Heartbroken family pay tribute to 'beautiful' girl, nine, who died after entering the River Thames
The heartbroken family of a nine-year-old girl who died after entering the River Thames have paid tribute to their 'beautiful angel'. The tragic youngster, named on social media as 'Bia', died after entering the water at the Royal Pier Road in Gravesend, Kent, at around 1.40pm on Friday. Kent Police said her body was recovered from the river yesterday morning, after a search by police's marine units, the coastguard helicopter and lifeboats. Devastated members of her family said she 'had her whole life ahead of her' but 'she had the life that was decided by God'. Relative Mirela Turcanu posted on social media: 'Oh, she left us speechless, this little girl had her whole life ahead of her, but she had the life that was decided by God. 'Smooth road to heaven, my niece.' Leon Alkapone described her as 'my niece, my beautiful angel'. Another post said: 'Rest In Peace, Little Angel, Bia. May God comfort the grieving family.' Emergency services were called to the Royal Terrace Pier in Gravesend at 1.46pm on Friday. Two children, a boy and a girl, had got into difficulty in the water but the boy - believed to be seven - was later pulled from the river. At 11.40am on Saturday, a body was recovered from the river near Gravesend and formal identification by the girl's next of kin took place. Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage and a report will be prepared for the coroner. Bia was playing with her cousin near the water when she slipped and the current pulled her in, it is understood. The boy saved from the water during the initial search remains at a local hospital in a stable condition. Gravesham MP Dr Lauren Sullivan posted a statement on social media on Saturday afternoon, offering her 'deepest condolences' to the family. The Labour MP said: 'I am deeply saddened to hear that a body has been recovered in the search for the girl who went missing in the River Thames in Gravesend. 'I would like to thank emergency services, including the coastguard, Kent Police, the RNLI, and PLA many others for their efforts in the search. 'I know there are many opinions circulating at this time about the circumstances surrounding this tragic event and from speaking to the authorities it is right that there is an investigation, as with all sad circumstances such as these, but at the heart of this is a family and community in grief which I hope everyone can respect. 'I send my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the child, and keep them all in my thoughts at this time.'

Woman dies weeks after falling down the stairs in a bar: Tributes pouring in for 'bubbly' 26-year-old
Heartbroken tributes have poured in for a young woman who tragically died almost a month after she fell down the stairs while in a bar. Georgia Harry, 26, was out with friends in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Monday, March 17, when she fell down the stairs in Lost Bar. Merseyside Police received reports of the incident on Seel Street at approximately 2.15am, with Ms Harry of Aigburth, Liverpool, immediately rushed to The Walton Centre hospital where she remained in critical condition. Now, her devastated mother, Nicola Poolton, 44, has revealed her daughter's tragic death, telling the Liverpool Echo that she was taken off life support on April 8, before passing away on April 13. Leading the touching tributes to her 'bubbly, outgoing and friendly' daughter, Ms Poolton described her as a 'strong fighter' that 'fought until the end'. She added: 'She was a hard-working girl who loved to have fun with her friends and going on holidays. She was so sociable.' Reflecting on Ms Harry's terrifying time during the ICU, Ms Poolton said: 'We were told on the night that they didn't think she would make it through the night. 'But when we turned off life support she survived for five days.' Ms Harry, who lived with her mum and two dachshunds, Mabel and Maggie, worked at Liverpool Passport Office based within the city centre. During a funeral service held on May 7, friends and family gathered to commemorate her life. A moving obituary notice declaring Ms Harry's passing stated that she had died 'peacefully in hospital surrounded by her loving family'. It added: 'Much loved daughter of Nicola and David. Georgia will be sadly missed by all who knew her. 'To our darling daughter. We miss you the world our beautiful miracle. We love you the world and back.' In the day following Ms Harry's tragic fall at the popular bar, Merseyside Police issued a public appeal for any possible witnesses of the incident. Ms Poolton has now said that police inquiries have concluced, with an inquest set date set for July An abundance of tributes from friends and family of Ms Harry poured in as those closest to her shared their utter devastation and shock at the young woman's passing. One mourner described her loss as 'the saddest time of our lives'. Remembered in one touching tribute as the 'most gorgeous soul inside and out', another heartbroken friend said that they would always remember Ms Harry as 'the brightest light in every room'. Meanwhile, two close friends of Ms Harry revealed the significant extent of their grief in a further tribute that read: 'Georgia, our gorgeous girl. We miss you so much, words can't even explain. We will never forgive the world for being so cruel and taking you away from us.' 'From kids to adults we've always been there for each other throughout it all. Thank you for the best 16 years, life will never be the same. We will love and miss you so so much forever.' In the day following Ms Harry's tragic fall, Merseyside Police issued a public appeal for any possible witnesses of the incident. Issuing CCTV images of two men who they believed 'may have witnessed the fall' and could therefore help to 'assist' the investigation, Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said on Monday March 17: 'We are keen for the two men in the CCTV images to come forward and help us with enquiries so we can understand what happened and how she fell down the stairs. 'We are keen to stress that the men in the image are not in any trouble and there is no suggestion that they have done anything wrong. We would like them to come forward to assist with our enquiries. 'I urge the men to please identify yourself and contact us as a matter of urgency.' Ms Poolton said that police inquiries have since concluded, with an inquest into the circumstances surrounding Ms Harry's death set for July this year.
