Meghan Markle hints at future fashion line as she expands her lifestyle brand

Meghan, who is married to Prince Harry, has already had a busy year after launching her lifestyle brand As Ever - but it appears she isn't content to stay put and has teased a brand new business venture Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, is steaming ahead in her entrepreneurial journey, hinting at another potential commercial enterprise on the cards. The 43 year old wife of Prince Harry hit the ground running this year, introducing her lifestyle brand As Ever to a worldwide fanbase and quickly following up with a Netflix series 'With Love, Meghan' and the inauguration of her podcast 'Confessions of a Female Founder'. ‌ Pairing her business aspirations with a victorious reappearance on social media, Meghan has been creating a distinct place for herself within the lifestyle and wellbeing market. Yet, she seems not to be resting on her laurels, having suggested the idea of introducing a clothing collection in the not too distant future. ‌ During a recent interview with the Fast Company published on May 27, Meghan shared insights into her ambitions to grow her enterprise, moving beyond the instantly popular food items like honey, fruit preserves, and flower sprinkles she launched. "My heart is very deeply in my home," Meghan remarked to the publication. "Everything comes from being rooted in the love story of your home and garden, and then you can imagine different verticals coming out of that," reports the Express. Offering a glimpse into As Ever's potential future, Meghan was questioned about the possibility of launching a clothing line - and supporters will be thrilled to learn that it is indeed something she plans to explore. She shared with the publication: "The category of fashion is something I will explore at a later date, because I do think that's an interesting space for me." ‌ A venture into fashion would be well-timed for Meghan, especially considering her recent success with the debut of her ShopMy page earlier this year. This innovative platform enables the Duchess to share links to some of her favourite clothing items and accessories, allowing fans to experience a touch of Royal luxury and emulate her signature style. "A handpicked and curated collection of the things I love - I hope you enjoy them," she stated on the page, adding, "Please note, some products may contain commissionable links." Meghan is also no newcomer to design, having previously unveiled a capsule collection of women's workwear for the charity Smart Works in 2019, which supports women in finding employment.

From Flowers to Sarees, A Story of PM Modi's Communication Imagery Post-Operation Sindoor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi waving at supporters during a roadshow in Vadodara, Gujarat. Photo: PTI On May 26, Gujarat's Vadodara city was decked out in red to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi – from red carpets, to women in red sarees with red bindi and caps that read 'Operation Sindoor'. Women performed the garba in front of red hoardings that declared India victorious in the strikes against Pakistan. With all this grandeur, Modi's roadshow appeared to be a marketing exercise for Operation Sindoor. During this red roadshow in Vadodara, a part of his two-day visit to Gujarat, family members of Army officer Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, one of the two women officers who briefed the media on 'Operation Sindoor', were seen showering flower petals on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Colonel Qureshi is the first woman to have led an Indian Army contingent at ASEAN's multi-national military exercise named 'Exercise Force 18', which was the largest-ever foreign military exercise hosted by India. Her family, including her parents and sister, shared that they were called by the district magistrate to attend the show and shower flowers on the prime minister. When Colonel Qureshi and Indian Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh briefed the media about 'Operation Sindoor', several reactions on mainstream social media hailed the idea of having two women lead the operation with bravado. Despite that, today, when it comes to receiving public appreciation, the family of a colonel who led the airstrikes against Pakistan terror bases is being ferried to a roadshow to shower petals on the prime minister. Why is it that the two symbols of nari shakti (women empowerment) did not receive a shower of petals from our fellow Indians? After all, it was these women who led the defence operation, not the prime minister. On May 22, in a public address in Bikaner, Rajasthan, regarding the April 22 Pahalgam attack, he claimed that 'hot sindoor (vermillion)' flowed through his veins – again using the symbol that depicts married Hindu women to display the depth of his anger against Pakistan. He said that the Indian armed forces made Pakistan 'kneel' during Operation Sindoor and that the world had now seen what would happen when ' sindoor turns to gunpowder'. But what stands out in this apparent PR exercise is that the prime minister's convenient amnesia makes him forget about those who actually led the 'war' he claims he won. This opportune act has made him utilise ' sindoor' not just as something that married Hindu women apply on their foreheads, but also totally rendering invisible the Muslim women widowed in the Pahalgam Attack – and later making Colonel Qureshi's family a part of the civilians present to laud Modi with flowers, demeaning the contribution she has made to secure the border. Using her family as an accessory to augment the roadshow reminds us of the way Modi deployed the 'women empowerment' label to push forward his right-wing stances on triple talaq , Waqf (Amendment) Act, as well as the revocation of Article 370. Isn't blood supposed to unite us into the common fold of being humans? Doesn't ' sindoor' divide? This also pushes one to contemplate if Modi's crusade against the 'terrorist structures' in Pakistan was also a crusade emanating from a Hindu Rashtra avenging the killing of Hindu men in front of their wives? In this Hindu Rashtra's crusade towards a Muslim enemy country, the Hindu wife of Vinay Narwal – an officer of the Indian Navy who was killed in Pahalgam – became the first casualty of the crassness of Hindutva followers. Yet, Narwal's widow, Himanshi, did not find a single mention in Modi's speeches after Operation Sindoor. On May 31, at Modi's 'women empowerment conference' in Bhopal, it is being speculated that 620 women in ' sindoori' saree will be managing things on and off the stage, including water, food and parking. Will they be credited for the management of the conference, or will their work be sidelined, and the sindoor in Modi's veins will take the credit for that too?

Calls For Probe Rise After State Name On Manipur Government Bus Forced To Be Covered

Journalists from Imphal valley turned back midway while going to Ukhrul district to attend the state-level Shirui Lily Festival after the security forces covered the word 'Manipur' on the windshield of a state-run bus in which they were travelling. The journalists shared visuals showing some people covering the name of the state on the windshield with tape and paper. They protested against the act, and questioned why the name of the state can't be visible. The bus chartered by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) had to pass through some villages where the Kuki tribes are dominant while going to Ukhrul district, the picturesque venue of the Shirui Lily Festival themed on the state's rare flower. Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla delivered an address at the festival's inauguration on Tuesday; it will end on May 24. Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, inaugurated the 5th Shirui Lily Festival 2025 at Shirui village, Ukhrul, celebrating the rare and fragile Shirui Lily - a symbol of Manipur's natural heritage. Earlier in the day, the Governor trekked to the scenic Shirui peak, 1/2 — RAJ BHAVAN MANIPUR (@RajBhavManipur) May 20, 2025 The Kuki tribes have objected to members of the Meitei community from Imphal valley passing through the tribes' villages. The Kukis have been demanding a separate administration carved out of Manipur. According to some volunteers of the festival who are helping commuters going to Ukhrul, there was concern about possible attacks by anti-social elements on members of the Meitei community at some isolated stretches of the highway. Manipur is under the President's rule, and the state assembly is under suspended animation. The authorities have assured they would provide security to people who are visiting the Shirui Lily Festival. Two media bodies in Manipur in a joint letter to the Governor asked for an investigation into what went wrong. "This incident has triggered serious questions regarding freedom of the press, public safety, and the existing security environment in the region, including the issue of who is governing the state: the state government or the central security forces. Media personnel have called for clarity from the authorities regarding the rationale behind the instruction, especially given the state-backed nature of the journey," Editors' Guild of Manipur secretary general Yumnam Rupachandra and All Manipur Working Journalists Union general secretary Khwairakpam Naoba said in the letter to the Governor. The media associations said all news firms will hold a pen-down strike on Wednesday, and may extend it if swift action is not taken against those responsible for the lapse. Former chief minister N Biren Singh and other leaders cutting across party lines including Govindas Konthoujam, Rajkumar Imo Singh, and state Congress chief Keisham Meghachandra Singh strongly condemned the act of forcing to cover the word 'Manipur' on the DIPR bus. They called the act illegal and a crime against the Constitution. "Manipur is not a question - it is a proud state of the Indian Union. Forcing the removal of - 'Manipur' and the 'MN' registration plate from our own state run Manipur State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus carrying DIPR journalists en route to the Shirui Lily Festival, is a disgrace to the nation," seven-time Bishnupur BJP MLA Govindas Konthoujam said in a post on X. "This act is not discipline - it is a dangerous deviation, an attack on our identity, and a crime against the Constitution, committed within our own land. It is not just an insult to Manipur - it is an assault on the Indian Union itself. Such shameful harassment and defilement of Manipur's name is beyond unacceptable. Justice must prevail. An immediate high-level enquiry committee must be constituted to punish those responsible as per the law of the land," Mr Konthoujam said. "... I am hopeful that the Governor will ensure that strict action is taken against the people involved," Mr Imo said. "Manipur da Manipur thaba yaroi (you can't write 'Manipur' in Manipur). Where are we headed? Whoever is behind this shameful act must be held accountable. I stand firmly with the media fraternity and the people of Manipur," Mr Singh said in a post on X. "Manipur da Manipur thaba yaroi." Where are we headed? Whoever is behind this shameful act must be held accountable. I stand firmly with the media fraternity and the people of Manipur. — N. Biren Singh (@NBirenSingh) May 20, 2025 The inaugural ceremony of the Shirui Lily Festival was held at Heritage Ground in Ukhrul district's Vangayan village. The Shirui lily - a rare, pinkish-white flower - is endemic to the Shirui hill range in Ukhrul, home of the Tangkhul Naga tribe. It is also the state flower. The Manipur Police have said threats to members of the Meitei community not to pass by Kuki-dominant villages were made by fictitious organisations - Kuki-Zo Village Volunteers Eastern Zone, and Kuki-Zoland Protection Command. The group 'Kuki Zo Village Volunteer - Eastern Zone' does not share the same name as the 'Village Volunteers Eastern Zone', or VVEZ, which exists. While the VVEZ has not given a statement on the Shirui Lily Festival, earlier on March 8, the deadline set by the Governor to surrender illegally held and looted weapons, the VVEZ published a video statement - seven of its masked members in camouflage and carrying AK series and other assault rifles - asserting they will not lay down arms until their demand for a separate administration was met. The clashes between the Meitei community and the nearly two dozen tribes known as Kuki, who are dominant in some hill areas of Manipur, have killed over 260 people and internally displaced nearly 40,000.
