Prince William and Harry's cousin, 20, found dead 'with firearm nearby'

Prince William and Harry's cousin has been found dead with a 'firearm nearby'. Rosie Roche, who was the granddaughter of Princess Diana 's uncle, died at her family home on July 14. The 20-year-old was found by her mother and sister after she had been packing for a holiday with friends. A firearm was found near to her at the property in Norton, Wiltshire, The Sun reports. An inquest at Wiltshire and Swindon coroner's court was opened and adjourned until October 25. Coroner Grant Davies said police 'have deemed the death as non-suspicious and there was no third-party involvement'. Ms Roche had been studying for a degree in English Literature at Durham University. A spokeswoman added that William and Harry's cousin 'will be sorely missed'. An obituary published by the Yorkshire Post said: 'Roche, Rosie Jeanne Burke. Died on Monday 14th July 2025. 'Darling daughter of Hugh and Pippa, incredible sister to Archie and Agatha, Granddaughter to Derek and Rae Long. 'Private family funeral. A memorial service will be held at a later date.' The death notice of Ms Roche appeared in The Times newspaper. The student was a scion of the Barons Fermoy and the eldest child of (Edmund) Hugh Burke Roche, 53, and his wife the former Phillipa Kate Victoria Long. Her grandfather was the 5th Baron Fermoy, Princess Diana's uncle, who shot himself dead in 1984. Last February, Thomas Kingston, Lady Gabriella Windsor's husband, died from a head injury, with a gun found near his body at his parents' home in the Cotswolds. An inquest in January heard that he had been given several drugs to treat depression by a GP at the Royal Mews Surgery, a practice at Buckingham Palace, after having trouble sleeping following stress at work. In the days leading up to his death, the former hostage negotiator turned financier had stopped taking any medication and toxicology tests showed caffeine and small amounts of sleeping tablet zopiclone in his system. The coroner found that he took his own life while 'suffering adverse effects of medication he had recently been prescribed'.

Queensland Police make horrific find on man's phone

A man has been arrested after police allegedly found an image of two young children bound with duct tape on his phone. The 44-year-old man was arrested at a property in Emerald, about 70 km west of Rockhampton, Queensland, on May 26. Detectives from Queensland's Emerald Criminal Investigation Branch searched the property during an investigation into illegal weapons and illicit drugs. Police seized several items from the property, including a mobile phone. The mobile phone was forensically examined and allegedly found to contain an image showing two children, both three years old, bound with duct tape. Police will allege the man can be seen pointing what appears to be a firearm at the children. It will also be alleged the image had been forwarded to several other people after it was taken. It is understood the children were not related to the man but were known to him. Officers were able to identify the children and confirmed both were safe. The 44-year-old man was charged with unlawful possession of a category H firearm, dangerous conduct with a weapon, and two counts of deprivation of liberty. He was granted bail under strict conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Emerald Magistrates Court on August 26. In an unrelated incident, another Emerald man was arrested and charged with sexual offences against a child after concerned community members raised the alarm. The 59-year-old man was arrested and charged on Friday with grooming a child under 16 years, rape, supplying dangerous drugs to a minor, and breach of bail. Police allege the man provided dangerous drugs to a child and committed sexual offences against the same child between June and July 2025. The man was remanded in custody and is expected to face the Emerald Magistrates Court later on Tuesday. Officer in Charge of Emerald CIB, Detective Sergeant Dylan Brook, praised community members for coming forward to police and assisting the victim. 'I would like to thank the community members for having the courage to report the matters to the police and supporting the victim survivors,' Detective Sergeant Brook said. 'The Emerald police are committed to supporting victims of sexual abuse with compassion and work diligently and tirelessly to hold offenders accountable through the court system.' Queensland Police released footage showing the arrests of both men at their respective properties in Emerald. In the video, the 44-year-old man is seen standing with his arms crossed while two police officers speak to him on his property. 'Are you willing to come down to the station with us now?' one of the officers asked. 'No dramas, I'm going to place you under arrest.' The footage also shows police attending the property of the 59-year-old man. Officers inform him he is being placed under arrest for the grooming of a child before escorting him to a police vehicle parked on the street.
