Moment gunman opens fire in the middle of the street after brawl breaks out in Birmingham
Shocking footage has captured the terrifying moment a gunman opened fire in the middle of a residential street in Birmingham. Police were called following reports of shots being fired at around on Sunday morning amid a brawl on Kenrick Croft, in Castle Vale. In a chilling video clip, a hooded figure is seen sending two shots in the direction of a group of people while women's screams can be heard in the background. The gunman then runs towards the direction of the camera as officers were quickly scrambled to the scene. A 40-year-old man and 41-year-old woman have since been arrested on suspicion of disorder and possession of a firearm. Both are in custody for questioning. Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of the same offences, was hospitalised following the incident. He is set to be questioned in due course. West Midlands Police said that officers had received reports of a group involved in a 'melee' and that, at present, no individuals had sustained gunshot injuries. A spokesperson for the force said: 'We're investigating after disorder where gunshots were fired in Kenrick Croft, Castle Vale, at around 2am yesterday (1 June). 'It's understood a group were involved in a melee but no-one was present when officers arrived. 'At this stage, no-one is understood to have sustained gunshot injuries. 'Following enquiries we later arrested three people on suspicion of being connected to the disorder.' Officers confirmed they are carrying out 'extensive enquiries' to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, alongside who was involved. They also assured members of the public that the force has 'stepped up reassurance patrols'. Any individuals with information related to the incident are asked to contact the force either via the Live Chat on their website, or by calling 101, quoting log 446 of 1/6/25. The appalling footage comes following a broad daylight shooting in April that killed a 60-year-old father, with the horrific moment captured on camera. Shots were fired through blinds into the terraced house in Stanley, County Durham, on Saturday April 5, before cries of 'they killed my dad ' could be heard. A video, which circulated on local WhatsApp groups and social media platforms, shows two people approach the property on Elm Street at 5.17pm. One of them appears to break a window while the other pulls out a gun, and a shot is then heard as it is fired, before two people run off and cries of panic are heard. Durham Constabulary officers confirmed they were called to the property at about 5.20pm after reports of a 'disturbance', where a man was found to have been shot. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the 60-year-old man - named locally as Barry Dawson, also known as 'Buck' - was pronounced dead at the scene.

Multiple people shot after gunman opens fire inside Connecticut mall
At least five people have been shot at a Connecticut mall where at least one gunman opened fire Tuesday afternoon. Waterbury Police have said the shooting at the Brass Mill Center began sometime before 4.40pm, when officers first responded to the scene for reports of a disturbance, ABC 7 reports. As soon as the cops arrived, they found five people with gunshot wounds. All of the victims were over the age of 18, and their injuries ranged in severity, according to CT Post. 'All victims were transported to local hospitals and are currently undergoing medical treatment,' Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo said at a news conference. 'There are no fatalities at this time,' he added. The police chief also said officers are now 'following some very strong leads' and noted that there was no ongoing threat to public safety. 'I think we're safe right now,' Spagnolo said. 'I don't feel that there's any threat in the immediate area.' He explained that the shooting appeared to be the result of a conflict that escalated quickly. 'We do not believe this is a random act of violence,' said Spagnolo, noting that the shooter and others involved in the altercation likely knew each other. The suspect is now believed to be a male in his 20s who was armed with a semi-automatic pistol. He has not yet been apprehended by Waterbury police, and Spagnolo suggested Tuesday evening another individual may have assisted him in the shooting.

Man jailed after shooting man in face in city park
A gunman who shot another man in the face at a park in Coventry has been jailed for 32 years. Raydell Lennox, 19, from Sandwell, fired a weapon in Caludon Castle Park in Farren Road on 21 October last year, after pulling up in a car just after 22:15 BST. The victim, 24, sustained serious, life-changing facial injuries, West Midlands Police said. "It's unclear why Lennox fired the gun towards the victim, a strong line of enquiry has been it was mistaken identity, " Det Con Rob Tilley added. Lennox was convicted of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, following a two week trial at Coventry Crown Court on 19 May. The 19-year-old, who had fled the country after the shooting, was identified as a prime suspect and arrested after he returned to the UK, West Midlands Police said. The car that he was believed to have travelled in on the night of the shooting, was found burnt out, just over a week after the incident, the force added.
