Ina Garten's Strict Rule When Bringing Flowers To A Dinner Party
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links. Dinner parties are a timeless way to entertain, gather, and enjoy a delicious meal with people you care about. Hosting one provides a great opportunity to get creative with the type of cuisine you serve, how you set up or decorate, and even activities or conversation topics you'd like to try out. If you're a guest at a dinner party, some planning ahead should be involved as well — even when it comes to bringing a bouquet. Ina Garten, the famed host of "Barefoot Contessa" herself, says that one of the few major don'ts when it comes to showing up for an evening meal is bringing flowers without a vase. According to Garten, this small misstep can sometimes cause undue stress for the host. "Don't ever bring flowers that aren't in a vase," Garten said during an appearance on Today's "Sunday Sitdown." "You're there. You're like, everyone's arriving and then all of a sudden, you've got these flowers and you have to figure out what to do." Taking one extra step to make sure your host feels appreciated and considered ahead of time can do a world of good. Read more: 14 Dolly Parton Baking Mixes, Ranked Worst To Best There have long been a few unspoken "rules" of etiquette as it pertains to dining at someone else's home; never arrive empty-handed, for one, and try not to overstay your welcome. More specifically, Garten warns against bringing along a gift or side dish that is too niche. One particularly silly offering Garten says to leave behind is something like a Jell-O salad, or anything else you think the host would prefer to serve themselves. Instead, you can wow those welcoming you into their home with a nice bottle of wine (be sure to avoid these common wine shopping mistakes) or a flower arrangement. Even if you take the time to build a customized bouquet yourself or order a lovely arrangement from your local florist, the beauty of the flowers will likely be overshadowed by the panic your host feels once they realize they have nowhere to put them. You can make things easier on yourself and your host by keeping a variety of vase options on hand, using a set like this Beahot 22 pack of clear flower vases. Your host will appreciate the forethought, and you'll always be ready for even the most impromptu get-togethers. Read the original article on Tasting Table.

Jennifer Lopez, 55, posts VERY filtered selfie after getting nasty cut on nose
shared a very filtered selfie after suffering a nasty cut on her nose during rehearsals for her upcoming hosting gig at the 2025 American Music Awards. The On The Floor songstress, 55 - who also flashed a recent bruise on her arm while prepping for the ceremony - took to her Instagram stories on Saturday as she snapped a quick photo while sitting inside a vehicle. Natural sunlight streamed through the windows while the performer placed one of her hands behind her head. Lopez donned a cropped, blue sweatshirt and matching bottoms while her long locks flowed down past her shoulders. She added what appeared to be a filter over the picture and in text added towards the bottom, the star wrote: 'OMW to rehearsals.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Jennifer opted for a glowy makeup look which comprised of a warm blush to her cheekbones and a shiny highlighter. A glossy nude-colored tint was worn on her lips for a final touch. The actress also uploaded a selfie video while sitting in the backseat of the car as she headed to her next destination. Lopez filmed herself grooving to the track Her by Megan The Stallion as she sat in between stylist Shawn Barton and vocal coach Stevie Mackey. It comes shortly after the singer suffered a few different injuries while getting ready to host the 2025 AMAs - which are set to take place on Monday, May 26 in Las Vegas. On Friday, the star flashed a new bruise on her arm in a black-and-white photo from an Instagram post. She possibly got the mark during rehearsals due to her being pictured inside a dance studio. The mom-of-two is not only hosting the festivities but will also be taking to the stage to perform for the crowd. 'It takes a village. DANCE AGAIN #AMAS @cbstv @ParamountPlus,' wrote the Unstoppable actress in her caption. Lopez was posing with several other dancers in workout clothing. It comes shortly after the singer suffered a few different injuries while getting ready to host the 2025 AMAs - which are set to take place on Monday, May 26 in Las Vegas The images hinted at what fans can expect from the performer as she wore a plunging black leotard with leggings, Nike knee pads and white sneakers. It also comes after the ex-wife of Ben Affleck said in mid-May that she had injured her face while on stage rehearsing for the ceremony. The injury was severe enough to require stitches, but Jennifer was in luck, as the celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Jason Diamond was on hand to take care of her. Jennifer - whose ex-boyfriend Diddy is currently on trial in federal court on racketeering and sex-trafficking charges - first broke the news cryptically with a closeup of her face showing her holding an ice pack over her red nose and eye. 'So this happened,' she wrote. In a follow-up snap, she clarified the extent of her injury and said it happened 'During @amas rehearsals.' She told People on Friday: 'I hurt my nose. I hit it in rehearsal and I had to get stitches. It was fine. A few of us have gotten hurt in rehearsals. We're doing a very high-energy athletic number so it's, I guess, bound to happen.' Her red nose also appeared to be swollen after the injury, and she was dressed casually in gray sweats after a day of performing behind the scenes. While an injury to her face could prove to be devastating for her hosting gig - as well as her career in general - she got some help from a popular medical provider in the nick of time. And a post on Tuesday revealed that the rehearsal mishap had happened a week earlier, and showed that she has almost completely healed. The Hustlers star showed off a soft smile as she posed for a photo next to Dr. Jason Diamond, the Beverly Hills–based facial plastic surgeon who was one of the former stars of the reality series Dr. 90210. The second closeup showed her sans ice pack and with a bloody gash just above the bridge of her nose and slightly to the side. Diamond, who wore a T-shirt advertising some of his products, beamed next to Lopez as she showed off his handiwork. She appeared to have some mild discoloration over her nose where the gash had been, but for the most part she looked like her old self, and with nearly two more weeks to heal before the broadcast. 'Thank you for stitching me up Dr. Diamond,' she wrote in her caption. 'A week later and a whole lotta ice, I'm good as new.' Last month in April, it was announced that Jennifer would be returning to host the AMAs a decade after she last helmed the awards show. 'We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards,' Jay Penske, the CEO of Dick Clark Productions, said at the time via a press release. 'Jennifer's incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick off celebration of summer.' When it comes to the AMAs, Lopez also told People, 'I'm always [there] as a fan. I love artists and getting to know them and being around them and just celebrating the different things that everybody does. 'I really am a believer in lifting other people up and celebrating great work so I'm very excited to do that too this year.' Janet Jackson is set to receive the Icon Award while some performers for the big night include Benson Boone, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Lainey Wilson and Renee Rapp.

Michelle Obama imagines hypothetical prospect of being single, staying at Airbnb CEO's house, during podcast
Former first lady Michelle Obama raised some eyebrows on her podcast when she marveled at the prospect of being a single woman with the opportunity to stay at the house of Airbnb's co-founder and CEO, Brian Chesky. Chesky has opened his own home as an Airbnb, writing, "Starting today, my home is now on Airbnb (yes, this is my actual home and I'll be there when guests are here)." He noted in the following thread that his house features amenities such as freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, a friendly golden retriever, and freshly brewed coffee. He also noted, "We will work out together and train until total muscle failure (after we've eaten lots of cookies)." The offering is wildly popular, Chesky has noted, saying, "I had some weekends available in January, February and March, but they booked out even before I posted this. I'll keep opening more weekends throughout the year." The former first lady hosted Chesky on her "IMO" podcast, noting to her brother and co-host Craig Robinson that she and former President Barack Obama regard the CEO as a close friend, "If I had a son, I would want my son to be Brian." As Michelle Obama greeted Chesky on Wednesday's episode, she expressed her excitement. "I usually don't get to talk to you in an interview format, so let's pretend like it's just us at dinner somewhere with me, poking you and prodding you on how life is," she said. The conversation addressed Chesky's routine for hosting guests, where he explained how he would prepare dinner for them on the first night of their stay. When he mentioned his much-touted cookies, Mrs. Obama asked why she had not had them yet. Chesky answered that she would need to book a stay at his Airbnb to try them herself. The Airbnb CEO went on to note that his guests have all been great so far, but noted one went to great lengths to have an opportunity to stay with him. "I have to say, Brian, if I'm a single girl out there, and I find out that Brian Chesky is single, and I can, like, stay in his house, have you ever -" "Here she goes," Robinson said. "Right to the relationship. Brian, you don't have to feel pressure." "We've never talked about this," the former first lady said. "He just got here!" Robinson replied. Chesky noted, "Her and her husband have tried to set me up before." "I'm very invested in Brian's love life," Mrs. Obama agreed. When asked by Robinson about Barack Obama's efforts to help with matchmaking for Chesky, the CEO was slightly coy. He said that it "remains to be seen" whether the former president is good at making love connections. However, Chesky claimed Barack Obama is "definitely very invested, and he's provided a lot of relationship advice to me, actually."
