Travelers Swear by These Comfy $14 Flip-flops With Arch Support That Let Them Walk 20,000+ Steps Pain-free
Wearing sneakers in the summer is a quick recipe for sweaty feet, but they're usually the go-to travel shoes for most people. But a supportive and comfy pair of sandals will let your feet breathe and keep them cushioned during long days on your feet, and let you show off your fresh pedicure. Travelers and theme park goers have seemingly found the pair of flip-flops for summer trips—and they're currently on sale for $14 at Amazon's fashion store. They're made with arch support for ultimate comfort, so much so that one shopper said they feel like 'walking on clouds.' Shoppers are loving these flip-flops so much, more than 8,000 have been purchased this month already—and we can see why. They have a yoga mat-inspired footbed for extra arch support and 'marshmallow'-like comfort. Some reviewers are even ditching their sneakers for these flip-flops, including one traveler who said they were even more comfortable than their tennis shoes, even when walking 20,000 steps a day across a variety of terrains. Another fan who wore the shoes across the French and Italian Rivieras said they didn't have any foot pain in them, even after walking on uneven cobblestones, trails, stairs, and hills. In addition to arch support, the sandals have a hard rubber outsole for extra traction, which is especially helpful for preventing slips near wet pool decks or beach boardwalks. One cruise-goer said they are the most anti-slip flip-flops they've owned. They even tried to slide across the deck (just to test them), and their feet stayed right in place. They're also easy to pack thanks to the flexible material and flat design, so you can slide them into your carry-on without taking up much space (unlike a bulky pair of espadrilles). The flip-flops come in are 27 colors and patterns, including neutrals like all black, and bolder, statement-making colors like royal blue. The versatile design makes it easy to dress them up or down, whether that's with an elegant summer dress and jewelry or flowy linen pants and a T-shirt. Shop KuaiLu's flip-flops while they're still on sale for $14 at Amazon and check out more comfy sandal options for less than $20 below. Love a great deal? These Podiatrist-approved Comfortable Sandals Are a 'Life-saver' According to Travelers—and Just $30
Flip-flops are probably not what you'd think your podiatrist would recommend for issues like plantar fasciitis or bone spurs. But, the Aerothotic sandals are no ordinary flip-flops—and they have more than 30,000 five-star ratings at Amazon to prove it. From hiking and biking to navigating swaying cruise ships and 500-acre theme parks, shoppers have put these comfy, supportive sandals to the test. The $30 flip-flops have earned rave reviews from professionals constantly on their feet, such as nurses and teachers who opt for them as a recovery shoe for their off days. And, travelers attest to their support and durability even on slick, rocky trails. We pored over feedback from reviewers to find out what makes these the seemingly most comfortable flip-flops—and what's earned them the nod of approval from podiatrists, too. These Aerothotic shoes are some of the few flip-flops to earn the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Acceptance, which means that they promote good foot health. Some key features include: high arches, supportive heel cups for improved balance, gel insoles that contour to each unique foot shape, and cushiony posts that don't create blisters between the toes. One reviewer wrote that they paid $200 for tennis shoes and inserts to alleviate their plantar fasciitis and spurs, but their feet still hurt until they switched to these flip-flops. Now, they walk an average of six miles a day, and their feet 'never hurt at all.' Another is a nurse who walks six to eight miles per shift and has hardly any pain when they slip into these after work. A teacher with 'excruciating pain' from plantar fasciitis says that 'within two seconds' of putting these on, their 'foot no longer hurts.' Others recommend them specifically for travel. The comments are brimming with intrepid flip-flop wearers who have worn these shoes on cruise ships, uneven European sidewalks, slippery hiking trails in Hawaii, and more. 'Due to lost luggage, they were the only shoes I had for four days in Madagascar,' one review reads. 'I hiked in them … actually rock scrambled … [and] they were better than my hiking boots as they were flexible, gave great support, stayed on, and the inch-high sole protected my feet.' Your podiatrist might not recommend swapping your proper hiking boots for flip-flops on such a venture, but they would probably endorse squeezing these recovery slip-ons into your suitcase for casual activities like morning coffee runs, beach walks, and hanging out at the hotel. Considering the thousands of glowing reviews calling the shoes a 'life-saver' and a 'saving grace,' we'd say they seem worth the $30. If the words 'recovery flip-flops' appeal to you, then good news: we found more comfortable styles at Amazon, below. At the time of publishing, the price started at $30. Love a great deal? Mary-Kate Olsen Lives the $690 Flip-Flop Fantasy This Summer
It was a couple of months ago that water cooler conversation at Vogue first turned to a pair of Olsen-made flip-flops. Not due to any particularly novel design (though they do feature grosgrain straps and a lugged sole), nor the famous feet they've been spotted on (Jennifer Lawrence, Hailey Bieber, Dakota Johnson, Zoë Kravitz, Kendall Jenner), but because they were priced at $690. Arguably outrageous for an indistinct thong sandal you could pick up from Muji for a fistful of loose change–everything with a luxury label costs too much. And $690 is basically entry-level for The Row. The leather City flip-flops are $890; the suede Hugh sliders are $1,090; while the Hook-and-Loop sandal retails for $1,070. But, ah: it's the lifestyle you're really buying into here. 'Like all flip-flops, they are pool attire, good for walking a stretch of scorching sand,' wrote The New York Times at the peak of the discourse. 'And yet the Row's take…is in a class of its own–best suited, let's imagine, for a stroll down the starboard side of a yacht.' Or, in Mary-Kate Olsen's case, a grocery run in the Hamptons: sweatpants, sun-bleached tourist tee, dad cap, and brown paper bag clutched between clavicle and Amex. Much like the flip-flops themselves, it's the ultimate in high-low dressing–which is, perhaps, the point.

This summer's status flip-flops
Love them or hate them, flip-flops are undergoing a luxury transformation. No longer are they reserved for beach holidays and shuffling back and forth from your pedicure. They can now be spotted on the front row and its environs, gracing the feet of fashion folk and Hollywood celebrities alike. They also recently made headlines after The Row, the brand started by the Olsen twins, put out its own Dune pair made of rubber and fabric, which sells for £670. Although the release was met with some surprise, the shoes appear to be selling like hot cakes on luxury retail sites like Net-a-Porter, where customer searches for 'The Row Dune' have increased by 775 per cent in the past three months. But this is not the most expensive pair ever made. In 2011, a brand called Chipkos crafted a pair worth $18,000. They were created as a charity project and featured 18-carat-gold Chipkos emblems as well as hand-painted designs by the artist David Palmer. The proceeds were used to protect 100,000 acres of Costa Rican rainforest. Flip-flops have been around since 4,000 BC. In ancient Egypt the pharaohs had a particular affinity for jewel-encrusted pairs, and plainer leather versions were also popular with the Romans. They eventually made their way to cultures around the world, adopted in South and Central America, India and Japan. It was in Japan that American soldiers first encountered the shoe, then called zori, during the Second World War. They brought pairs back to the US where they grew in popularity during the 1950s and 60s, quickly becoming associated with surf culture. California was the first place in the US to produce rubber flip-flops. You might need to spend a little extra time making sure your toes are looked after properly, but get this fancy flip-flop look right, and you'll come out looking like someone who's really in the know this summer. Man completes epic 1200 mile journey from Manchester to Ibiza in flip flops
A man from Macclesfield has completed a nearly 1,200 mile walk from Manchester to Ibiza, with just a pair of flip flops for footwear. Henry Moores, 22, completed the astonishing feat on June 29, raising over £55,000 for children's cancer charity Bemorefab. The 22-year-old has previously set off on many long distance adventures, including walking to France, as well as making the very same trip to Ibiza. You might think that a good pair of stout walking boots would be essential when attempting a 1,200 walk, but Henry did it in just flip flops. He previously spoke to the Manchester Evening News about his feat, saying: "I had such a good time last year and wanted to do it again, but to keep everyone entertained I thought there had to be a different catalyst, and that was footwear. "Making it harder gets more attention and that gets more donations for a great charity." The feat was clearly effective as Henry raised some £55,890 for Bemorefab at the time of writing. Taking to Instagram to celebrate his achievement, he wrote: "Thank you for everyone who has donated, flown to Ibiza and helped me along the way with discounts, free food and water and helping me to organise bits I couldn't do myself, thanks so much again and you'll see me soon." Henry first began undertaking his challenges back in 2023 after an apprenticeship "went a bit awry". He said: "I said to my mum, 'I'm going to Paris'. I've always wanted to do a big walk and have always joked about it. "I came back from that and raised around £20,000 for local charities and by then I'd really got the bug for it. I thought, what next?" Since then Henry has documented his journeys on his Instagram account, racking up some 418,000 followers for his adventures. His latest adventure began on April 5, and after a gruelling journey lasting nearly two months he finally touched down in Ibiza. The final day saw him being dragged on a dinghy behind a boat for the final stretch of the journey over water. A video posted to his page shows the long distance walker wearing a tuxedo and armbands as he emerges from the sea onto land to cheers from waiting onlookers.
