Man's body found in industrial bin

A man's body has been discovered inside an industrial bin at a business in Tasmania. Emergency services were called to the premises on Percy St at Bellerive near Hobart about 9am on Monday. A police spokesman said the man's body was discovered at the rear of the premises located on the eastern shore of the Derwent River. 'Detectives and forensic personnel are currently on the scene conducting investigations,' a spokesman said. 'Police have the area contained and there is no danger to the public.' More to come

Police: Two suspects in acid attack against Bachok spa owner released on police bail, but may be recalled

KOTA BHARU, June 1 — Two individuals believed to be involved in the acid attack on a spa owner in Beris Kubur Besar, Bachok, on May 17 have been released on police bail but may be recalled for further investigation if necessary. Bachok police chief Supt Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin, said the suspects—a 38-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man—were released on May 28. 'Investigations are still ongoing, including efforts to locate another suspect believed to be in the state. 'We are also awaiting full reports from the Chemistry Department and Forensic Laboratory on the liquid, believed to be acid, used in the attack,' he told Bernama today. The victim, a female trader, was splashed with the substance by an unknown assailant near a convenience store in Beris Kubur Besar, Tawang. She suffered burns to her shoulder, back, arms, and legs, and is currently in stable condition at the Burn Unit of Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM), Kubang Kerian. — Bernama

Two more arrests after four people hit by car in Leicester

Police have made two more arrests after a car collided with four pedestrians in Leicester. Two men and two women were injured in the incident on De Montford Street shortly after 12.30am on Saturday. Police say the collision was reported to have happened after a fight at the same location. A 31-year-old man from Leicester was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and causing serious injury by dangerous driving following the collision. He remains in police custody. On Saturday afternoon police arrested two more men. A 28-year-old man from Leicester is being held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Meanwhile, a 34-year-old man from Leicester was arrested on suspicion of affray. Police say the suspects and the four injured people had all been in attendance at a private event nearby prior to the collision. The car believed to have been involved in the incident was found in nearby Margaret Street and has been recovered as part of the investigation. Detective Inspector Jenny Tattersall said: "We have been working tirelessly today to understand the sequence of events and how the incidents of the early hours occurred. "The cordon was in place for much of today to allow for thorough investigations to be carried out, including the attendance of forensic officers. This has now been lifted. "We do continue to ask that people do not speculate about this incident, including on social media, in order to allow our investigation to continue. We will continue to provide updates and information as and when we are able to. "Officers will remain in the area on foot patrol offering reassurance. Please do speak with them regarding any information you may have or any concerns you may have.

Police investigating the death of a 57-year-old man in a street in North Lanarkshire have said there are no suspicious circumstances. The body was discovered at about 08:35 on Saturday in the Calder Road area of Bellshill. Part of the road was closed to drivers and pedestrians while forensic experts experts examined the scene. A police spokesperson said a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal and the public were being asked to avoid the area of possible until the road was reopened.

Death investigation launched after Regina police find man's body near Marshall Crescent

(David Prisciak/CTV News) Regina police have launched a death investigation after a man's body was found near Marshall Crescent early Friday morning. Officers were called to the scene around 2 a.m., upon arrival they located the body of a deceased man, a Regina police news release said. The area was secured and police's major crimes and forensic identification units responded to the scene. Regina police said the man's name will not be released at this time, adding there are no further details with the investigation still in its early stages. Anyone with more information is asked to call Regina police or Crime Stoppers.
