Machete-wielding teen who sparked massive police hunt when he cut off electronic tag while on bail is spared jail

A TEENAGER who sparked a massive police hunt after absconding on bail and cutting off his electronic tag has been spared custody again. Met commissioner Sir Mark Rowley last week raised his concerns over the 16-year-old boy's case. 2 He said massive resources had been used to track down the teenager — 'involved in machete attacks' — with a history of being arrested for firearms and zombie knives. Sir Mark told BBC Radio 4: 'We sought his remand in custody. Even under the current system he was eventually bailed. He skipped his bail on his tag and we've put massive resources into chasing him. 'He's been caught with another machete again.' But we can reveal the boy is now back on the streets after being captured in Eltham, South East London, on Tuesday. He was held on suspicion of attempted murder, possessing a machete and cannabis. He had also cut off his electronic tag. The lad, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Bromley youth court on Thursday over the machete and drugs. Prosecutors called for him to be remanded. But District Judge Vanessa Lloyd said: 'Custody for young people must be a last resort.' She technically refused bail, but remanded him to local authority accommodation with an 8pm to 7am curfew — and ordered he wear a tag. Cops are probing the attempted murder allegation. 2

Horror moment teen McDonald's customer has huge machete held against his neck before brutal fight in restaurant

THIS is the terrifying moment a teen thug presses a machete into a boy's neck at a McDonald's restaurant. Four teenagers have been arrested over the machete madness, which was followed by a vicious punch up in the toilets of the fast food chain in Melbourne, Australia. 5 5 5 The saga was filmed on a mobile phone, and the footage is shocking. It shows a group of teens jostling in the toilets when one, wearing a yellow t-shirt, whips out the evil blade. He hands it to a pal who forces the victim, wearing a blue t-shirt, to his knees. While the lad is down, the wielder presses the foot-long knife horizontally into his neck - but thankfully appears not to slice him. He then taps him twice on the neck, yelling out threats all the while. A later clip shows two of the teens fiercely pummelling each other with a flurry of fists. One lad is punched to the ground, but the yellow-t-shirt teen keeps raining down with blows. The lawless behaviour happened inside a McDonald's toilet on Monday afternoon in the Truganina area of Melbourne. Victoria Police believe up to five teens could have been involved in the assault, but they have arrested four and only two were charged. A spokesperson said: 'One of the boys has been charged with aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, false imprisonment, producing child abuse material, assault with a weapon and possessing a controlled weapon. Horror moment knifeman is shot dead at top Brit holiday airport after threatening terrified tourists and lunging at cops 'He was bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date. 'A second boy is expected to be charged on summons. The two victims of the chaos were both 15-years-old, and neither of them were injured. A wave of knife crime has plagued Victoria - prompting the local government this week to usher through a ban on the sale of machetes across the whole state. 5 5 Premier Jacinta Allan announced the measure following advice from police on the same day as the McDonald's mayhem. She said: 'In Victoria, community safety comes first. We must never let places we meet become places we fear. 'I hate these knives, and I will keep introducing as many laws as it takes to get them off our streets, out of our shops and out of our lives.' The law was meant to come into force on September 1, but was brought forward in light the recent spike in incidents.

Shocking footage emerges of a machete attack at a popular fast-food restaurant

Horrifying CCTV footage has revealed the moment four teenagers appeared to assault two people in a McDonald's bathroom. Victoria Police said a group of up to five youths were allegedly involved in the incident on Monday at about 4pm in the toilet of the restaurant on Dohertys Road, Truganina, 22km west of Melbourne. It is alleged by police that a machete was produced during the confrontation. Video, published by on Friday, showed the moment one teenager held the machete up to the neck of a victim. During the interaction, the victim could be seen sinking to the floor. The teen holding the machete appeared to tap them on the chest with the weapon while making threats. Another alleged victim appeared to be thrown on the floor as he was punched twice by a member of the group. Police said in a statement to Daily Mail Australia that the two victims, who were both aged 15 and from the Wyndham area, were not injured. Two boys, of the same age and also from the Wyndham area, were arrested on Wednesday. One of them was charged with aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, false imprisonment, produce child abuse material, assault with a weapon and possessing a controlled weapon. He was bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date. A second boy is expected to be charged on summons. Two other boys, also aged 15 and from the Wyndham area, were arrested on Thursday and were issued cautions. The confrontation occurred the same day Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan held a snap press conference to announce a machete ban would be fast-tracked. The laws banning the sale of machetes were meant to be enforced on September 1, but came into effect on Wednesday. 'Those knives are dangerous weapons,' Premier Allan said on Monday. 'They have no place on our streets anywhere and that is why I will introduce as many laws to get these dangerous knives off the streets.' The Victorian Premier's announcement followed a separate machete attack in a north Melbourne shopping centre on Sunday. Two boys, aged 15 and 16, were charged over the brawl at Northland Shopping Centre. The week before, on May 21, a young family in the bayside area was forced to hide in a bedroom as two masked teens wielding a machete ransacked their home.

‘What the f**k': Four teens arrested after shocking alleged machete assault

Four West Melbourne teens have been arrested after shocking video footage emerged showing them threatening and assaulting a victim with a large machete knife in a McDonald's restaurant. The incident occurred at around 4pm on Monday afternoon at Dohertys Road in Truganina. In a statement, Victoria Police said that even though up to five people were suspected to be involved in the assault, only four had been arrested and only two were charged. 'One of the boys has been charged with aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, false imprisonment, produce child abuse material, assault with a weapon and possessing a controlled weapon. 'He was bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date. 'A second boy is expected to be charged on summons. 'During the incident a machete is alleged to have been produced. 'The two victims, both 15-year-olds from the Wyndham area, were not injured. 'A further two boys aged 15 years old and from the Wyndham area were arrested today. They were issued cautions.' Video footage of the incident from Wyndham TV captures a group of teenagers inside the fast food establishment rest room. One teen, wearing a yellow top, is seen holding a machete before passing it to another boy. The second boy is seen forcing the alleged victim to kneel, pressing the machete against his neck, and tapping him on the chest with the weapon while issuing threats. In subsequent footage, the teens are seen engaging in physical altercations, with one boy being punched to the ground. He later stands up and says he has 'no beef'. It comes as a wave of knife crime prompted the Victorian government to this week rush through a statewide ban on sale of machetes. Earlier this week, Premier Jacinta Allan announced the sale of machetes would be banned, following advice from police. The nation-first machete sale ban comes after legislation outlawing the sale and possession of machetes in Victoria was fast-tracked through parliament in March. 'In Victoria, community safety comes first. We must never let places we meet become places we fear,' Ms Allan said. 'I hate these knives, and I will keep introducing as many laws as it takes to get them off our streets, out of our shops and out of our lives.' One such incident was the Northland shopping centre assault on Sunday, which saw terrified shoppers forced to run for their lives and families barricading themselves in stores as machete-wielding youngsters terrorised the Preston shopping centre. In an update on Monday afternoon, Victoria Police said some of the eight alleged offenders were known to police and believed to have been on bail at the time of the daylight attack. Victoria Police deputy commissioner David Clayton said the eight people allegedly involved were spread across two rival gangs. As of Monday afternoon, police had arrested four people.
