at Carlow Garda Station, with a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) appointed to lead the investigation. A Family Liaison Officer is providing support to the deceased's family at this time. Investigating gardaí are urging anyone who may have recorded footage of the incident not to share it on social media platforms or messaging apps, but instead to provide it directly to the investing team. Anyone present at Fairgreen Shopping Centre between approximately 6:00pm and 6:30pm on Sunday evening is asked to contact the incident room at Carlow Garda Station. Unregistered, loaded firearm found in felon's car: PD
(KRON) – A convicted felon was found with an unregistered firearm during a traffic stop early Sunday morning, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department. Santa Rosa police officers pulled over a vehicle for equipment and moving violations near Maple Avenue around 4:10 a.m. The driver was identified as 29-year-old Vallejo resident Omar Talley. Due to him being on probation, Santa Rosa PD said he could be subject to search by any law enforcement officer. Grass fire sparks at Singleton Landfill, flames extinguished An unregistered and loaded Glock 9mm pistol with 25 rounds under the driver's seat, police said. Per authorities, Talley is prohibited from having a gun due to a prior felony conviction. Talley was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail for suspicion of prohibited person in possession of a firearm, prohibited person in possession of ammunition, possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and possessing of a firearm not registered with the Department of Justice. Valley Springs man arrested after yard work dispute leads to gunfire
( — The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting that led to an arrest on Tuesday morning. According to CCSO, deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 200 block of Hoffman Drive in Valley Springs around 8:30 a.m. When crews arrived a the scene, they were advised that the homeowner, Frank Anthony Moore, 75, of Valley Springs, was not pleased with the yard maintenance service provided by a worker. CCSO stated that this led to a verbal dispute. The altercation escalated when the victim, who is the worker, requested payment for his service. During the confirmation, Moore, who is the suspect, reportedly got his firearm from inside the house and returned outside, discharging more than one round in the direction of the victim. The victim told the deputies that one round came within almost one foot of striking him, CCSO said. The victim was able to safely leave the area and call 911, and wait for law enforcement to arrive. Detectives were called to the scene to help with the investigation and collect evidence, according to CCSO. After the investigation, deputies found out that Moore was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms. Based on the evidence that was collected, CCSO said that it was enough for a search warrant to be secured for the residence from the Calaveras County Superior Court Judge. During the search, deputies found two 9mm handguns, one .380 caliber pistol, ammunition matching both firearms, and shotgun ammunition. All of the firearms and ammunition were collected and booked into evidence. Moore has been arrested without incident, booked into the Calavera County Jail, and has been charged with four felony charges and three misdemeanors. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
