BYD announces Qatar debut of SEAL 7 DM-i model
Mannai Trading, the exclusive dealer for top new energy vehicles maker BYD in Qatar, has launched its all-new model - BYD SEAL 7 DMi - at a special fleet event held at the BYD showroom in Doha. The event underscored Mannai Automotive's strategic focus on fleet electrification, positioning BYD as a key player in the commercial EV landscape in Qatar. It provided fleet managers with a unique opportunity to experience first-hand BYD's cutting-edge technology, innovation, and vision for the future of mobility, said the statement from the top vehicle maker. Guests were among the first to preview the all-new Seal 7 DM-i, alongside the showcased Qin Plus and Song Plus, highlighting the breadth and versatility of BYD's fleet offerings. The event brought together key fleet partners and stakeholders, who had the opportunity to experience the top EV company's new technologies and intelligent driving features. Attendees enjoyed a guided vehicle walk-around, providing hands-on briefings on vehicle specifications, performance, and connectivity solutions tailored for fleet businesses, said the statement. Logistics company cuts carbon emissions with new technology
A logistics company has cut its carbon emissions by installing new technology across its fleet. Chiltern Distribution, based in Peterborough, has installed Webfleet, Bridgestone's fleet management solution, in its 55 HGVs. This has resulted in a 1.5 per cent improvement in miles per gallon (MPG) and a 2 per cent reduction in fuel consumption. The company, which provides transport solutions for frozen, chilled, ambient, and pharmaceutical distribution, is aiming to reduce its CO2 emissions. Recommended Reading: Government approves major new development project in Peterborough Andy Gibson, fleet manager at Chiltern Distribution, said: "Integrating Webfleet with our incumbent transport planning system has been simple and seamless, helping us cut fuel consumption and CO2 by allocating the nearest driver to jobs, avoiding traffic, and following eco-friendly routes." Chiltern Distribution's managing director, Brian Sagaseta, said: "Our fleet covers more than 87,000 miles each year, so the 1.5 per cent MPG improvement translates to significant CO2 savings. "As well as giving us powerful insights into our mileage efficiency, the software also provides an at-a-glance overview of where all our assets are at any given moment." Recommended Reading: National bakery chain opens new city branch The Webfleet platform also helps Chiltern Distribution meet the latest DVS 2024 Progressive Safe System (PSS) requirements. The integration of a 360° camera system from Fastview360 offers comprehensive front, side, and reversing coverage, granting instant access to live footage via the Webfleet platform. Chiltern Distribution is committed to several other eco-initiatives, including energy-efficient eco tyres, Euro 6 trucks, and aerodynamic Volvo FH Aeros. ThermoKing A400 advanced temperature control technology is being used to cut refrigeration CO2 emissions, while solar panels are being trialled on some vehicles as a backup energy source. Beverley Wise, Webfleet UKI regional director for Bridgestone Mobility Solutions, praised Chiltern Distribution's proactive approach. She said: "Chiltern Distribution's integration of Webfleet showcases how advanced telematics can drive significant improvements in sustainability and operational efficiency."
