That's exactly what happened in a TikTok video when a foster mom decided to bring home not one but two senior foster dogs, leaving her husband adorably blindsided and the internet truly delighted. Known for her dedication to rescuing senior canines, she has fostered over 100 pups to date. On this particular day, she tells viewers she's at Muttville, a senior dog rescue based in San Francisco. While her husband believes she's simply picking up Thumper — one of their current senior fosters — Lisa is secretly there to bring home a second canine named Corduroy. She explains to her followers that this will be foster number 101, and that her husband (affectionately referred to as 'dog dad') has no idea she's returning home with another four-legged companion. Corduroy, whom she jokingly calls a 'house hippo,' seems perfectly content as he hops into the back seat with Thumper for the ride home. When Lisa arrives home, her husband is visibly caught off guard. Expecting her to return with just one dog, he breaks into a smile as he spots Corduroy trailing behind. 'Thought you were coming back with one, came back with two?' he says, clearly surprised but amused. She then introduces Corduroy to him, and the new addition is warmly welcomed with lots of pets. The response on TikTok was overwhelmingly positive. Many viewers were touched by the easygoing love between the foster mom, her husband, and their growing pack. One person pointed out how 'Corduroy's tail wagging ferociously' showed just how excited he was to join the family. Peterborough cardboard box kittens to be named after rescuers
Tiny abandoned kittens found in a cardboard box during a community litter pick are to be named after their six little fluffballs were discovered on a path near Peterborough's Embankment area during the cleanup on 3 July by Peterborough Litter from Peterborough Cat Rescue collected the kittens, which were only about three or four weeks old, and all are said to be gaining weight and doing for the charity, Vicki Heyden, said the grey and white and black kittens - two boys and four girls - are to be named after their Womble rescuers - Harry, Steve, Emma, Amy, Lisa and Ariana. The Wombles group had been clearing litter from Bishops Road to the Embankment in the city when they came across the member Harry Machin said it was "certainly the most unusual litter we have found for quite a while".Although food had been left in the box, there was no water and fosterer Ms Heyden said the animals were underweight for their - a black female - weighed only 150g (5.3oz) and has been placed with a receptive nursing mother other five are all being hand-reared by Ms Heyden and her partner at their home in Stamford, are now gaining weight and confidence and will be put up for adoption when they are ready."They squeak and want feeding all the time, but they are going from strength to strength," Ms Heyden she expressed concern about the kittens' mother, who was not with the abandoned litter, and would now be "crying out and looking for her kittens because they usually stay with their mother until they are about nine weeks old". She came up with the idea of naming them after their rescuers because she "thought if would be nice to reach out and give the litter pickers an update".One of those involved has already applied to adopt her namesake Machin, one of the Wombles who found the kittens, said while he thought "Harry" was an unusual name for a kitten, "it was absolutely lovely that Vicki told us and it's very nice to get an update and know they've been fostered". Blind cats can live long, healthy, and incredibly happy lives, no matter if they're born that way or go blind later in life. On Sunday, June 29th, one adorable little blind kitten captured everyone's hearts. Not only is he blind and happy as can be, but his little paws look like they were dipped in a jar of fluff! In case you were wondering, he uses those marshmallow mittens for evil: Every single thing about @hoiteytoitey's video is absolutely perfect to me. The big jumps, the music, the fact that his name is "Stamp." If I could have him in my life, I would!Stamp is only a foster in this house, but he's having a great time and can stay as long as he needs. He's actually currently there with his sister, Zip, and they're looking to be adopted out together into a loving forever home! They were found back in April and have been there since. Neither of these cats were born blind: when they were found, they had severe health issues that included eye infections. They did everything they could, and while they were ultimately able to save one of Zip's eyes, both of Stamp's were removed. He's adjusted perfectly well, and honestly, he doesn't seem to miss them. He and his sister still get into all of the trouble in the world, and when Stamp "detects" a threat, that's when he pulls out all the stops. Hops for days, this guy! Don't worry, though. He apprehends threats like it's nobody's business: If you'd like to adopt Stamp and Zip, they're currently available! They cannot be separated, so you will have to adopt the pair, but that's perfect. Broward County Animal Care over capacity, pleads for adoptions, volunteers
Broward County Animal Care is sounding the alarm as its shelter exceeds capacity by nearly 50%, with hundreds of dogs and cats urgently needing homes. Shelter officials are calling on the public to adopt, foster or volunteer to help relieve the strain. "Our capacity for dogs is 105, our capacity for cats is 120," said Zachary Rinkins, the shelter's public information officer. "Right now we are housing 150 dogs and we are housing over 190 cats, and so we are at critical mass." New foster program offers students community service hours In response to the crisis, the shelter has launched a summer pilot program offering community service hours to South Florida high school students who foster pets. Officials hope the initiative will help get more animals out of the shelter and into homes, even temporarily. "We need our community to not only just adopt or foster but to help us market the love and hope that's in this shelter," Rinkins said. Emotional toll on animals, adopters The overcrowded shelter is taking a toll on animals and staff alike. "Because we have a limited staff and volunteers, it gives less time, one-on-one time with the animals, which also impacts their quality of life," Rinkins said. For some, like Humby Rodriguez, the process of adopting again comes with emotion. "It's just been hard, I've come here probably four or five times," said Rodriguez, who lost his dog Thunder last year and is now searching for a new companion. "You want to take them all home but unfortunately you can't." All adoptions from Broward County Animal Care are free and include full vaccinations and a microchip.
